The Marching arts have been making great strides to address inclusivity with both gender, race and LGBTQi members and issues the past few years. The nature of the activity, it is not surprising that there is a larger percentage of LGBTQi participants in both performers and staffs in both DCI and BOA. It is unfortunate, but both Liberty and Baylor Universities have publicly stated policies and beliefs that are discriminatory against LGBTQi people. Exclude them from enrollment and campus life and espouse prejudicial beliefs against them. Additionally, Liberty U has employed "Counselors" who engaged in conversion therapy with Gay students on campus. While the Universities have the right to espouse those beliefs based on religious interpretation, the question posed is, should BOA, DCI and Marching Arts organizations ask schools and organizations to bring students into that environment and financially support institutions that espouse prejudice against many of the students performing in those bands?

Letโs tread gently with this topic, shall we? It is a high school band and DCI forum after all. Not really the place to espouse our political, religious or societal views. In my experience, nothing good can come from it. It never does much of anything other than alienate folks and cause others to look like a complete donkeyโs rearend.

All I'm saying is that the premise for this thread was potentially incendiary & called it out.

All I'm saying is that the premise for this thread was potentially incendiary & called it out.ย between dallasmanโs insight and midwestfanโs incite, I think we have lost sight of the reason folks come to this forum. Have some foresight next time. Oh, and donโt forget, band is fun.
