You won't be surprised to find out that I work in accounting.Β Hello fellow accountant! At least three of us in this thread alone. My particular job function is not "accountant", but my direct chain of management goes to the Vice President of Accounting. I regularly am responsible for calculating and telling customers how much money they owe us. Does this count?

Well, you just posted on a Marching Band forum at 2:02 PM (EST), so you don't seem very overworked yourself! To be honest, I'd worry about my IT department tracking my activities but I sorta run the IT department. Hahaha thatβs nice! No idea what people must think when see horn rank open on my browser π We're watching. And we judge.

And jumping on thestraightestlegs , do you also weigh in potential factors in your algorithm? E.g. Judge, order, weather, etc. Or is this just a straight extrapolation from crude scores? - - - - - - - - - - I have only done this for the winter, so as the venues are inside, I don't factor in the weather. I've also only done it for PIW, so I don't factor in performance order, because most WGI events have a prelims and finals (of which all world groups make finals) and I only use the finals scores so that judges get the chance to put people in the order they think is right after a critique and a second read. It's more just to see which judges favor or do not favor the group I work with. After listening to tapes, I try to compile the areas on the sheet they tend to gravitate towards over the years, and if we can put 5% more focus on those things the week of that event, it might help us gain an edge over our competition. I'm not sure it's very predictive when just looking at judges past scores given to groups, but I thought it might be an interesting addition to someone's algorithm if that person wanted to factor that into their model.
