This schedule is not 100% correct. Concord is competing in A. No clue what the outcome will be, but excited to see how the bands line up this week!

Would you happen to have an updated schedule? This schedule is not 100% correct. Concord is competing in A. No clue what the outcome will be, but excited to see how the bands line up this week! I’ve heard from a couple different folks that Concord is on at 7 to start A. The 2 B bands have a decent chance to beat everyone in A except Avon.

I went to Center Grove to see my BD giants who placed 2nd. Avon had an amazing show and put up a monster score.

Some stuff to pick apart here:
Scores-wise, GFC has the upper-hand on Class B right now. I generally agree with the sentiment that they're the favorites for Class B this year right now as it currently tracks with the growth they've been seeing all year.
However..... The ordinals suggest GFC better keep an eye on Concord.
Noblesville is squarely in the running for state finals this year, if this competition proved anything. Biggest question is whether they can improve enough musically to boost themselves into the favorites.
I know the lack of competition relative to Avon at this competition contributed significantly to their 89.7. That's a fair point to consider. But..... This show doesn't make me surprised they received that.

Noblesville’s show was well designed, but I agree about their music. Ben Davis is doing some cool things musically, but I’m not in love with the visual pieces. Lots of standing and playing which I’m not a fan of. Moving to the Greenfield v Concord discussion… I saw 2 shows that were in 2 different places from a growth/maturity standpoint. Concord showed most, if not all of their hand tonight. They appear to be in the clean and tweak phase. Greenfield (I think) still has show to put on the field.

Seeing Avon for the first time this year - or at least the first 5 minutes of the show on YouTube. I know the show title but not sure I understand what passing the torch is referring to or what the show is supposed to be about?

Trying to watch the Avon show on YouTube would be difficult to see the torch being passed on the field throughout show. There are almost 5 huge torches on the field. Hopefully you will be able to see it in person to get the full effect. The Avon show is technically, musically & visually very impressive.

Small disclaimer, the video is from the first week of competition. I've learned while one could pick up on the late-season potential early on, Avon is very difficult to judge and the best practice for Avon is just to wait.
So... Most of us will need to wait until regionals or Indy Super.

By the same token, Concord is listed as A

I’m not sure exactly why they chose to do so. Could have been a scheduling conflict. I can say that it doesn’t typically happen, and this is a rare occasion.

I can say that it doesn’t typically happen, and this is a rare occasion. Greenfield-Central had a yearly parade that fell on the same day. They performed that in the morning and went to Avon in the evening. Concord wanted a little more practice time in the morning.

Greenfield got some value by measuring against Avon and Ben Davis with Indy Super and GN looming in the future. If Greenfield can continue to hang 8-10 point behind Avon and stay level with Ben Davis they could make some noise at Indy Super and/or GN. And it was a good panel of judges.

Would anyone care to review Class "A" at Center Grove? Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year.
