This monster contest is about to really get rolling so I think it’s time to start the thread for it.
All UIL State contests will be held in the Alamodome. The 5A bands will have prelims all day Monday, November 1st, and finals will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 2.

Based on the results, Area D will only have 18 competing, but I'm getting conflicting information from multiple directors saying there are actually 21 bands qualified for Area D. I will update it with whatever ends up correct, but for now I'll leave it based on the results I have access to.

The new school in LISD is Tom Glenn. They are an up and coming band with full district support. Not this year but next 5A contest they will be a threat to the status quo in Area H.

I have a question about UIL judging. My daughter told me that her school was ranked as follows by each individual judge in prelims: 1st, 2nd, 8th, 15th, and 16th. That seems like a pretty large gap and significant variation among the judges. My only thought is that their band was ranked very highly for either music or visual and very low for the other. The 8th place in the middle stands out either way. Any other ideas? I'm not questioning the judging, just trying to understand.
Also, how does UIL judge compared to BOA? I saw bands that placed well in previous BOA competitions not make the finals at UIL and bands that haven't made a BOA finals in several years end up going to State. I watched these bands in person so, at least to my untrained eyes and ears, there were no major mistakes from any of them.
I apologize if this post is in the wrong location. I'm new to this forum and trying to learn as much as I can.
