I’m still not crazy over their design (which is ironic bc they won GE lol), but their performance was undeniably breathtaking. Really can’t see them not below 3rd or 4th today. Fantastic job tonight, CTJ!!

i see why CTJ won GE. although i think TWHS and hebron had a better performance, CTJ could also definitely still win.

WOW!!!! As much as everyone in the first half blew me away, I have a really, REALLY difficult time seeing CR getting knocked out of the top half of Finals. I can easily see them putting up similar numbers to match Marcus. By the way, they floored me in Prelims. This was another thing entirely. They had this air about them with the performance just now that was missing in Prelims...a little less pressure, a little more carefree? They were finally back in SA Finals, and in the top half to boot! I feel like they really let loose with that run and let it FLY. That was the best performance I've ever seen from a Cedar Ridge band. I'm excited to see how high that can land tonight!! I know this is a bit further back in the thread, but yes absolutely, I wasn’t able to even see the show, only listen to it tonight through my headphones on the livestream and several moments an audible “sheeesh” “wowwww” “the COLOR” “THIS SOUND” came out of my mouth👀😦 they definitely had an amazing performance to be proud of tonight!!🔥🔥

Does it blow anyone else's mind that after all of the amazing stuff we have seen, we still have the reigning San Antonio AND Grand Nats champions left to perform?

Having seen Hebron and CTJ back to back, I think the one that still completely blew the roof off is Hebron. In Prelims, I had CTJ ahead, but Hebron is still in the lead... mostly because musically they were just in another league, not that CTJ is any slouch in music either.

I already opined enough during Prelims about my thoughts on how the show doesn't work, so I won't go on, and my thoughts are indeed unchanged.
So what did I like?! Well, that performance!! There is no doubt that CTJ is fielding an ensemble that could win tonight. If Marcus is music and clarity, and Hebron is insane notes, and FloMo is whimsy, and Reagan is cutting edge, I think CTJ has really established themselves as among the most well-rounded of the TX groups (although I would argue personally that TW checked every box in the well-rounded category a few bands ago as well, and, dare I say, exceeded!). CTJ just is so so strong in every caption and seems to have no performance weaknesses, and I really admire that about this band. Also, no one does fun like CTJ (well, again, except maybe TW a few bands back!). Those kids are unquestionably enjoying themselves and the program they march with and I love that; so much pride shines through in what they do!!
I didn't get a chance to gush enough about the singer during Prelims. Potentially among the best writing I've heard for a vocalist on a football field, she fits in so seamlessly with the full band and the writing is just perfect for her range. She's got a softer, more velvety voice and the music behind her is perfectly scored in every single aspect.
But really, consistency is the name of the game with CTJ. They just excel so beautifully and powerfully in every. single. caption. Not a crack in the structure to be found; perfect craftsmanship from top to bottom.

Hebron has the only trombone section in the nation that can be described by the word "apocalyptic" in a positive way. first seeing them in Early Early September, my first immediate thought was “Hebron Mellos who??” That trombone section has been so incredible all season, can’t say enough about it😦🔥🔥

Vandy might not be as flashy, but they are every bit as good as the rest

Why on earth do I always forget that Vandy's got one of the best drumlines in the country??

Playing in enclosed stadiums is so much better acoustically its nutty... that ring you get with certain hits is just otherwordly.

I feel like Vandegrift had a much better Prelims run, especially visually.

Clean, Composed, Elegant, and Powerful A combination that’ll be difficult for anyone to beat, Vandegrift is looking for a first SA crown of their own and could still definitely win tonight with that performance👀👀

Vandegrift might have been the most well rounded band so far. Absolutely spotless musically and visually. It is insane how good they are with that many performers on the field. Love that ballad and the percussion feature is insane. This has been a PHENOMENAL night of bands.

And now Vandegrift comes out and gives us just as nutty of a performance as Hebron, CTJ, etc. Musically stunning and their drill was CLEAN. That drumline absolutely goes off.

For all my multicam folks: did anyone else catch that awesome shot of the camera pointing low at the “Juliet letters” prop and then panning up slowly to show the band slowly marching forward in the closer?

just audibly went "oh my god" in reaction to vandegrifts opening hit Same lol What a great show... I found their prelims run to be a bit more electric, but you can tell regardless that these kids are SO committed to executing what's given to them. I really admire what this program has been able to do.

Yes, I'm watching on Multicam tonight, although I usually don't. That was completely sublime!! Somehow they managed to capture Phantom 2011 vibes without playing Elsa...
