Do NOT read into this comment negatively (please), but Marcus is like the perfect palate cleanser. Imagine being at a steakhouse and having some incredible steak and thinking "that was perfect, I couldn't imagine having anything else after that" and then out comes this 40-year aged Port wine that is one of the greatest things you've ever tasted. Never mind me. Just old guy things... I actually think that's a fantastic analogy. Subtlety and refinement and distinction.

OMG I have always wanted Superstition as an opener. Such a great way to start a show! Also, those uniforms are such a gorgeous shade of purple. Can more bands wear exactly that color?

OMG the cat(?) mask and the wig on that Cedar Ridge guard(?) soloist on the front stage right before the opening impact... the way I cackled... Jodie Rhodes is officially the Queen of Camp

That is the beauty about Texas music. Want it heavy and powerful? Want is soft and orchestral? Modern Midwest programs can’t make it happen at this execution Level. Playin soft is not what is happening at Marcus! Please stop ✋

WOW the end of that opener. I love the brass layering in on that eighth note pattern and then that sustain just gets louder and louder. I think that peeled back the skin on my face.

I pay a huge compliment to a band after saying the rest of the field was like a fine dining experience and THIS is the response you go with? This ain't it, chief.

i’m having trouble deciding if Vista or Cedar Ridge had a better performance tonight… those two are neck and neck for me
it’s no secret that VR’s time slot will hurt them

Cedar Ridge's show is brilliant. The direction they've gone in with playing some popular music classics is a treat! I can absolutely see why they landed top half after prelims!

Cedar Ridge right out the gate with a super high intensity show! Love how strong and powerful their sounds are the entire show. The quality of bands here after a COVID year is absolutely incredible.

WOW!!!!
As much as everyone in the first half blew me away, I have a really, REALLY difficult time seeing CR getting knocked out of the top half of Finals. I can easily see them putting up similar numbers to match Marcus.
By the way, they floored me in Prelims. This was another thing entirely. They had this air about them with the performance just now that was missing in Prelims...a little less pressure, a little more carefree? They were finally back in SA Finals, and in the top half to boot! I feel like they really let loose with that run and let it FLY. That was the best performance I've ever seen from a Cedar Ridge band. I'm excited to see how high that can land tonight!!
