Which of our bands are going to be performing? Only one I know of is Ann Richards from Texas.

Brownsburg and Union as well. I think there’s other bands too, but these are the two that I can name off the top of my head

That's a decent page. It includes pictures and a description of each group and for most of the bands, it lists the song each will play: --Lincoln-Way H.S. Marching Band (Frankfort, IL) -- "Metamorphosis" (="Aurora Awakes") --Macy's Great American Marching Band --NYPD Marching Band --The Ann Richards Marching Stars (Austin, TX) -- "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" --The Centerville Jazz Band (Centerville, OH) -- "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (a la Stan Kenton) --The Hampton U. Marching Force (Hampton, VA) -- "A Celebration of Family" (="Celebration" & "We Are Family") --The Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band (Brownsburg, IN) -- "Mirko" (from Alegria [Cirque show]) --Trabuca Hills H.S. Thundering Mustangs Marching Unit (Mission Viejo, CA) -- "Pure Imagination" --Union H.S. Renegade Regiment (Union, OK) -- "Oklahoma" --U. of Alabama Million Dollar Band (Tuscaloosa, AL) -- "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"

Thank you for the list! I was wondering if anyone was going to start up this thread soon. Watching all of the bands in the parade is one of my favorite parts of the holiday! Looks like there’s a lot of phenomenal groups we’ll get to see this year.

About 2/3 of Brownsburg’s band spent the day at the airport today, delayed due to plane and flight crew issues. 1/3 flew out very early morning today, 1/3 spent 10 hours waiting at the airport with a plane but no flight crew, finally getting out this evening, and the last 1/3 went home and will be back at the school at 3am tomorrow to try again. Kids are still in great spirits and excited to be marching.
Many thanks to Avon Band parents for feeding the Brownsburg band cookies and hot chocolate after a cold Monday night practice! Totally classy!!

One video posted to Youtube, for example, shows Brownsburg playing Green Day's "Holiday," Lincoln-Way playing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and Trabuca Hills playing the Bar-Kays' "Soul Finger."

That's typical of bands on long parades. When we did the Rose Parade we had a solid block of 4 tunes we did on a loop to get us through the TV zone as we were coached that 'if a band even does horns down, they'll cut to commercial.' After that, we'd do the four tunes together every so often or if there were sections of our parents who went in those stands. Then, at the very end, was a huge wheelchair seating section. They stuffed them all at the end of the parade when everyone had given up on doing things after 7.5 miles back then. Our director told the drum majors, one more time, for them. And they went down the line, "I know you're tired, it's the wheelchair section and floats and bands have been just moving on. Let's give them a show." And we poured it out one last time, much better than the run before when we were staggering. They were probably the most enthusiastic for use aside from our parents' blocks, clapping along and cheering. I'll never forget that.

Being from Indiana and living about 15 minutes from Brownsburg, it has been awesome fun following them this season. I’m sure they think of the Macy’s parade as icing on the cake. I hope they continue on an upward trajectory.

Man, the news coverage of the parade is wild. Like, here's 12 seconds of this super talented marching band who rehearsed for months and spent tons of money to get here. Wow, good stuff ... anyway, here's three minutes of a "celebrity" nobody really knows badly lip syncing and playing a kazoo next to a 300lbs inflatable vinyl Smurf. Ohhh, amazing!
It bothers me, but joking aside, the bands all did put on a hell of a performance. Lincoln Way's reveal was very cool to see in a parade setting, and I loved that so many of the bands were playing some fun stuff for the crowd (shout out to Ann Richards!).

I don’t think people intentionally are. It’s just that announcements have gone out for 2023, so that’s relevant at this moment.

Jenison has just announced they have been selected to head to Macys in 2023
My question, will they skip Nationals? They haven’t missed since 2009

My older brother went with Lincoln H.S., SD when they marched in the 2008 parade and they were the first band on. The night before the parade, they had an 8:00 pm lights out and an 11:45 pm wake up time for their 1:00 am soundcheck.
