If the proposed stadium in Arlington Heights ever actually gets built, would it be feasible for BOA to try to do a Super Regional in the Chicago area or would it be too expensive to rent out like Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta?

The $1,000,000 question: What is the long-term future of this regional? Is the Dome going to continue to host the BattleHawks when Centene Stadium opens? Is 5 BattleHawks games, the regional, a random monster truck date, etc. going to be enough to pay for upkeep? The tax money that goes to the upkeep goes away in 2024. Have you seen the lot? I don't want to believe that things are as far gone as they are, but the pictures are incredibly depressing. It was bad when I was in high school, but I'd take that any day now after seeing how terrible it looks now. fox2now.com/news/missouri/residents-disgusted-by-eyesore-weeds-trash-at-dome-downtown/ What a shame. Been a while since I have seen it. Saw the same thing happen to the Pontiac Silverdome, which was eventually torn down. Now an Amazon fulfillment/distribution center sits on the site.

Panel 2 is extremely stacked here. The composition of bands assigned to each panel has changed significantly. Is your comment based on the updated schedule? Just saw the updated schedule, it's definitely changed my thoughts now

Y’all have no idea how much my heart swells seeing Nixa in these predictions. The program is so incredibly well run and the students are phenomenal. If you ever get a chance to meet a Nixa band member, you’ll understand what I mean! It’s been a pleasure to watch this band grow over the past few years. Anyone who needs their faith restored in humanity need only turn to the discipline and sportsmanship of marching band kids.

I wonder if they could have a regional at Arrowhead in KC. I guess logistically St.Louis might be better. There used to be a dci show at Arrowhead before my time iirc. Even in its rundown state, St. Louis is still much better logistically. Arrowhead is an open dome with real grass, and Memorial Stadium in Columbia is not only an open dome but is also already hosting a competition at the same time. The only covered dome I can think of that’s relatively close is the UNI Dome, though it’s significantly smaller (alongside other issues). I say we cover Razorback Stadium, kick the Hogs out the middle of October every year and have it in Fayetteville! 😍♥️😁

I’m going to guess it will be way too expensive, but if it does happen I’ll have to pay my friends in Arlington Heights a visit.

Oh, it'll get built. The Bears have no interest whatsoever in even considering staying at Soldier Field (and really, who can blame them?)

We really enjoyed seeing Nixa at Union Renegade Review. I look forward to seeing you all again. Bentonville High School will be cheering you on. I think your response in the quoting of this post got lost in translation. When I see responses improperly embedded within a quote, I usually fix them. Can't catch them all, though. (See the post by bhspridemama and yours as examples where it got fixed).

So I will toss out one more history tidbit with respect to this regional. Herscher HS performs Friday evening. If you get a chance to see them, keep this in mind. Not only are they the 1982 Summer National Champions, the were a finalist at the very first Grand Nationals held in 1976. They are the only band of that finalist group that is competing in BOA this season.

Alrighty, here are my *just-for-fun-totally-don't-carry-any-weight-please-don't-start-too-much-drama-but-discussion-is-welcomed-and-encouraged predictions for the 2022 St. Louis Super Regional! I had a lot of fun putting these together, and I am excited to see how this weekend plays out. It is going to be incredible!
Top 5 in Panel 1: Broken Arrow H.S., OK Mustang H.S., OK L.D. Bell H.S., TX O'Fallon Township H.S., IL Grain Valley H.S., MO
Top 5 in Panel 2: Blue Springs H.S., MO Lake Travis H.S., TX Bentonville H.S., AR Yukon H.S., OK Blue Springs South H.S., MO
Next 4: Lincoln H.S., SD (Panel 1) Lakota West H.S., OH (Panel 1) Southmoore H.S., OK (Panel 1) Nixa H.S., MO (Panel 1)
First Out: Fayetteville H.S., AR
Finals Placement Predictions: 1. Broken Arrow H.S., OK 2. Blue Springs H.S., MO 3. Mustang H.S., OK 4. L.D. Bell H.S., TX 5. O'Fallon Township H.S., IL 6. Lake Travis H.S., TX 7. Bentonville H.S., AR 8. Grain Valley H.S., MO 9. Lincoln H.S., SD 10. Lakota West H.S., OH 11. Southmoore H.S., OK 12. Nixa H.S., MO 13. Yukon H.S., OK 14. Blue Springs South H.S., MO
Music: Broken Arrow H.S., OK Visual: Broken Arrow H.S., OK GE: Broken Arrow H.S., OK
Comments: It really is insane how stacked Panel 1 is this year. It is unfortunate because I think there may be some bands who do not make finals who deserve to be there. An example would be Fayetteville being out of finals with Yukon and BSS in, given that they beat both of them at Renegade Review this past weekend. That is not to say Yukon and BSS don't deserve to make finals if they do, because they are both incredible and one week can make a WORLD of difference. I just have a feeling because of how competitive Panel 1 is, we may see a situation like that occur.
Broken Arrow is looking SHARP this year, as expected. I don't really doubt at all that they will win and sweep, but anything can happen! I think me putting Mustang in 3rd is my Oklahoma-bias, but I also think they have a very good shot at this placement as well. They look great from the videos I have seen, and I am excited to see the show come together! I think 3rd could also go to L.D. Bell, O'Fallon, or even Lake Travis. Bentonville is GOOD this year and I fully expect a great showing out of them. Heck, they could definitely place higher than I have got them, and I would LOVE that. The bottom half is where things get hairy. I have Yukon and BSS in finals due to panel, but I put them in 13 and 14 behind the "next 4." I stand by my statement that I think Yukon's show has SO much potential and they are going to start really thriving here in the later part of the season. I think Nixa is having a great year, and they just happen to fall in panel 1. I could Fayetteville sneaking in over them potentially, but I put Nixa ahead since they beat Fayetteville at Renegade Review. We haven't seen Southmoore in a few weeks, but I really think this is their year. Lakota West and Lincoln are programs I am not as familiar with, but their regional wins make me want to give them credit. I have Grain Valley in 8th, but like I said, the bottom half could go all sorts of different ways.
It is going to be such an exciting weekend!

Went through as much videos available out there in the Internets. I really wanted a few bands into finals, but it was just hard for me to put them on top of some. Not going into the panels and Class, but those were definite factors. Excited for the weekend, although admittedly going to be staying home again. Finals Ranking 1. Broken Arrow 2. Blue Springs 3. LD Bell 4. O'Fallon Township 5. Lake Travis 6. Mustang 7. Bentonville ———————————————— 8. Lincoln 9. Lakota West 10. Southmoore 11. Yukon 12. Nixa 13. Grain Valley 14. Blue Springs South Next 5: Millard West, Fayetteville, Papillon-La Vista South, Fort Zumwalt North, Millard North

I wonder what the plan would be if Hickman ever makes finals- they traditionally compete here on Friday and then attend Champion of Champions in Columbia on Saturday. Perhaps if they end up having a season where that's a realistic worry, they won't enroll in two events on the same weekend. I wouldn't put it out of the question someday.
Now that I'm looking, it appears that Bellevue West dropped this event to attend the one at MU instead. They would have had a shot at finals here, but they'll almost certainly medal if not outright win the MU contest. How I wish I could be in two places at once!

They were top half last year.

Why do schools on the Plains use reversed acronyms? University of Missouri = MU, University of Oklahoma = OU, University of Kansas = KU. Should be UM, UO, UK. Or maybe they should be called Missouri University, Oklahoma University, and Kansas University to match the acronyms. I don't buy into the "but Kansas would be confused with Kentucky if we used UK" argument because both Southern Cal and South Carolina use USC, and both Maryland and Michigan use UM. My mind initially went to Miami University when I saw MU before it clicked that ilikeguard is a Show Me State girl through and through.

The University of Missouri was initially named Missouri State University, which is where the nickname Mizzou (and therefore MU) comes from. It was later shortened to University of Missouri as more campuses opened across the state. The university system actually uses the acronym UM - my student email contains “UM” rather than “MU”. I think the consonant-first positioning flows better, which is probably why it’s used by other colleges. When I think of putting the “U” first, my brain defaults to adding the “of” to the acronym, like how UofL is the University of Louisville. It’s the Midwest…we like to use less syllables.

It will be very interesting to see where Lakota West lands.
They certainly have come a long way in their short time competing at the BOA level. Two strait regional wins in Central Ohio and a strong showing in Utah last year should give them some confidence against upper level competition. Going out on a limb to predict they will be in the top 7 for the first time at a super regional.

I remember from the Big 8 conference since the 50s & 60s - all the schools were shortened in this manner: MU, KU, KSU, CU, NU, ISU, OU, OSU, even though most of them are designated "U of ___". Not sure why, but at least it was consistent.

I had them initially at 7 8 or 9. But I just love Lincolns show too much, and LW and the OK bands looks really good too. I won't be shock if GV gets into the upper half.
