Sort of unrelated but not sure where to put this
Does anyone know why this is Franklin's only BOA comp? I assume it is mainly a money thing since they had such a big year last year in terms of uniforms and props, but there could be some shakeup in the program that I missed in all the chaos of this past year

It's definitely mostly because of money if what I've heard and seen is correct. They are smaller than they usually are this year, so I would assume funding is difficult because of that. They're going to a lot more local comps, but since BOA comes with such a hefty price tag, I'm assuming they wanted to go to this since it would be a nice overnight opportunity for them without busting too much money. I would assume the head band director search isn't that big of a deal since he has worked with Franklin for almost a decade in the past when they were bursting onto the BOA scene.

Curious though that they aren't doing Clarksville though since it is within their own state, 60 miles away. Perhaps they choose Indy because they want to give the kids as close to the GN experience they can while still staying within a budget. I do hope the program doesn't falter because I've truly enjoyed what they've accomplished and last year was so much fun!

Some just more obvious than others. I can still cross my fingers and knock on wood...you know, just to be on the safe side!

I have no inside information but I might GUESS that Clarksville is the first competition weekend and they may just feel they were not ready to have a show to put on the field just yet.

Panel is going to be a huge deal here, so I'll completely scrap this post and redo it once the schedule comes out. For now, here's my September guesses (if only to breathe a little life into this thread):

Updated tiers now that the schedule is available!
Panel 1 Top 5 Carmel (IN) Avon (IN) Blue Springs (MO) Castle (IN) Fishers (IN)
Panel 2 Top 5 William Mason (OH) Lincoln-Way (IL) Brownsburg (IN) Grain Valley (MO) Homestead (IN)
Next 4 + 8 out (aka The Bubble) Center Grove (IN) (1) Lawrence Township (IN) (1) Goshen (IN) (1) Franklin (TN) (2) Camdenton (MO) (2) Union (OK) (2) Floyd Central (IN) (2) Kennesaw Mountain (GA) (2) Jenks (OK) (2) Centerville (OH) (2) Lafayette (KY) (2) Beavercreek (OH) (2)
With a little bit of analysis I've decided that Panel 1 probably contains all of our medalists, unless Mason places over Blue Springs. The Panel 2 Top 5 are easy to get into if you're Mason, Brownsburg, or Lincoln-Way, but the other two spots are relatively up for grabs between a good number of groups. Any one of the bands I've listed in the Next 4 + 8 has a shot at 4th-5th in the panel with a good enough run. Grain Valley, Lafayette, Franklin, Centerville, and Camdenton have the advantage of being in the final block of the day, while Kennesaw Mountain and Union get to perform practically as early as possible on Saturday and spend the next several hours awaiting results. Homestead, Brownsburg, and Jenks have even longer to wait, as they're performing on Friday. Avon, Carmel, Center Grove and Fishers are all in the final block of Friday, while Blue Springs will draw in crowds (if they can wake up) for a mid-morning performance on Saturday.
Bonus Class predictions:
A 1. Edgewood (IN) 2. Monrovia (IN) 3. Forest Park
AA 1. Grain Valley (MO) 2. Camdenton (MO) 3. Greenwood Community (IN)
AAA 1. Blue Springs (MO) 2. Castle (IN) 3. Kennesaw Mountain (GA)
AAAA 1. Carmel (IN) 2. Avon (IN) 3. William Mason (OH)

The late addition got the Saturday 7:15 a.m. performance time (meaning they'll be unloading their truck in the lot at 5:15 a.m.).

How set in stone is the schedule? Trying to make travel plans, but don't want to book a hotel that I don't need.
