Have I missed who is going to stream the events this year or is it too early? Have been super busy but just looked at BOA website this morning and did not see where to purchase a season pass.
Edit…… Looks like it’s going to be Box 5 according to their website.
Thanks.

Interesting to note: BOA is providing online video links to bands for educational purposes. No more band videographer passes allowed. Also, "Break Ranks", the Dan Potter led podcast, is returning. Where are you seeing this? I couldn’t find references to it in the handbook

Where are you seeing this? I couldn’t find references to it in the handbook From the Important Event Procedures in the Director Info. This is kind of a bummer really. Those videos usually made it to YouTube and were great recordings!

From the Important Event Procedures in the Director Info. This is kind of a bummer really. Those videos usually made it to YouTube and were great recordings! Many, many audience members were videorecording at Obetz during Saturday's prelims, some of them from the row right in front of the pressbox. At the OMEA event I attended that evening, there was an announcement I'd never heard before, the gist of which was that while the act of recording itself wasn't necessarily illegal, it probably was a violation of the composers' copyrights and that no such recordings were sanctioned by either OMEA or the host band's school district (i.e., "don't sue us").

Personally, unless you’re specially designated to do so, it’s a huge pet peeve of mine when I see people recording at a live show (UNLESS YOU ARE LEANDERMOMMA 🤓). 1) I don’t think it’s illegal to record, but sharing/uploading the video technically is. 2) It can be distracting to have a phone in your peripheral vision while trying to watch shows (like people who whip their phones out in a movie theater will full brightness). 3) The likelihood of you watching the video again is slim (just like when people record concert footage or fireworks at the 4th of July). 4) It is almost guaranteed that a video will turn up on YouTube at some point. So… I say, just sit and enjoy the show through the lens of your own vision, not a phone camera.

Regarding number two, is someone recording video on their more phone more distracting than someone taking photos (which BOA permits)?

I definitely get insanely irritated when someone has one of those cameras that makes a sound with every picture and they are literally taking hundreds if not thousands of pictures during a performance. That loud, constant clicking sound drives me bonkers!

There's absolutely no reason to have your phone click like an old camera at ANY time.
