I’m not saying this had to do with why the won. It is interesting to point out that Vandegrift perform first in the last half and Rouse performed last in the block.

Definity didn't expect that. Pretty sure that Rouse and Vandy scored the second and third highest scores ever at this event, only behind Vandy in 2019. Very impressed to see Rouse at such a place this early in the season.

Very impressed to see Rouse at such a place this early in the season. I mean, Rouse has had their strongest BOA results at the beginning of the season for the past two years. But this definitely exceeded everyone’s expectations going in.

I was in the stands. This Rouse show is special right now and the Vandy one isn't quite there yet. The show is a GE monster. It is delicate, powerful, intricate and brutish. Rouse is going to hurt feelings this year....

Finals Cutoff:
12. James Bowie H.S., TX 74.550 -------------------------- 13. Robert E. Hendrickson H.S., TX 73.325 14. Louis D. Brandeis H.S., TX 72.150 15. Moe & Gene Johnson H.S., TX 71.400
And for those curious, Vandegrift was about 1.5 points ahead of Rouse (who was 2nd) in prelims.

My personal top/favorite shows of the night were Vista, Cedar Park, Lake Travis, & Rouse. I also caught Moe & Gene in Prelims when I was hopping around... If I'm remembering their show correctly then I enjoyed theirs as well! Vandy was a little disappointing musically for me, I couldn't find myself connecting with their selection at all. They sound incredible as always though so maybe it'll build on me as the season goes on.
Those are my standout thoughts of tonight!

Honestly, I am debating on whether or not I even want to make predictions for the rest of the season. 😂 Today was a WILD ride in the best way. So many things no one did, or could have, predicted.

Honestly, I am debating on whether or not I even want to make predictions for the rest of the season. 😂 Today was a WILD ride in the best way. So many things no one did, or could have, predicted. The last few days have been busy for me and I've been unable to comment on here. But WOW! HUGE congrats to Rouse. I've said it before and I will say it again, I LOVE marching band for this reason! So exciting and difficult to predict. No one saw this coming to the point that they weren't even listed in the top 42, yet here they are beating out the current number 4. This weekend was some of the best of what makes BOA so fun to follow. Not to mention the pure musicianship and athleticism of these kids.

If those old enough, endured Les Mis every other show in late 80s/early 90's, we can handle Fly To Paradise! I got to see a Phantom show Saturday that was very much a condensation of Santa Clara Vanguard's 1988 and 1989 shows, right down to the chair trick.

Dont forget Miss Saigon and Jesus Christ Superstar. SCV's Phantom shows will always be my favorite of that era. In BOA, check out 1988 George Roger's Clark.

Rouse and Vista trumpet lesson teacher here. Rouse has been extremely methodical about things this year, and it's paying off. The morale amongst the students is high, and their discipline is admirable. Vista has been doing an excellent job too, although I haven't worked with them much on show stuff this year. Both Rouse and Vista's primary feeders (Wiley MS and Henry MS respectively) won their respective divisions in the TMEA Honor Band contest in 2022 and 2023, so the high schools are getting a good amount of skilled incoming freshmen each year.
There might be some interesting shifts in Leander ISD's future with population growth and district rezoning. According to the most recent recommended model, Rouse and Glenn will be getting significantly more students, Cedar Park and Leander will be getting a bit more before leveling off, Vista should stay about the same, and Vandy will be getting smaller. It's projected that Rouse will have the most students out of all the high schools in LISD by the 25-26 school year.

That might be the biggest boa upset in the time i have followed it. Not at all. The biggest upset of all-time it can be argued would have been Center Grove winning the 1995 BOA Grand National Championship.

The biggest upset of all-time it can be argued would have been Center Grove winning the 1995 BOA Grand National Championship. Broken Arrow winning GN in 2006...they were 4th in semifinals, more than 2 points back of The Woodlands. 10th in Music (15th in ensemble ), 9th in Visual. After missing finals the year prior (yes, I know they aren't the only ones to have done that) And yet it is one of the all-time great shows, and truly holds up 17 years later 2006 was such a good finals.

Exactly two months until this contest! It's time for very early predictions. Rather than going through the headache of trying to guess placements, I'm making the predictions tier-based and in alphabetical order. This contest is always so hard to predict so I really have no logic to present as it’s mostly predicated on precedent and gut instinct. Medalist Contenders (1-5):Cedar Ridge H.S., TX Cedar Park H.S., TX Round Rock H.S., TX Vista Ridge H.S., TX Vandegrift H.S., TX ---------- Finalist Locks (6-7):Leander H.S., TX Rouse H.S., TX ---------- Likely Finalists (8-13):James Bowie H.S., TX Lake Travis H.S., TX M.G. Johnson H.S., TX Robert E. Hendrickson H.S., TX Westlake H.S., TX Westwood H.S., TX ---------- Finalist Bubble (14-17):Dripping Springs H.S., TX Louis D. Brandeis H.S., TX Tom Glenn H.S., TX Weiss H.S., TX ---------- Everyone Else (18-28):Hutto H.S., TX McCallum H.S., TX Tom C. Clark H.S., TX ---------- Burnet H.S., TX Chaparral H.S., TX Gatesville H.S., TX James Earl Rudder H.S., TX ---------- Ann Richards School, TX Manor New Tech H.S., TX Stony Point H.S., TX Veterans Memorial H.S., TX A: Gatesville H.S., TX AA: Burnet H.S., TX AAA: Cedar Park H.S., TX AAAA: Cedar Ridge H.S., TX (for the spice) haha back when we thought predicting CR to win was spicy!!
