Big things after this past week of contests, really excited for this contest!
Here are my predictions:
1) Carmel 2) Avon 3) William Mason 4) Castle 5) Brownsburg 6) Fishers 7) O’Fallon Township 8) Bixby 9) Yukon 10) Lincoln 11) Union 12) Grian Valley 13) Lincoln Way 14) Deer Creek
Oklahoma Takeover looking very very nice in the predictions lol 😂
I think the top 6 are locked in for me but 7 through 14 could be in any of the spots, Yukon and Union look GREAT this year! Deer Creek is also looking really really nice and I think they could just squeak in. Bixby and O’Fallon Township could flip flop, we’ll just have to wait to see.

Just curious Honestly I could see them in finals anywhere from 11-14. Right now there are my second out of finals, getting pushed out by Union and Deer Creek, but I’m sure that will probably change after this upcoming Saturday, as they’re performing at the Broken Arrow Invitational.

What a weekend. Too much to say to say anything at all. Here are my current predictions as of right now, following the performances this weekend.
1) Carmel: Once again they're doing what they do best. 2) Avon: Such a challenging visual program as always. 3) William Mason: Cartwright really speaks through them. 4) Castle: Step up from last year show wise. 5) Brownsburg: Show has more direction than last years. 6) O'Fallon Township: They are HUGE, but their show concept is pretty shallow. 7) Fishers: Not much to say as I haven't seen much. 8) Union: They are back, thirstier than ever and here to rattle up everyones predictions. 9) Lincoln: This group has a great sound. 10) Lincoln-Way: This group has done some pretty cool things recently. 11) Bixby: I honestly don't think their production this year will play out well in the BOA field. 12) Yukon: This group is pushing. I could see their production possibly beating Bixby here. 13) Grain Valley: Such a 2A powerhouse. 14) Choctaw/ Deer Creek/ Southmoore: So yeah, Choctaw had a very successful weekend taking visual from some big dogs, and I honestly think they're doing better than the other two, as Deer Creek and Southmoore have cool productions this year and are rapidly growing, there is some significant cleaning to do there.
Honestly the only locks I'm comfortable with claiming are the top three.

Still haven't seen all of the finalist-caliber groups here, but I CAN speak to the Oklahoma bands.
Here's my ranking (as of 10/6) on the likelihood of Oklahoma bands attending this contest making finals. Note: my thoughts might change with after tomorrow's competitions. I am largely going off of poor quality football game videos from tonight. So in order from most likely to least likely to make finals at this contest:
1. Union - I know. Shocker. I am really impressed with them this year, and it makes me very happy to say that! They've made SR finals the last two years with less than ideal performances, but this year I don't really have much doubt that they will make finals. They might even be pushing for the 6-8 range, but we will see. 2. Bixby - Everyone's favorite band to hype up. They have a very entertaining show this year, and I also am pretty confident we will see them in finals. I am less convinced it will be as high of a placement as we were hoping, but if they work out some minor kinks in the show, they could have a VERY strong showing. ---------------(line of bands I would be surprised to not see in finals vs. the bands that, to me, are on still on the bubble) 3. Yukon - Each time I see a new video of Yukon's show, I get more excited about it. The props are so cool, their sound is great, and their visual is coming along nicely! I think they have a really good shot at finals, but I am keeping them in the bubble for now until I can see them live. 4. Choctaw - Listen, I think they have a very strong show and a really decent chance at making finals. They are visually VERY strong, having recently won that caption at Owasso. Their show feels like a whole "package" and I think it will carry them far. I believe they will FOR SURE medal in AA, and they have a pretty good chance at winning their class. My hunch right now is we will get two prformances from Choctaw, one way or the other. 5. Southmoore - They have a great show! It's like they took everything from last year and bumped it up a notch. Once we see how the BA Invitational goes, I might be more inclined to move them up on this list, but having not seen any super recent things from them makes it difficult to put them any higher. I did, however, see their closer, and it looks great! I just want to see it in contest uniform and with props too. I am not counting them out of finals. Heck, I think any/all of these groups could make finals with the right run. 6. Deer Creek - Absolutely kills me to put them down here. I really enjoy their show, and I think it has a TON of potential! The next few weeks are going to be CRUCIAL cleaning time for them. It appears the whole show is on the field, so if they can really focus and clean up, they are very much still in the conversation for finals. I'm just nervous that we've reached a point in the season where they should be cleaner than they are. I think the results at tomorrow's Mustang Invitational will be telling.
I think, other than OBA and Grand Nats, I am most excited for this contest. This season is flying by!

I personally have Deer Creek above Southmoore, but I wasn't able to see them at BA the other night so I could me wrong. I do think Union is going to do really well, I think we will definitely see them in finals! Bixby is the same story! I agree that they probably won't be in the top 7, but part of me still is holding out hope! I don't know about Yukon... I love the show, really entertaining and it feels so huge compared to anything I've seen from them before... even compared to the Edmond schools, it feels just like more, but alas I am not a judge so we'll see how the judge panel feels at the Union Renegade Review this Saturday! I would really like to put them deep into finals but I just don't feel good about doing so until I've seen the scores to match my impressions of the program! Choctaw is a band that I could see just sneaking in! They've improved by a substantial amount every time I've seen them, and so I'm going to hold out hope that finalist 13 is Choctaw!

Coming out of a great week of competitions here is my first round of predictions. Expect one more prediction next week right before the show. The list includes the bands best score at a BOA competition this season, and the date of the score. The bands who haven’t competed at a BOA circuit quite yet have a N/A next to them, please let me know if I’ve missed any performances.
1. Carmel - 81.6 (09/16/23) 2. Avon - 80.75 (09/16/23) 3. William Mason - N/A 4. Brownsburg - N/A 5. Centerville - 81.7 (10/08/23) 6. Fishers - N/A 7. O’Fallon - N/A 8. Union - N/A 9. Castle - 77.3 (09/16/23) 10. Bixby - N/A 11. Center Grove - 76.45 (09/16/23) 12. Lakota West - 80.150 (09/24/23) 13. Lawrence Township - 76.0 (09/24/23) 14. Yukon - N/A First Out- Choctaw - N/A
The top 3 needs absolutely no explanation. These three have dominated BOA in the last several years and I have no doubt this Top 3 remains from last season. Brownsburg and Fishers I expect to remain in the Top 6 after some good shows this year at ISSMA, but jumping up from 10th last year I have the Centerville Jazz Band. I love their show this year with great visual and winning General Effect at the Toledo Regional. They have a lot of potential this year I believe and I’m expecting big things from this show. Now I have to be honest, being a Midwesterner I am not fully up to date with the Oklahoma bands this year, from what I’ve seen or heard though I had to place them a bit lower. Hopefully in the next week I can find more to sway them up, so excited about the OK takeover this year at Indy. Lakota West slides in at a solid 12 after winning the Obetz Regional. I believe they’ll stay above Lawrence Township but that gap will close I believe with LT having more potential in my opinion and historically ending the season stronger than Lakota. Finally at 9, and 11 I have Castle and Center Grove. Two historically great Indiana bands who always show up at Supers but I haven’t send the greatest showings from them, hoping they can bounce back but for now they round out the list near the bottom. Yukon and Choctaw I go back and forth on but Yukon has such great potential this year and better visuals so in my opinion right now they sneak in.

Expect an Oklahoma takeover in spots 11-14. Also anyone know much about centerville? I'm not big into bands outside of OK TX and IN but they are a marching jazz band? Didn't know that was a thing lol

That's morphed a bit over the last 20 years or so (one might argue the last time they had a true jazz show was '05, still one of my personal favorites from them) but they are still very much living up to the name with a very jazzy approach.

This year's show is one of the most jazz-heavy of any since that '05 classic. What is your opinion on them this year if you’ve seen it? I have yet to see them this season. it’s called ‘Through The Eyes of Picasso’. from what I hear during covid their winter guard did this show and it got canceled. They brought it back. They have a ton of squiggly lines like paint strokes and the guard are the paintings coming to life. The choreo and visual is looking good. They won visual in prelims at Toledo and then GE in finals. It’s a very artistic show

I also haven't seen a recent video from them/seen any recent local results, so there could be a piece of info that I am missing. I also feel that Centerville has a pretty decent shot at finals this year, but I don't think they will be in the top 7.

Predictions:
1. Carmel 2. Avon 3. William Mason 4. Fishers 5. Brownsburg 6. O’Fallon 7. Castle 8. Union 9. Bixby 10. Lakota West 11. Centerville 12-14. no idea
Top 3 will be the most competitive, all in the same boat in performance excellence and show design. Really digging Fishers this year, different but very entertaining, will do well in the long run. 5-9 is up for grabs and could be in any order honestly. 10-11 West/Centerville, strong groups and designs, solid growth and consistency the past few years from both. 12-14 no opinion.

I'll definitely be updating this after this weekend, but here's my initial top 14 predictions for this super regional:
1. Carmel 2. Avon 3. William Mason 4. Castle 5. Fishers 6. Brownsburg 7. O'Fallon Township 8. Union 9. Lincoln 10. Bixby 11. Yukon 12. Lakota West 13. Centerville 14. Choctaw
Others that I could see making it into the top 14 include Center Grove, Southmoore, Deer Creek, Lincoln-Way Community (and we may have a better gauge on them after this weekend with their home show happening), and Grain Valley. It's an absolutely packed Super Regional as always, and even more so considering how many 80s we've seen already from some of the groups listed in BOA competition (I think 5 of them officially have and I'm sure many others are well past that threshold too). All in all, definitely will be an exciting super regional!

There is a Lincoln-Way video floating around the interwebs from Prospect (9/30), where they scored an 85.5 (87.3 this past weekend.)

All in all, definitely will be an exciting super regional! Which broke 80?

Coming out of a great week of competitions here is my first round of predictions. Expect one more prediction next week right before the show. The list includes the bands best score at a BOA competition this season, and the date of the score. The bands who haven’t competed at a BOA circuit quite yet have a N/A next to them, please let me know if I’ve missed any performances. 1. Carmel - 81.6 (09/16/23) 2. Avon - 80.75 (09/16/23) 3. Mason - N/A 4. Brownsburg - N/A 5. Centerville - 81.7 (10/08/23) 6. Fishers - N/A 7. O’Fallon - N/A 8. Union - N/A 9. Castle - 77.3 (09/16/23) 10. Bixby - N/A 11. Center Grove - 76.45 (09/16/23) 12. Lakota West - 80.150 (09/24/23) 13. Lawrence Township - 76.0 (09/24/23) 14. Yukon - N/A First Out- Choctaw - N/A William Mason. Just "Mason" is still accurate. Similar to referencing "Tarpon," "Reagan," and "Marian" without adding "Springs," "Ronald," or "Catholic." And who among us hasn't referenced bands as simply "BA," "CTJ," "DB," and "FloMo" (not to mention others)? edit: I see that your later post clarifies that you missed it rather than asking for a more complete name.

There is a Lincoln-Way video floating around the interwebs from Prospect (9/30), where they scored an 85.5 (87.3 this past weekend.) Just watched the video. Wow, they're really strong this year. I'm really excited to see how their show develops
