Here are my revised predictions now that we're a little less than a week out and we have a better idea of how things may shake up. I'm beginning to think the Oklahoma Invasion may look a lot different than what we were initially thinking. More specifically I'm thing Bixby will be a bit lower than most people initially had them and Union will likely be higher up. I think Yukon may have also shifted themselves from bubble band status to finalist status. It's going to be an interesting one! 1. Carmel H.S., IN 2. Avon H.S., IN 3. William Mason H.S., OH 4. Brownsburg H.S., IN 5. Fishers H.S., IN 6. Castle H.S., IN 7. Lincoln-Way Community H.S., IL 8. Lincoln H.S., SD 9. Union H.S., OK 10. Grain Valley H.S., MO 11. Yukon H.S., OK 12. Lakota West H.S., OH 13. Bixby H.S., OK 14. Southmoore H.S., OK ------------------------------------- 15. Center Grove H.S., IN 16. Deer Creek H.S., OK 17. Lawrence Township H.S., IN 18. Choctaw H.S., OK Music - Carmel H.S., IN Visual - Avon H.S., IN GE- Carmel H.S., IN No O'Fallon...? Knew I was forgetting someone!!! Edited my post to reflect them in.

It’s time for my Indy Super Regional predictions! I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out who will go where since the competition this year is through the roof! Just as excited to see who ends up on top as much as who ends up at the bottom of finals. Best of skill to all competing bands! Also, I went ahead and added scores, and a bunch of the bands I thought would be right out of finals since the competition is so intense.
1. Avon 92.90 2. Carmel 92.70 3. William Mason 92.00 4. Brownsburg 89.65 5. Fishers 87.75 6. Castle 87.25 7. O’Fallon Township 86.20 8. Union 85.68 9. Yukon 84.95 10. Lincoln 84.45 11. Lincoln-Way 83.70 12. Centerville 83.25 13. Lakota West 83.15 14. Bixby 82.80 <————————————> FO: Grain Valley 82.50 (16th): Center Grove 81.90 (17th): Southmoore 81.85 (18th): Choctaw 81.65 (19th): Lawrence Twp. 81.20 (20th): Deer Creek 81.05
Vis: Avon Music: Carmel GE: Avon
This regional is just PACKED. Soooo many amazing bubble bands that could swap out if they do enough cleaning right up until show time. As regimember previously said, it all comes on a good run and effective practices this week. Every detail matters when the top 20 BANDS are all worthy of being featured in the finalist spotlight. Not many people mentioning it, but I’d keep a close eye on Lincoln and Lincoln-Way. Something about their good/bad seasons has be fascinated, and wonders who will land on top of one another. Same for Yukon after beating Bixby last weekend! Feels like Bixby might be fighting for finals. (I still have faith they will clean up and push further into finals than I have listed). Putting Grain Valley in First Out also hurt since they’ve done so well. With that being said, the margin of good bands at this Super Regional is immense, so if they want to make it in, they have to bring something to the table that really wows the judges. Again, all 20 of those bands have a lot going for them. Will be very interesting to see where the pieces fall this upcoming Saturday!

Might I say this may be the most fun we'll have at this regional in long, long time? I mean, this event had a pretty dang strong lineup last year, so Very much agree but the hardest factor in last years cut-off was honestly Homestead... But I believe we've gotten to a point where most of these groups are getting a LOT closer to where they used to be pre-covid, even surpassing where they previously stood. I just think the finals bubble is running much deeper, as-well as a lot tighter than last year, and this absolutely might just be from my perspective. It's back to being about who's really better and not just who is simply good.

Let me try this prediction thing out lol.
Indi Super regional:
1. Carmel 2. Avon 3. William Mason 4. Fishers 5. Brownsburg 6. Castle 7. Lincoln-Way 8. Lincoln 9. O’Fallon Township 10. Union 11.Grain Valley 12. Yukon 13. Bixby 14. Centerville FO. Lakota West
Notes: I think anything could happen between Avon and Carmel. I could see either one taking gold at this regional. Mason has a show just oozing with that GE. Would be fun to see them shake things up but I still feel like it’s really just Avon and Carmel here for the gold. Fishers has a nice show with a lot of GE like mason I can’t wait to see how their show does in this regional. Now from 8-20 anything can happen. It just all matters who has the better run. All these shows are amazing and this BOA year has just been full of surprises.

Being from Indiana, I really look forward to the Indy Super Regional. This has been a little different going in as I typically see in person or videos of Avon, Carmel, Brownsburg, Fishers. But this year I wasn't able to get to any local competitions and there are basically no recent videos of their performances this year. I am hoping Castle has cleaned up and will be ready this weekend. They have another big freshman class, so they are mostly fresh, sophs. They are 252 this year. I hear they have a record size class coming in next year. So they could be near or over 300. I expect Avon/Carmel is continue their ultra close battles. They will probably be within a point of each other again. Perhaps one will win pre-lims, another finals. Mason is a wild card. Not much talk about them. I gather Cartwright is still designing their shows. I remember seeing a list of their guard which was around 70. We know that is the kind of thing that makes Mr. Cartwright very happy. Fishers and Brownsburg. They have scored close to each other this season. Fishers tends to peak more towards GN's.
Meaningless predictions:
I will go with Carmel taking prelims. Avon taking finals. Avon winning visual in both. Carmel music in both. GE- Carmel prelims, Avon finals.
Finals:
1. Avon 2. Carmel 3. Mason 4. Brownsburg 5. Fishers 6. Castle
I have seen O'Fallon. They look strong. Center Grove is interesting. They are scoring higher this season. But if they make finals, I predict towards the bottom half.
7-14 (no particular order) (Lincoln-Way, Lincoln, Center Grove, Yukon, O'Fallon, Centerville, Union, Lakota West)

Updated prelims schedules have been posted on the Director’s info part of the BOA website Thanks, it's been updated above as well. Worth noting that while this update doesn't change Brownsburg's judge panel, Bixby has now been moved from Panel 2 to Panel 1.

The entire Oklahoma invasion has now been relegated to the same panel. However, I would like to officially dub Block 3 of Saturday the "Oklahoma Block."

Not sure this matters too much, they were likely fighting for a "next 4 overall" spot regardless of panel Updated prediction of finalists after this update: P1 Top 5 (performance order): Brownsburg William Mason Lincoln-Way O'Fallon Union P2 Top 5 (performance order): Castle Avon Carmel Fishers Lincoln Next 4 possibles: P1 - Centerville, Bixby, Yukon, Southmoore, Grain Valley, Deer Creek P2 - Center Grove, Lakota West, Choctaw

Could see some of the next 4 in panel 1 knocking LW out potentially, but it's difficult to say. Mainly looking at Yukon or maybe Bixby/Southmoore taking the LW spot. I would also say O'Fallon isn't guaranteed a top 5 spot, but I think they are much more likely.

I think at this point, if any Oklahoma band is going to knock Lincoln-Way out of a top 5 spot, it would be Yukon, just given the results from this past weekend. But then again, even in season results sometimes don't translate to how other contests go, so I'm not going to say anything with 100% certainty 😂 As far as Bixby goes, I thought when they were in panel 2 it was going to be them and Lincoln duking it out for the last top 5 spot, but the GE numbers especially have me inclined to think that Lincoln would've had the edge had the panel assignments held. Their show is absolutely meant for a dome, and I feel that the GE scores from Youth in Music reflected that having finished ahead of Rosemount in GE outright in prelims and finishing within a tenth of Rosemount in GE during finals while winning the visual GE subcaption on that sheet

Was more just getting at that it's not super clear cut and that Bixby had more of a chance at top 5 in panel 2 than in panel 1. I had Bixby in my next 4 before the schedule change, but this concretes Bixby into my next four a little more confidently. All that said, I don't think it is outside of the realm of possibilities for Bixby to get a lot of cleaning done this week and have a stellar weekend and end up higher than Yukon/possibly in the top 5 of panel 1. They did beat Yukon in RR prelims after all! I also think people may be underestimating Southmoore, but it is really hard to say where they will land given the contests they have attended so far. One thing is for sure, it's going to be a tight race getting into finals!

Absolutely looking forward to getting my first taste of Oklahoma marching band in person! And Indiana too for that matter! It's going to be a spectacular weekend

Just curious, is there a reason why the powerhouse Indiana bands always get a Friday last block draw for prelims? (Other than Brownsburg) Id also like to know! Official information: Any band can opt for Friday performance times or to be in the general draw for Super Regionals. Any Regional, Super Regional, or Grand National Champion or Class Champion from the previous season can choose their performance day at Super Regionals. The 30 bands farthest from the performance venue are given priority for Saturday performance slots unless they opt for Friday. And keep in mind that last year's champion is allowed to select their exact prelims performance time. This true at every Regional, Super Regional, and Grand Nationals (as well as returning Class Champions at GN). Or simple answer on the official side: local bands will almost always be performing on Friday at Super Regionals. It's harder for non-Texans to see at San Antonio, but look closely and you'll find that most of the Saturday prelims times are bands from farther away (but still in Texas). Unofficial answer to the (assumed) REAL question: MFA isn't dumb. Having multiple large bands from the immediate Indianapolis area in the evening time slots means more parents purchasing tickets to attend. Money talks in how random the "random" draw times turn out to be. To be fair, clumping multiple top groups into one block also makes it easier to balance the panels because the "randomness" of other top-tier bands can be skewed to the other judging panel (see William Mason not on the same panel as Avon and Carmel, for example).

Friday night Indy bands makes sense for several reasons. Reserve Saturday slots for out of towners. A lot of the local Indy bands are still able to go to at least a half day of school on Friday which is good for obvious reasons. Also allows for families and friends who work during the day and support the band to be able to come Friday without it all being a big trip and missing work.

So with the previous years champion choosing their own time thing, are Carmel and Avon times next to each other on purpose? It certainly seems like it because they perform close to back to back here (it seems like) every year.

Center Grove I think Fishers show is cute, but I don't think the judges are digging anything about the Christmas theme besides it being "Cute". They are also lacking musical clarity with I think will stunt them from medaling for sure.
