Scoring makes sense to me. Byrnes is where they should be tbh.

I’m right on top of the field. I gotta know if that run felt as good upstairs or over the broadcast as it did down here. That was incredible!! We might have an upset in the making. Congratulations Tarpon Springs!!

I know Tarpon isn’t confirmed for this regional, but I’d kill to see BA and Tarpon fight it out for 1st. It’s far fetched to see Broken Arrow get 2nd but if they did, I can just imagine the excitement of everyone in the crowd (and in the forums). Tarpon jumping over BA would seriously be an exciting day. This aged well 🤭 (Posted that on May 7th)

Byrnes improved 3.075 over last week at Conway. They’ll take that and run like they stole it all things considered.

Former-local curious person here - wondering how many band members Tarpon has these days? They used to be tiny.

Former-local curious person here - wondering how many band members Tarpon has these days? They used to be tiny. It looked to me like they were numbering around 200, or just shy of there (~100 winds, ~40 percussion, ~40-50 guard). As one of the resident "vintage" forums members, one of the first BOA bands I remember watching was Tarpon in the late 90s, when they were still numbering in the 80s and fielding ~50 winds. It's still so surprising to me to see them at more than double the size.

Had a friend that didn't come upload this
Edit: He sent me Tarpon prelims, Broken Arrow prelims and finals, and Byrnes finals. His Owasso finals got corrupted (sucks), but I'll make an account and post those when their seasons are over.

It's still so surprising to me to see them at more than double the size. The big jump really happened when Tarpon went to the magnet program for performing arts. Having a large guard also helps their numbers. Ever since they burst onto the scene in the late 90s, Tarpon has had talent, a rigorous practice schedule, financial resources and a very talented director and support staff. No matter what their numbers are, those are ingredients that have long made them a formidable power.

Got around to watching Tarpon and WOW, one of the very best bands this year without a doubt. These kids emanate a huge sense of confidence every second they're on the field, and their skills back that confidence up. The whole show is so visually demanding and they pull it off with pretty much no problem. Winds sound fantastic as usual, even more so this year than other years in recent memory. IMO they absolutely earned that sweep.
Taking back what I said about Broken Arrow before...wonderful performance! Kinda wish they went all out with their visual design like past seasons, but I totally respect the more simplistic design. The ensemble sounds as incredible as ever, and I love their William Mason-esque uniforms. Their whole vibe reminds me a bit of WM's program last season. On another note, their directors must've loved the Boston Crusaders this year.
Before I'm done here, lemme shout out Stoneman Douglas real quick. Easily one of the best bands of the night with a very impressive show. They've gone through so much in the past few years, so seeing them succeed here is so great. These kids have a lot to be proud of.

Just watched Tarpon. It’s a crime that show isn’t going to GN. That is the most well designed and entertaining show I think I’ve seen from anyone this year. Not to mention how difficult it is, and how clean they already are. They would 1000% be in contention for the eagle. Just WOW

Gentle mention to the rankers that Tarpon is really really good this year, and that doesn’t mean BA isn’t really good too. Tarpon should move up, BA will move down some too, but hopefully it’s appropriately proportional.

Tarpon should move up, BA will move down some too, but hopefully it’s appropriately proportional. Tarpon might be the best band in the country this year, and BA is having a slightly down year, but for them, that means they're top 10 in the country and not top 5. What a remarkable standard they've set.
