Morton High School IL has an opening for a Co-Director. Craig Hatter is moving on to be closer to family in the Chicago area.
Interested to see what direction this goes. Established program with a great feeder system and outstanding community support.

Established program with a great feeder system and outstanding community support. I had an inkling that something along these lines was up when they had Nationals on their schedule for a while, and then it was gone. I'm assuming it'll be Katrina and whoever they hire? This will be their third head band/co-head director in 3 years, and their fourth new director since the start of the 2019 season.

This will be their third head band/co-head director in 3 years, and their fourth new director since the start of the 2019 season. Morton has been thru some stuff... especially this past year. Sometimes life is messy. You do what you can to get thru it. Lean on those around you and give it your best effort. Very proud of how we responded. Hatter stepped in and did an amazing job - sad to see him go but we wish him the very best. Katrina is a steady rock for the program and a great leader to have around. Morton has a good program in place. The kids are committed, there is a great support staff, and the community is behind them. My hope is for someone who will continue what has been built and help take us to the next level. Taking a break from nationals has been in the works for a while. The goal is for students to experience an "other" marching performance at least once in their 4 years in the program. Morton is participating in the Disney World Parade of Bands Thanksgiving week this year.

I would love for them to snag music in finals. In my eyes, the eagle is out of reach until a new program designer is in effect. This was a good year for them to make an adjustment like this, though.

The former director of Cinco Ranch (Katy, TX) is opening the new Katy ISD school (Freeman HS). Does anyone have any idea who Cinco's new director is? There’s a lot of potential in that program..

Going to be some new faces at a few Indiana Class B Guard programs this fall. Hearing that at least 3 jobs are open with good programs. Don't have total confirmation so I won't disclose rumors.

I believe it's Michael Klesch. The Cartwright fallout continues. Has it been CONFIRMED that Mason, BA, and Rosemount are dropping Cartwright? So far, he's still on BA's website (and one would think they'd remove him if they want to distance themselves), and I thought Rosemount was sticking with him? Maybe he's just working with Klesch? Also, while this was originally announced over a year ago, Darrin Davis at BA is now "officially" transitioning to BA's Fine Arts Executive Director. basentinel.com/longtime-broken-arrow-band-director-stepping-down-to-focus-on-fine-arts-programs/

Unless someone here knows otherwise... And there are many instances of Wes working with multiple music arrangers, so Mason working with Klesch doesn't mean anything to me. Bell had a quite a few different arrangers from back in their day. Although for vis design it seems only Leon does drill.

In addition to Ronan being at rehearsals the week of BOA Iowa, longtime Wes-collaborators such as Leon May, Colton Hines, & Michael Rosales will also be popping in from time to time at Rosemount during the maching season. Wes himself is currently not scheduled to be at any of Rosemount's rehearsals this season, though that could be subject to change.

I do know that Wes is officially not at BA (though I think that's more or less been confirmed for months now). Can't speak about any other programs. I'd be curious what other drill writers Wes uses... I know Mark Moreno wrote Mason's drill in the era they medaled (2016?). I'm not sure if he still writes for Wes. He's written/still writes for Seven Lakes and Cedar Ridge in recent years, which I believe are Jodie Rhodes programs. But the fact that he used to write for Wes makes me believe they are other drill writers that Wes uses....

As we’ve talked about on here, all of Mason’s hires have to be approved by the school board and Cartwright’s contract was approved last December. It’s on Page 7 of this document: go.boarddocs.com/oh/mason/Board.nsf/files/CYEJWD4E6DF4/$file/12.12.23%20Board%20Agenda%20Personnel%20Documents.xlsx%20-%20Board%20Agenda%20.pdf
