It'll be interesting to see how BOA handles mom and dad videoing BOA events this year. In years past I’ve had our schools video pass that I do for the band directors. I was told a few weeks ago that they aren’t doing video passes anymore but each participating school will be given copy of the high cam from Box5. I just saw boa make a post with an image that says no videoing is allowed. Only still pictures. I know they say that every year, and people don’t listen, but I wonder if they’ll start enforcing it this year?

Not now... and there's no going back unless they refuse entry to anyone with a mobile phone or tablet. It's meant to deter people who are afraid of being arrested.. there are always 10-15% who will follow anything that a sign says.. and band parents tend to be more gullible to buying in, just as they do rumors about other bands that are never true.

My understanding of the copyright law is that it is NOT unlawful to RECORD the performance. The illegality comes if you reproduce, DISTRIBUTE or PUBLICLY DISPLAY (i.e. internet, youtube, faceebook, etc.) your recording without permission. A parent is entitled to record the performance for you own enjoyment, you just cant post it online for all to see.
