Anyone think Center Grove and Noblesville have a shot at making SR finals? They both have been scoring well this season. I didn’t realize just how many Class A bands were performing in SR prelims: those seven plus Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield, Elkhart, and Ben Davis. I think CG has a shot. Considering more than half of the A bands are also doing SR, and 6 have a decent/sure shot of among finals, I amend my earlier response - there won’t be as many bands on the field for awards. Curious to know how some of them will handle Saturday: be at Lucas Oil in anticipation of making finals, or wait at Ben Davis to hear, and then leave quickly if they make it. Probably depends on their performance time at Ben Davis.

Understood after waiting in the EZ lot with a band for three hours between awards and finals performance in the past. Noblesville could have the tightest schedule if they made the final - performing 4:15 at BD. It is just interesting to have this overlap and the potential for a decent number of Indiana bands to make the SR final.

Does anyone have any Class B predictions or hot takes? It feels so much more competitive this year My predictions for advancements and placements 1. Evansville North: super strong this year. Also has a strong draw for the show. 2. Northview: They were able to top greenfield central post regionals and seem to be on a hot streak. 3. Greenwood: Have been regarded as strong since the start of the season. Strong contender for a podium spot. 4. Greenfield Central: Could go as high as 2nd, but being bested by Northview dropped them a bit in my eyes 5. Jasper: Great band. Just not seeing as much talk of them this year. Not excellent placing at regionals. 6. Concord: Could be higher depending on their run. After seeing them live, I think their visual cleanliness will play a big role in how well they place. 7. Munster: Solid placements so far. Placed well this past weekend at the Lincoln Way invite with a crummy draw and not so great weather. 8. Bloomington North: Could go a lot higher. Invitationals and regional placements have varied. Another wild card pick for me. 9. Pendleton Heights: Really neat show concept that is visually stunning. I wish they had gotten better results at this point. 10. FJ Reitz: I think Reitz will sneak their way in, but the 8-14 range is going to be ridiculously tight in my eyes. I honestly agree with this so well, the fight for 8 through 10 is going to be a crazy ride on Saturday, my hot take though is I do think Harrison will make it in

If a band is not performing until 10pm, they would likely have some drum majors at the semi state awards. But I could be wrong.

It is unlikely that any SR finalist bands will have student representation at Semi-State awards. A 10:00 p.m. performance time at LOS involves entering the competition flow at 8:50 p.m. so they would need to be on site by about 8:40 at the latest. Best case scenario with no traffic is a 20 minute drive from Ben Davis to LOS, meaning 8:20 out of the lot at BDHS so realistically they would need to leave earlier than that.

There will also be several bands performing at semi-state that probably won’t have student representation at the BOA prelims awards.

The BOA Indy Super prelim awards start like 3:30pm, so by 4pm or so, you will know who made it or not and there could be a large number of bands and FANS exit semi-state in order to get to Lucas Oil for staging and fans to get seats. Bands in the lower 7 scores for BOA could have lot time of 5pm for a 7pm performance and the top 7 need to be prepared to hit the lot by 7pm for a 9pm performance. The semi-state awards show starting at 7pm. I think this unique scenario this year may cause a noticeable decrease in fans for the awards ceremony, especially at Ben Davis for Class A.

Semistate predictions. Hard to judge the N vs S groups on the bubble, but I'm from the North so my bias will show.
The Locks in no particuar order: Avon Fishers Carmel Brownsburg Castle
The probables in no order: Center Grove Carroll
The Bubble in no order: Homestead Goshen Noblesville
Those are my ten State Finalists. I feel strongly about the probables. The bubble will just come down to performance and judging weirdness.

I’m going the opposite my moneys on Carmel to win state, but I can see Avon in “first” for semi-state as they do have the better time going right before the smaller marching bands.

Hardly a daring position...Avon has won state like 3X more often than Carmel or something like that. But I appreciate trying to inject some sort of intrigue into the contest. Carmel...Avon. Avon...Carmel. I keep watching the next tier of schools develop and cannot wait to have another horse in this race for top spot. It's coming!!!
