100%! That run was absolute FIRE tonight imo. They could have come out dejected and flat but instead focused it into an incredible run that they can leave the field, and this season, knowing they performed something special tonight. It's a performance that they can really be proud of. As for the penalty, it was a bit of both it seems like. The back left DM stand was setup within the endzone (as it has all season including ISSMA Regional) and the T&P judge decided that that was too much to prevent the next group from being able to enter in I suppose. It feels incredibly arbitrary in a way and even if followed to the letter of the rules, 3 points is far too excessive in this day and age when you often get bands separated from like 4th to 7 by mere tenths of a point! I know I'm late to the discussion on this, but I just wanted to see this is egregious. The field, THE WHOLE FIELD, should be allowed to be used by the band that is currently performing. It even annoys me that they allow bands to come onto the field before the previous band is completed with their performance - its distracting. The performing group getting a penalty for something like this is frankly disrespectful to the entire activity. This has been a thing since as far back as 2004 though too for Avon's Football Show. They had Endzone Tarps for both ends, but couldn't set up the one where the next band entered due to the rule. Thus, Avon could only use it at BOA. The winds of change for ISSMA come slowly, and often require gale force winds for any kind of movement to occur. How long were we stuck with the top 5 from the North and South Regionals causing a pretty bad imbalance of bands on making State instead of really getting the best top 10 to advance? Oh sure, it still isn't perfect, but the old way was much worse. @ me on that lol. Anyway, back to the show here!

Easily the best Brownsburg I've seen, and they have several weeks left. The brass clarity is substantially better this year.

Carmel is always musically stellar and visually clean. However, their shows just don’t keep my attention. I don’t think they’ll have any problem winning tonight though.

Clean and articulate but it didn't stir me like Avon, Mason or the fun of Fischers. Will they win? Good chance, but really think Avon pulled this out.

Carmel musically is just wow! I'm really looking forward to see them go toe to toe with Hebron for the Music Caption (and perhaps the eagle) in 3 weeks.

Carmel had some visual timing mistakes but otherwise was outstanding! Would not surprise me to see Carmel, Avon, Mason all within a point of each other tonight. Any 3 can easily win.

What a great two days of bands. Truly. I want to give a special shout-out to all the Oklahoma bands that traveled all this way to compete as well. It was great seeing each of you and wish you, and everyone else, safe travels home. Best of luck on the rest of the season to everyone. But as for tonight, well, this is where my rankings will generally really fall apart. I may be good at predicting finalists, but I tend to be that 'one judge' that throws a wrench on things. But hey, I like what I like and feel what I feel in regards to performance. It is of no slight to any group as it is all for fun. 1. Avon 2. Carmel 3. William Mason 4. O'Fallon 5. Brownsburg 6. Fishers 7. Castle 8. Union 9. Center Grove 10. Noblesville 11. Lincoln 12. Lakota West 13. Centerville 14. Choctaw Thoughts may come later in the week as tomorrow is set to be a day of rest with my still new wife and catching up on many ZZZ's I've missed lol. Suffice it to say, we've had surprises like always but nothing overly outlandish. Within BOA anyway....so far! Have a great night everyone!

For as surprising as some of the prelims results were, one thing does feel right: seeing Center Grove back in finals. Apart from last year, they had been in every Indianapolis regional finals dating back to when it became an annual regional in 1991. Great to see them back.
