West Broward just out here having fun As they should! The competitive aspect of the activity should never outweigh the enjoyment of participating and putting on a show for the audience.

Norwin! That was everything I wanted it to be when I saw the show announcement! Fantastic! Such a different take on the Lizzie Borden story than Arlington is taking this year. Norwin from the murder angle and Arlington from the justice angle. I love both, but Norwin's slightly menacing, eerie approach is so effective. It was Arlington!! I didn't get to see them yesterday so for some reason I was thinking it was an independent group lol can't wait to catch that show later!

The only other time I've heard this Meredith Monk song was in that 1998 Bishop Kearney "Animal Farm" show. They, however, did NOT have a green eggs and ham feature... much different vibe.
Congrats Chino Hills on a great show!!

Yes, there are props to assist with some of the visual elements, but Chino Hills just knows how to create their own world in the space they're given. So many clever little details and staging decisions throughout that show, and the music choices were terrific!

Center Grove always a solid group and one to look forward to. Felt like a step up from yesterday

What an interesting concept from Stoneman Douglas! Thoroughly enjoyed being taken through that learning experience

Not exactly sure what Flanagan was conveying but whatever it was the performance quality was there

Had to step away for a meeting. Someone please tell me Center Grove had all their blocks facing the right direction this time?! I really enjoyed their show yesterday, so I'm happy to hear they had a better run.

Northview! I can't put my finger on it but they seem to walk to the beat of a different drum than everyone else, but it works for them! Great vibes and the color changes really amped it up

Great vibes and the color changes really amped it up Perfect way of putting it. They seem to have really created their own identity with a lot of 60s/70s rock the past few shows. After my revelation on their school size this past week, I'm shocked to see how long they've consistently been in the SW game. Both them and Bellbrook have such small schools and continually hold their ground against schools 3-4 times their size.

Burg! I've had the pleasure of seeing this one many times this season and what a beautiful show it is! The track is phenomenal and the light-up tarp is a neat gimmick. Loved it! Young group and the program might be in a bit of a transition, but Burg isn't going anywhere

*not a judge by any means, nor am I enough of a guard person to know where groups "should" place (aside from the obvious reverse-ranking performance order), but here's how I would put the first 10 performances in SW:
Miamisburg Northview Stoneman Douglas Norwin Center Grove Chino Hills Flanagan Palm Desert West Broward Sunlake

El Dorado from start to finish could just tell they focus on perfecting the fundamentals and applying difficulty in places which make sense instead of throwing things in just to throw them in

They've got kids in elementary starting guard.

Carmel DEFINITELY had a post prelims talk bc that was a night & day difference from yesterday lol Agreed, but some of the risks they're taking may still be hurting them as the margin of error is still a bit high. This show can move up pretty dramatically, but they need a run where EVERYTHING is clicking.

There are a few major elements of WC's show that are reminiscent of their Sticks and Stones show. But I ain't mad about it. Their show is gorgeous. I can completely see why they landed in this spot after prelims.

Fishers and their baseball show a breath of fresh air after what WC put us all through, such totally different paradigms. Also, how fun that their pennants are a bunch of their fellow Indiana schools.

Ok so Tarpon. Obviously everything they're doing is at an incredibly high level. But I think my kid put it right when she leaned over and said "this isn't guard". There's just SO MUCH going on, and all of it distracting from what the guard is doing.

There's just SO MUCH going on, and all of it distracting from what the guard is doing. Was just getting ready to type something similar. My toxic trait is that I firmly believe winds have no place in guard or percussion shows. Let the kids shine in their respective activities. With that said, I'm ready for a Tarpon indoor winds program...
