"Applause" is an arts program produced by Ideastream, the non-profit that manages the Cleveland/Akron NPR affiliate WKSU FM 89.7, the Cleveland PBS TV station WVIZ Channel 25, and the Cleveland classical music radio station WCLV FM 90.3. In this new episode they spotlight the Bluecoats in the first segment (about eight minutes): www.ideastream.org/shows/applause/episodes/applause-july-28-2023-cantons-bluecoats-jzaureIt's a decent introduction to drum corps and to the Bluecoats recent aesthetic. I do wish they had mentioned the upcoming performance in Canton itself.

Each isd and school has autonomy on specifics- but I know they’ve tried to arrange more indoor time than they usually do this time of year- and they take more breaks than they’ve had to in the past. Band camp was morning and evenings with a break during the middle of the day- and a few days they only met once- but I think that was due to teacher meetings they had to attend. School starts tomorrow for us- so they’ll be to just after school rehearsals now.

Almost certainly better than most of the other sports teams.

When we learn drill, we do it with our water battles instead of instruments, so our water is with us. That could be common, but I'm not sure. The last week we were outside in the morning from about 7-11 and then indoors from 12:30-4 and then back outdoors from 5-7. We get lots of water breaks and sometimes go inside for 8-10 minutes during the evening session for quick cool off.

Or is that each day? (asking for a friend)

After August 1until the 4th Monday of August, there are no limits. After that time you are allowed 8 hours a week of marching with an extra hour allowed on game and contest days. But last week we had 5 12 hour days and a 4 hour day of rehearsal (minus 2 1/2 hours per day for a lunch and dinner break)

My entire marching career was in Michigan. I thought practicing in low 90s was brutal. I can not imagine low 100s. I always preferred the cold over the heat, which we got plenty of in October and November.

Totally unacceptable yet unfortunately completely unsurprising behavior exhibited by the BPD
