This is quite a fascinating Regional. Cabot could be Arkansas first band to win a BOA Regional, as they did beat Bartlett in Prelims by more than a few points at the Clarksville Regional in 2022, or Bartlett could be the fifth BOA Regional champ for Tennessee and first for them, or Harrison could have their 11th BOA Regional win in last 3 decade now, or Hernando could be the first Mississippi to win a Regional in nearly 4 DECADES!
Bryant HS = dark horse.

Bryant is a great dark horse for this regional.. i have a few dark horses. i dont think they will beat harrison but they definitely have the potential to medal. they are : munford, arlington( if they come) , desoto central and if they come then lake hamilton and franklin have great shots

Confirmed: Christian County H.S., KY (band calendar) A local rising star in Kentucky, steadily improving over the last few years to challenge the Commonwealth's best, and growing at a phenomenal rate. In the next year or two they will merge with Hopkinsville, another traditionally strong program, and could become a monster in our region. Look for them to do well at Memphis.

I can remember when they combined forces roughly over 10 years ago and formed the Co-Hop Outdoor Ensemble, and KMEA banned them from competing at KMEA contests.

But, that said, Hoptown has a long history as a band town and I think the community will really get behind the new combined group. With some very smart people running it, which both schools have, it has the potential to be a real beast.

On another note, pretty sure Murray's in for the Memphis Regional, too. I don't have, like, a cool Google calendar link to point to, so I don't want to say, 'CONFIRMED,' or anything... but, yeah, that's the word.
Lots of bands who are strong in their parts of the world but don't often compete with each other in one place... this one is going to be hard to predict.

NOT ATTENDING: Father Ryan. their facebook admin just told me that they are no longer competing in the fall Bummer. They’ve had some great shows over the years… though always more of an indoor focused program.

Thanks for the correction though, wasn't necessary but thanks.

Was a little crabby this morning and I was just like “Don’t people proofread before they post?!” But then I realized that I indeed had not put Franklin in the Not Attending list, so it was like talking in a mirror. 😂 thank you .. no big deal. we ALL make mistakes.. hope your day got better

I assume all of the Mississippi bands are skipping finals for State Evalution since, Hernando is skipping finals, and will be at Grenada HS.

I didn't know they had freedom to change time as it has been 1A first and later 6A, and since their MHSAA/MBA added a new class - 7A, I thought they would be pushed in the later period as all bands, but Olive Branch moved up a group (if they decide to stay in 6A).

Yeah some of the larger schools opt to perform earlier at Grenada state evaluations so that they can go to a competition later in the day.

Funny how some state associations have no issues with accommodating bands for that sort of thing...😐 The Mississippi situation is called "evaluations." Is it a championship round with placements determining advancement (like ISSMA and UIL) or just a rating that may or may not involve qualifying for something later (like OMEA)?

Is it a championship round with placements determining advancement (like ISSMA and UIL) or just a rating that may or may not involve qualifying for something later (like OMEA) i had kids graduate from desoto central and the way it works is more like a state festival ( no awards or placements given, only ratings). every public high school band in the state has to perform at the evaluations. they can choose whether or not they want to attend the state championships later in the year or not. they do have to receive all superior ratings at evaluations in order to be able to compete at the championships. the state will accommodate bands by allowing them to march earlier in order to make it to another competition.
