Finally some new AR bands. All it took was putting an event in their backyard. Or are they in Memphis' backyard? In that case, all it took was putting an event in their front yard.

Anyone have any insights into these newcomer Arkansas groups? Most of these new AR groups (groups we haven’t seen at a BOA show recently at least) are small to mid size groups that do relatively well in local competition. I don’t know if I’d expect a finals appearance out of any of them - maybe Arkadelphia.

Anyone have any insights into these newcomer Arkansas groups? All of those newcomer AR bands (Arkadelphia, GCT, Brookland, and Pottsville) has all shot up after COVID in their class. All of them placing above 5th place in their class. However, Arkadelphia are the undefeated consecutive Class 3A-4A State winner. Out of all of them Arkadelphia is one to watch out. They're pretty big too for their school size, and Pottsville the smallest band out of the 4 with a big sound. They had amazing show last year BOA friendly too. I have an record of their 6 years at Arkansas State. My 2020 scores are limited so I don't have record of GCT score. I put videos from each year just click on the placement. Arkadelphia2016: (3A) 1st place2017: (3A) 1st place 2018: (4A) 1st place2019: (4A) 1st place2020: (4A) 1st place2021: (4A) 1st place2022: (4A) 1st placeStill have the highest score in 3A: 89.440 Greene County Tech2017: (4A) 10th place 2018: (5A) 4th place 2019: (5A) 3rd place2020: ---- 2021: (5A) 5th place2022: (5A) 5th placeBrookland2017: (3A) 13th place 2018: (4A) 8th place 2019: (4A) 6th place 2020: Didn't Compete 2021: (5A) 3rd place2022: (5A) 4th placePottsville2016: (3A) 11th place 2017 - Didn't get to make States 2018: (4A) 18th place 2019: (4A) 13th place 2020: Didn't Compete 2021: (4A) 2nd place2022: (4A) 2nd place

Do NOT sleep on Christian County. That will bite you.
Just watched a video of Arkadelphia from last fall.. they're good! But if they're a lock for finals then I think we will see 2 Kentucky groups in finals as well.
Of course, I have a well known bias, so caveats, etc.

Micheal Stone took the reins of Harrison County, not Christian County. Oops, my brain farted. All good. Infact, Christian County and Hopkinsville will be merging schools next fall to create the all new Hopkinsville-Christian County Academy, and based on enrollment numbers they should be a new 5A school on the state level and 3A school on the national level. Both directors will be staying from my understanding.

Personally, I think with or without the merger, CC is a force to be reckoned with in the next few years on our state level stage. They have go to be thinking a state title is within their reach given all the turmoil happening with traditional powers in their class. And on the national stage? I think they'll make finals here. Not bubble, not 'if those above them don't bring their A-game'... I just think they're in that league. I think Murray will, too, by the way.

I think they've developed well, and they could very well win a championship this year, but I do think we're underestimating Harrison County. They weren't horrible last year, and it hasn't been too long since they were vying for a championship themselves. Plus add Michael Stone to the mix, a Harrison County alumni and well known director, I think they could be challenging for that championship as well this year. Especially with the turmoil that you mentioned. I haven't heard anything about delaying the merger. Last I heard they were still on the track to open in 2024. Who knows honestly. Nobody is exactly transparent anymore. Lol. Murray definitely will. They continue to grow, and once they get a grasp on the growth and design a show for the size of program that they have developed, look out!

The past two years for Harrison have definitely been odd. They’ve struggled to get their footing back after a pretty successful 2019 season. I’d like to say there is one thing holding them back, but it’s kind of everything… music isn’t the same, visual isn’t the same, show design feels produced but not super cohesive or impactful.
I hope they resurge a bit this year as I think most of their staff is still intact.

I hope so too, but if their design team is still intact, which sounds like their problem, then it doesn’t really matter how much better they get at playing and marching.

The design seems to lack any sort of direction or consistency year to year

I fell as though two different Harrisons are being discussed... I thought so too...originally we were talking about Christian County and Harrison County, because someone said that Michael Stone was at Christian County now, and I corrected them. I think some people might think we're talking about Harrison, GA. Lol.

Exactly two months until this contest! It's time for very early predictions. Rather than going through the headache of trying to guess placements, I'm making the predictions tier-based and in alphabetical order.
So exciting to have a regional in this area! Great opportunity for Arkansas and Mississippi bands that don’t usually get a geographical opportunity to perform in the BOA circuit. What’s most exciting about this show for me is that the bubble for finals is pretty deep here, with a good number groups who will have to fight hard for those last few remaining finals spots.
Don’t take TOO much stock into these predictions, as many of these groups are fresh faces and I mostly referred to last year’s ASBOA results for the Arkansas groups (as well as watching YouTube videos) and tried to compare those groups to established BOA groups. I anticipate many changes in the final outcome, though I think the top 9 are pretty solid, just pick an order.
Vying for the Title (1-2): Bartlett H.S.. TN Harrison H.S., GA ---------- Finalist Locks (3-9): Arlington H.S., TN Hernando H.S., MS Lake Hamilton H.S., AR ---------- Cabot H.S., AR Collierville H.S., TN DeSoto Central H.S., MS Munford H.S., TN ---------- Finals Bubble (10-16): Bryant H.S., AR Boiling Springs H.S., SC Christian County H.S., KY Hoover H.S., AL Lewisburg H.S., MS Murray H.S., KY Paragould H.S., AR ---------- Everyone Else (17-23): Arkadelphia H.S., AR Brookland H.S., AR Brighton H.S., TN Francis Howell H.S., MO Pottsville H.S., AR ---------- Greene County Tech H.S., AR Horn Lake H.S., MS
A: Murray H.S., KY AA: Lake Hamilton H.S., AR or Hernando H.S., MS AAA: Harrison H.S., GA AAAA: Bartlett H.S., TN

I hadn't really paid much attention to this one but it looks like a great lineup. Going to be one of the more interesting regionals in my opinion
