Add in Tarpon and Kiski(not likely), and you have arguably the top 5-10 AA bands at the same Grand Nationals. Has this ever happened? It’s going to be fun. Argyle H.S., TX Campbell County H.S., KY Cass H.S., GA Catawba Ridge H.S., SC Cheney H.S., WA DeWitt H.S., MI Greendale H.S., WI Greenfield-Central H.S., IN Jenison H.S., MI Miamisburg H.S., OH Norwin H.S., PA Reeths-Puffer H.S., MI (Tarpon Springs H.S., FL) Worthington Kilbourne H.S., OH Minus Morton and Kiski, I would say you’re right! Some groups obviously have a much better chance to perform twice than others, but this is still an incredibly exciting and deep AA field. I don’t think we’ve ever seen this much depth in this class at Grand Nats (at least since 2009 when the AAAA classification became a thing). as well a competitive Class AAA in a while Castle, IN Cedar Park, TX DeSoto Central, MS Deer Creek, OK Dobyns-Bennett, TN Franklin, TN Friendswood, TX Goshen, IN Homestead, IN Lakota East, OH Leander, TX Rosemount, MN Walled Lake Schools, MI (Madison Central, KY) Cary, NC Milford, OH just Blue Springs and Rouse🥲 missing out.

That trend has been changing over the last couple of years though!

I've heard whispers of another pretty good AAA band attending...perhaps not on the level of the ones already mentioned, but with how unpredictable they've been over the past decade there's always a chance.

Long long time ago in 1991. I believe every top level AA band attended except Fort Mill SC. 6 AA bands made Finals, the most ever. Of course the competitive field in BOA was not as large as today. Wasn’t this also well before the AAAA classification was instated? I’d be curious to know when the last time AA was the most competitive since then. yes, 4A started in 2009. The years after 1991 when 3 or more AA bands were in finals: 1992(4), 1994(4), 1998(3) and 2001(3).

From a staple staff member at Morton: "We are almost certainly not going to be there." Moving out of Confirmed and into Potential/Rumored. Officially off of their calendar.

I’ll just keep screaming it, but it would be awesome if BOA could figure out a way to reward the best bands in each class beyond one guaranteed performance at finals and four at semifinals. The classes almost all exist on very different playing fields and it would be great if the best in each could be rewarded.

Ok I got it. Lets get rid of scores and semifinals, and go back to ratings and whoever receives a rating of "1" make finals and announce the top 3 of each class in finals. BOOM!

Not this dead horse again. I have yet to hear a good argument against it… I have yet to hear and good reasons for it?? I just hear you beating the horse, yet no supposition of how this would even be accomplished? Hey let's move grand nationals to Texas!! Now there's a great idea!!

I feel like this could maybe be its own thread since it’s irrelevant to the 2024 Grand National competition and people have such strong feelings toward the matter.

I am SO excited to share that Mustang H.S., OK plans to attend Grand Nats this year!
Gosh - 5 Oklahoma bands already confirmed with an incredibly stacked lineup nationwide...sounds like I might need to look into an Indy trip!

It was a calendar I've saved from their old website, but I believe this year they updated their website, and their new website calendar has nothing on it, however the old website calendar just put up their incomplete schedule so that's why I'm just saying marching festival, and not confirming them.
