How have I gone this long without realizing The Colony HS is in Lewisville ISD? I thought it was in its own district or with little elm or something like that.

It should be mentioned that about half of the "Confirmed" bands - specifically, the small school bands - aren't necessarily officially confirmed, but they have attended every year for at least the last four years or more without fail, making it safe to say they will be there. One such band added GN 2024 to their calendar today: East Clinton H.S., OH will indeed be there.

4 choices outside of Hebron, 2 of which (to my knowledge) have never been: Flower Mound, Lewisville, Marcus, The Colony. I'll take any of them.

Unless of course it’s Leander ISD. And no, I’m afraid I can only tease, only making cybrunette ’s previous post age like fine wine. Damnit, I forgot about the Leander ISD as well. So, there's another 6 choices there, 2 of whom have never been: Cedar Park, Glenn, Leander, Rouse, Vandegrift, Vista Ridge. I'll also take any of THEM.

The fact that all of these schools are in a single school district blows my little Hoosier mind......

The idea that we could have Cedar Park, Leander and Rouse all attend GN in the same year has me a bit giddy with excitement. Not that any of the three are absolutely 100% confirmed yet. I would love to see Rouse make the trip while they're still in AAA, but if the reports that they will be the biggest Leander ISD school in the near future are true then they'll probably be in BOA AAAA sooner rather than later.

I have an odd feeling that next years competition season is going to shock some people. In good and bad ways. Usually I’m fairly confident in where I think bands will place and 9/10 I’m right. but this season it was more of a 50/50. after this season I’m probably going to have to be more open minded 😅

Some bands will come back down to Earth a little bit and other programs that have been steadily on the rise will replace them in the elite tier. We already saw some this year with banner seasons from Rouse and Pearland, Leander returning to San Antonio finals, LD Bell not only returning to finals but also making the top half and Marcus roaring back to the upper echelon. Of course I mean this from a BOA perspective only as I find UIL impossible to predict.

If there's one thing I'd love to see for the 2024 season it's a variance of commercials/ads. Have 2 or 3 sets of them so we aren't feeling the fatigue of watching them by the 2nd weekend. Same company is fine, just different content. (Weekend 1: Set 1, Weekend 2: Set 2, etc.)

I’ve found State judging on the new sheets to be pretty consistent between rounds but there’s absolutely nothing to glean from Area results to predict State results.

Don't forget Castle! And I think it's very likely Dobyns-Bennett is back next year too! Idk about DB, I'd say they may skip again if they're that much smaller (although they're still huge by comparison). I really hope Wando goes. Another band that needs to work on their numbers perhaps but everything else is great, I think they're ready to get back into finals. Numbers should be back to normal next year. They just graduated a large senior class last year and had a very small freshman class this year, mainly due to COVID causing many kids to drop band in middle school. But with how unpredictable they are, we probably won't know if they are going until October

IF Wando and JFB were to both have GN shows/designs in the same season, it would be magical for the state of SC. When was the last time they were both at GN's together?
Scarlett Confidential showed JFB what they are capable of. I can only imagine what they'll do this time, knowing what they know now and with those same show designers.
Oh boy please please please universe, let this happen.

There was a possibility of them attending but sadly it fell through due to conflicts with indoor percussion auditions and concert band rehearsals Hopefully they can attend in 2025 then! Sadly that's just as unlikely as 2024

Wando in 8th and JFB in 24th. Oh man having them there together again would be so great. Especially with the leap JFB made last year posting a 14th place finish. I do know that the design team at Byrnes has supposedly already started work on the show for ‘24. I imagine it’s mostly just story boarding at this point but that in itself is a good sign considering this past season’s challenges.

Things are usually very quiet around now. There will be a good bump of updates around the time next season's regional lineup comes out, but we won't get into the real groove of things until late winter.

If we're lucky the schedule might release on Monday or Tuesday. Most likely, the schedule will be released on Wednesday when the Midwest Clinic begins. That said, I do kind of wish BOA/MFA would do that countdown to the schedule release that they did in 2018 where every day during that countdown they revealed one piece of the schedule. I really liked that and I wish they would do it again.
