But why? Watch it online and see all those bands during semis/finals in person. As a neutral, that's what you may choose to do. The parents of those bands' students will be in the stands. Have a number of friends who are Avon and Carmel parents…they aren’t in the stands for that unless they are chaperones/on the field. Many of them skip prelims all together. My best friends who had a kid march in Centerville rarely went to prelims either.

If a parent is spending the money to travel to Indianapolis to watch their kid compete, they will want to actually watch their kid compete.

Just noticed that there have been links added for "interest forms" for the Date TBD/Location TBD regionals (California/Washington/Houston/Austin). Wondering if they're worried about these regionals?

I would see absolutely zero reason to worry about a single Texas regional, ever (unless it’s a venue issue).

All Texas regionals will happen no matter what. They may have subpar venues but the interest is there and MFA does not want to lose the money they make on those.

Looking at the form, it's just a signup for email notifications about updates to the date/location of the regional. I feel like "interest form" is an inappropriate name for it, as it doesn't even have a spot to put your school name.

So, uh, what gives with Des Moines having a max of 22, Chattanooga 24, Flagstaff (dome) 25, Conway 28, and Austin 24?

So, uh, what gives with Des Moines having a max of 22, Chattanooga 24, Flagstaff (dome) 25, Conway 28, and Austin 24? I can't speak to the others based on experience, but as for Des Moines (Northwest HS in Waukee), the limitation is the availability of truck/bus parking. A potential solution in the not too distant future is that Davenport Central is planning to add a significant amount of parking which would allow the event to move there if so desired. Currently Davenport Central doesn't have enough parking space available, even with a smaller maximum enrollment. thewho has added details about the lack of parking being the reason behing both Conway and Chattanooga having lower maximums. I strongly suspect that Flagstaff and Austin can be explained in the same way.

Makes me wonder if RRISD is renting out an even larger portion of the KRAC parking lot to that car dealer that has taken over part of it!!

The listing of number of bands registered has been changed to "current status." My question is this - what about a situation with anywhere from 6 to 9 spots? It is neither "Space Available" nor "Space Limited" so what is it?

I strongly suspect that Flagstaff and Austin can be explained in the same way. A friend in TXBands reminded me of the awful heat in Austin last year and then I remembered that BOA shortened the performance times to 12 minutes and ended prelims about two hours earlier than usual in order to keep the bands off the field for the hottest part of the day. I bet that is why Austin is limiting its enrollment to 24 bands. They either plan to go back to the 15 minute performance times and still end prelims early, which they could do with only 24 groups, or they are going to make the gap between prelims and finals even longer and keep the 12 min performance times. This explanation definitely makes sense for the Austin regional even though it’s disappointing to see this popular regional limited so much in numbers.

The BOA enrollment page no longer shows exact numbers, just whether there is “space available.”

Obetz, Des Moines, Chattanooga, Indy, and Grand Nationals have been changed to "Call for More Information." They added another category, but still haven't corrected the gap between "available" (10+) and "limited" (5 or fewer).

American Athletic Conference schedule has dropped today, which affects Memphis. Sun Belt conference is claiming their football schedule will be out no later than March 1, which would affect the Conway show.
Memphis open dates: 9/14, 9/21, 10/5, 10/12, 11/2.

Coastal Carolina open dates: 9/14, 9/25, 10/12, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9. For the southeastern regional, I'm wondering if it could possibly be held at Troy again, or at Center Parc Stadium, the former home of the Atlanta Braves, now the home of Georgia State: Troy open dates: 9/14, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/9. Georgia State open dates: 9/21, 10/5, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9.
