If East is able to beat Dobyns two weeks before this regional, then I mean….
1. Lakota West 2. Dobyns Bennett
Let’s make it happen 😂

I honestly don't get the Cass hype beyond that they play well, but the rest is inconsistent. I'd like Clover to be a medalist, but likely Lakota is stronger

BOA Louisville was the first to die. BOA Johnson City might be next. Oh no...why? Highways and bridges are destroyed in western NC and eastern TN. New ones are collapsing everyday. That part of Tennessee is still very much underwater. People can’t evacuate. I don’t mean to catastrophize, but how much of that can change in under three weeks? I already know of one group considering dropping Johnson City. Got to believe mumblings have been going around.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but Lakeside is out of commission for the week due to local damages by Hurricane Helene… should be back by this competition, but it’s a long road ahead. Hope everyone else who was affected is doing okay. 🙏

Was confirmed to me that several bands in the NC area have already dropped, unsure of the specific ones, save for one.

BOA Louisville was the first to die. BOA Johnson City might be next. As of right now there wouldn't be a way for most SC/NC bands to get there without going severely out of the way (up I-77 then down I-81)as I-26 between Asheville, NC and Johnson City, TN is closed.

Drop: William G. Enloe H.S., NC With Enloe and potentially other Bands dropping, how will this effect the schedule? Push back times until it's back to 15 minute intervals?

The schedule will be adjusted to minimize disruptions to the flow based on known attendees. The final schedule posted that week will reflect the best available knowledge of attendance.

I’ve been told by one of my NC buddies that in addition to Enloe, Green Hope, Panther Creek and Swansboro have discussed the possibility of dropping out as well.
It sounds like there are more groups discussing it, as well.
Looking like the show will probably still happen, but it will be smaller than anticipated.

How likely/feasible would it be for other bands to potentially register for this regional with others dropping?
Wondering if there would be a possibility for JFB to attend since they lost the Chattanooga regional...

How likely/feasible would it be for other bands to potentially register for this regional with others dropping? Wondering if there would be a possibility for JFB to attend since they lost the Chattanooga regional... There's been instances of where bands request to move their registrations to other regionals and BOA being able to do so within reasonable constraints. That's up for your band director to decide what to do and whether the circumstances are favorable to your band to be able to do so. However, the possibility of Johnston City canceling is very much present. We'll need to be able to ensure bands can actually reach JC first and if the upcoming storm this weekend won't develop further.

They seem quite a ways away from the issues Not minimizing damage that occurred out near those areas, but I think the specific reason in this case is I-40 West passing through Asheville is completely flooded, forcing the NC schools to go either 74 North into West Virginia then 81 West or 85 West into Atlanta then 75 North. Both are roughly 8 hours compared to roughly 4 (?) if 40 wasn't closed.

Looks like BOA has approved JFB for entrance into the Johnson City regional.
Now the question is will the district allow it and will all the parents get behind it...

IF JFB is able to make this regional, I feel like that changes the dynamic a good bit. The last time JFB faced Lakota West was nationals in 2022.

JFB would definitely have the upper hand, but the improvement from 2022 Lakota West to 2024 Lakota West already seems better. Will make for a good medalist fight! (Same goes for Lafayette, they could be a dark horse for 2nd place!)

Curious to hear people’s rankings now that we’ve seen many of these heavy-hitters attend other BOA competitions this year. I smell lots of surprises brewing!
