What do you think will happen in class b this weekend? I think the top 2 are groups that have never won a championship so celebrations will be awesome I would love to see Munster pull off the big W!

Im excited to see how far Munster could go this year, hoping for a top placing. Class A finals should be pretty straight forward, Class C also could be interesting.

is centerville the one doing the bridges > walls show If you mean Center Grove, yes. Centerville is in Ohio doing a show with music that has "Rhapsody" in the titles.

Have fun at State everyone! Maybe I'll see you at Grand Nationals!

Hope to run into some of you at Grand Nats - as an Indy local, I'm happy to give advice on places to eat, stay, etc.... Seth has spent more time watching bands in Lucas Oil than all the rest of us combined! He's probably spent more time at The Slippery Noodle, too. I'm skipping State Finals this year for the first time since 2011. I love the bands but the experience is awful. I'll be a semis and finals for GN's though. Seth will likely have the best seat in the place.

1-Avon: This is their year! When I saw them at BOA Indy I was absolutely blown away! That guard is on another level just like their hornline. The muted trumpet feature is mighty tasty. I’m not a fan of narrations, but I thought it fit well into the theme. Easily my favorite Avon show since 2015! (1)
2-Carmel: They’re band is massive! I’m sure the way they spread their members over the entire field helps with that illusion but I swear they have to be pushing near 400 members. Overall, Carmel is Carmel. They execute very well as always. I’m not a fan of the shows they’ve put out over the past few years, but one can’t ignore how well they perform. I will say Carmel makes such beautiful chords that resonates very well in the stadium (2)
3-Homestead: One of my favorite shows this season and definitely the best Homestead show since 2014. It’s a very creative take on a theme that has been used many times before by other bands. Love the pacing of the show and the music book is nice and meaty. Neat effect with the tarp at the end that’s clearly specifically designed for Lucas Oil. I enjoy every minute of the show. (3)
4-Fishers: I’m discrediting last weekend’s results strictly due to weather. If judges can get the numbers right, I see Fishers above Castle. It’s a cute, fun, entertaining show that is also performed very well. Their hornline has no problem keeping up with their tough music. My only complaint with them is their drill. Although all the colors are very pleasing to look at, I wish the drill was a little more exciting. Other than that, I’d consider this year a step up from last year! (4-5)
5-Castle: I wanted so much more from this group especially after last year. Hornline is great which has been the case for a few years now. To me, visual and GE are lacking (BOA judges did a better job reflecting that versus the judges from last week) I will say the ballad is very nice to listen to. Castle has all the tools to be an amazing band, but visuals are holding them back imo. (4-5)
6-Carroll: I’m very happy with the way Carroll turned out this year. Some really great GE moments throughout the show. Hornline has improved and the overall design of their show has definitely improved. (6-8)
7-Lawrence Township: Its a fun show with great crowd interactions. I think the vocals are too much at times though. Love the jazzy, big band feel I’m getting from them. It definitely fits LT’s style of shows. (6-8)
8-Brownsburg:I believe I read it on a post here, but someone mentioned how they thought the music book was ”over arranged” and I’d agree with that. A lot of crunchy chords which I’m not one to complain about but I feel like it was the entire show and it made clarity a little tough. Granted their show is call “Twisted” so I guess that’s kinda the point right? Anyway, I thought they also had some cool visual moments. Especially when the guard lifts their dresses out to the side. Super trippy to the eyes. (7-9)
9-Center Grove: I really want to like this show, but performance is getting in the way of that. Hornline seems to struggle a bit with the content. Drums are solid though. Guard is definitely boasting their scores. Overall, I’d take this show over 2017 and 2018 any day! (8-9)
10-Penn: This is the one top 10 band that I haven’t seen this year. I did manage to catch a video of them. Their props are neat and seem to add a decent amount of GE to the show. (10)
I think 2019 is the most competitive year that I’ve had the pleasure of watching. I can’t wait for Saturday to see how things pan out!

After watching Penn’s show, I could see them anywhere from 8-10. Same with Center Grove.

I’m gonna have a go at it and make my own personal predictions so: 1. Avon 2. Carmel 3. Fishers/Homestead 4. Fishers/Homestead 5. Castle 6. Carroll 7. Lawrence Township 8. Brownsburg 9. Center Grove 10. Penn
Again these are imo. 3-6 is really a tough one for me I can see that getting mixed in a lot of different ways.

So after looking at the State final's schedule and after my prediction it's either Munster or Greenfield-Central for class B. I'm thinking Munster though. 2017 they got fourth. 2018 they got fourth. I'm going to knock on wood for this but third time's a charm 2019 is their state championship year.

I'm new at this, but it's fun, so here's my attempt at Class A:
1. Avon -- impressive, entertaining, complete package this year. Can't wait to see them make their run at Grand Nats. 2. Carmel -- Carmel will leave everything on the field in Finals. If Avon comes out on top, it won't be by much. 3. Homestead -- enjoy their show and strong Visual impact 4. Castle -- may not be flashy, but strong musically and clean execution keeping them close to Homestead 5. Fishers -- fun show but Visual and GE scores plus performance order will keep them in a lock for #5 6. Lawrence Township -- I'll give them the nod for #6, love the trumpet soloists 7. Carroll -- beautiful show and love the Visuals, could snag #6 8. Center Grove -- hard to bet against CG, so I have them landing here. Wow the color guard is terrific! 9. Brownsburg -- great year they are having, and beautiful show 10. Penn -- another solid effort this year by Penn
Good luck to all participating bands this Saturday in all Classes. Enjoy the experience--you are all champions!

Good luck to all participating bands this Saturday in all Classes. Enjoy the experience--you are all champions!Thank your for the kind words about Brownsburg. Many comments seem negative about Brownsburg, especially regarding the golden ticket, but our students have worked so hard on this show...as all bands do, of course. We are very proud of their progress and diligence. It is a tough show musically and in drill. We hope they have received some credit for that. We feel they have earned their spot. We have been among the bubble bands for years. The way they are working, they hope to put an end to that. But thank you for the nod.

And by that I don't meant simply a late draw, but rather Carroll, MPLT, Center Grove, and Brownsburg all appear one after the other which will give all of them the fairest possible comparison with each other. No one can suggest that performance order helped anyone here...except maybe Penn going earlier and following Avon. I have Brownsburg in 8th in my pick but could see them as high as 6th with a great performance.

Here's my predictions:
1. Avon (1): Beautiful show, clear winner, soprano soloist and trumpet and flute are outstanding. Probably one of their best runs at state finals since all the way back in 2009, god I loved that show.
2. Carmel/Homestead (2-3): Call it an upset, but with the patterns going on recently, Homestead has been catching up. They were at first almost, 5-ish? points away from Carmel, then the next week they're only 1.5 behind. I feel like this will be the most interesting result, with Carmel having a GE monster of a show and a bEAUTIFUL SOLOIST, and Homestead as well, with their show being quite out of line with them in previous years, both music selections and the way they perform them are incredible. Also, can we talk about how Homestead's alto soloist hits that note at the end of their ballad? oh my GOD. AND CARMEL'S FRENCH HORNS SOLOIST TONE DIFOJEJWIOJDOIGE
3. Same thing as above, oops, i typed it all up there
4. Fishers (4-5): Music choice and visuals are amazing, probably one of the prettiest shows to look at, the sound as an ensemble they create is OUTSTANDING. I feel like their run at semis isn't even half of what they can truly do, and I'm certain at state they're going to perform much better.
5. Castle (5): Beautiful show, State is going to be their last performance, so I will be expecting LOTS of energy from their performance. They have their moments, and I truly love that. I feel like next year, with better show design, they will be back in the race for top 3 in Indiana. But so far this year, they're doing a great job with what they have.
6. Carroll (6-8): What can I say, quite the breakout group. Their show design is pretty great, and their opener sounds amazing. State will also be their last performance so expect lots of cash money moments. With the semis score sheet in mind, they have a really good shot at placing this high, and if their hornline gives it everything they have, I could see them topping Castle, and maybe even Fishers.
7. Lawrence Township (6-8): Amazing show this year, really gets the audience going. They clearly score a lot better at BOA, and I really have no clue why. I feel like if they have a great run, they'll finish above Carroll. No matter what, this show will always die as one of my favorites, joining my collection with their Rumpelstiltskin show.
8. Brownsburg (6-8): I have no words about this show. It's simply beautiful, Wes at his finest. The musical side of things are spectacular, and the visuals are utterly INSANE, everytime I watch this show, I find something new to love about it. State will be their last performance, and I can't wait to see what this show sounds like with the energy. Also I forgot to mention how great their individual music moments are, simply beautiful.
9. Center Grove (9): I feel kind of bad for this group this year. They fell off from last year, but the ensemble is still incredible in so many ways. A director change is going to hurt everyone, and the kids are sure doing their absolute best. I love this show, and I truly believe next year is going to get them places with the proper staff changes.
10. Penn (10): Unfortunately, I've only seen this show once in person. The energy is great, and I love the props, and I feel like the visual side of things are really strong. The group deserved to make it in, but I feel like with the strict judging of ISSMA, it'll be hard for them to break past some of the groups we have here. Not to take anything away from those kids though, they are performing the HECK outta this show.

Brownsburg’s show this season is absolutely incredible! Their visuals add so much dimension to the field and at times it is quite mesmerizing to watch. They looked fantastic at semi state. I really enjoyed their music as well, it really fit the show theme. They’ve for sure put in the work, and it is paying off. I really enjoyed watching them this season. Carroll’s show is also very good, their music is just gorgeous. I’m hoping for a high finish for them! Their lights at the end of the show really tied it all together! Penn’s show is pretty awesome as well. Their season seemed to start off rough, but undoubtedly they deserve a spot at ISSMA state finals. They’ve improved greatly every week and hopefully one final performance could set them apart from other groups their show is unique and very intricate. There’s a lot visually happening, which is hopefully going to pay off. There is one particular part of the show that just gave me chills.

What are some things to watch for this weekend? My predictions Class A. Avon has a shot to be on top and end Carmels streak. Fishers beats Homestead Class B. Munster and GC are searching for there first titles ever with Munster pulling off the W. Class C. Princeton returns to state for the first time since 1991. Before I moved here to Indiana. Western wins. Class D. Lewiss Cass returns to the top with Forest Park placing second. Anything else I or anyone should watch for? I will be at State all day and I cant wait.

Just noting that State is not BBurg's last performance - they will be at Grand Nationals, performing Friday evening. Also, if you have the chance to watch their show this weekend, keep a close eye on the french horn player at the end of her solo......

Y’all goobers really think Fishers is gonna beat Homestead Does castle just not exist now? I’d be surprised, especially with them back to back. I think Homestead’s better visual design will be obvious in this situation. Castle is solid, but I don’t think it’s enough show.

Y’all goobers really think Fishers is gonna beat Homestead Does castle just not exist now? There's a possibility that Fishers could best Homestead, but I agree that it's not likely. However, I do think Fishers will top Castle. After beating them by over 3 points at BOA Indy finals, I think Fishers will be back on top at an indoor show with no wind! Castle plays beautifully, but their show is a bit simpler than in years past since they're not going to GN.

To all visiting Indy, please remember this will be an INSANE day. Bands.... and traffic.
The Monumental Marathon is this weekend (11/9) from 4:30 am to 4:30 pm. The street closures are here. Capitol and Meridian will be the main ones shut down. If you are coming down from the north, I suggest you take the exit for MLK St./West St. (MLK turns into West). Coming from the south, Missouri St. Be warned parking will be EXTREMELY limited. Vice President Pence is rumored to be in town apparently from 4 to 6. I see no mentions of plans anywhere, but it'll be safe to assume that downtown will see even more closures. Make sure you arrive early before then! Lastly, the Monument Circle is premiering a new light system tonight in "Shining a Light on Indianapolis". Expect similar crowds to the Circle of Lights event at the beginning of December and the circle to be shut down. I would plan immediately for exit south of Lucas Oil towards 70-W or 70-E. Honestly- I would suggest going 70-W as there will likely be a massive, massive congestion towards 65-S and 70-W. Be prepared! Early arrival is highly suggested.
