So, do we have anyone at LOS to give us a review of the class A groups as they perform?

Cass again? They have to be the most dominant marching band in Indiana History!

Fishers just had a amazing show. Now to see if Homestead can have an amazing show. Lewis's Cass was strong this year. Now we wait.

Fishers: BEST performance I’ve seen this season. Dynamics were done very well. Love the clarinet feature in the beginning. Very difficult music but played with precision. Guard was excellent- great with rifles! This is one of my fave shows to watch. They even added candyland kids to the end of the show which was a FUN surprise!

Homestead: they came out ready to win. Solid full music performance. There was one brass ensemble feature that I felt was not as strong as has been in past performances. The drum feature on the stage was powerful and pounded LOS. Great job guard. Now the question is... who was better in the judges eyes... Fishers or Homestead? I personally enjoyed Fishers much more.

Fishers came out strong. Sounded great and loved the kids at the end.
Homestead had the best run I had seen from them this year. Loved the addition of the large flower triangle at the end.

Avon: PERFECTION. Not much more to say than that. I could watch their guard all day... they perform moves no others can. My only drawback is that “8 perfect notes” said over and over. Although the competition is far from over, I do believe they will be the Class A state champs.

It feels like everyone is coming out strong tonight, I can’t wait to see how it all shakes out!

PENN: A nice performance from Penn. Their music was played well as an ensemble but I found them to be loud or soft and this is an area that could be improved. I love the seesaws and they do an excellent job of using them for both guard and wind players. I just wish they didn’t have so many because it became distracting for the band to march in the small space in front of it during the 2nd movement and in between it during the last movement. Marching has improved since I saw them at regionals but still some spacing issues and not squaring body to the front when marching.

You guys think that Fishers broke 90?
Fishers opened up and set the bar really high tonight, and I felt that Homestead came in and totally went in after it. After Avon, I'm not sure how scores will pan out since tonight opened up with 3 high quality performances, and it's tough for Penn to come in after Avon. Anything goes, I guess.

Castle: love the music... intertwining the song “Fix You” throughout was beautifully done. They did an excellent job of blending. I love the solo dancer. She is the star of the show. The one thing I have wished during this entire season is that she would be in a different outfit to really stand out. Thank goodness for her blonde hair! There are parts of the show that I find a bit boring and lackluster. But overall a very strong performance. I think every band is coming out with their VERY BEST!

Fishers set the bar super high for today. Absolutely amazing show. With Homestead after, I feel it’s going to be a great comparison by some qualified judges, but in my amateur opinion, Homestead won by a fair margin. Avon came on after and was near-perfect. I feel like with one of the best Homesteads i’ve seen in a while, they’ll definetly be closer to Avon than Fishers. Of course though, Avon was AMAZING tonight. Definetly the clear winner.

CARROLL: love that opening! What an excellent use of guard outfits. Lucas Oil - I wish they could dim lights to give us full effect of their “light show.” Nice flag work - beautiful colors. I don’t like the singing- perhaps it would have been more impactful to bring out a choir for that moment? I mean if Carmel can bring out an orchestra last year, they could bring a choir! I think there are areas of marching to be improved - I found parts of the drill design to be muddled.

obviously we know placements, but rumor is western only won C because of a penalty on Edgewood. Just curious to see a recap and score so that can be proven/disproven.

LAWRENCE: What I’ve said all season... most entertaining show, but it’s not a marching band show. The focus is on the two singers and the band on stage. It’s not technical in any way: music, marching, or Guard. Nevertheless, they made me bop my head and dance in my seat. They did have some mic issues tonight, which was unfortunate.

CENTER GROVE: There band has decreased in size these last few years, so it’s obvious that they won’t have them at big band sound. But tonight they seemed so quiet. Would have liked to hear more sound. Sabre work was very good in the beginning. I’m glad CG got rid of the smaller field show size. But it’s time for these walls to go. I’m ready for something new from them. Percussion- nice feature!
