Alright everyone, here are my last quick thoughts for Prelims. As for tomorrow, I’ll see what I can do but I’m not as young as I used to be and sitting through a majority of Prelims is just rough. Not to mention the emotional drain Homestead put on me earlier lol. Also, here are the final Panel 2 rankings from me. I may try to put a combined ranking together tonight but we’ll see how I’m feeling later lol. They are just my opinion and for fun! So try not to take them as gospel or too seriously please. Anyway, until next time, stay happy, healthy, and your beautifully nerdy self!
Worthington Kilbourne - I can safely say now that it is a treat to see you each year. You play wonderfully and your visual game continues to improve. You’re definitely really starting to creep up there. Keep on cookin’!
Homestead - Please refer to my Homestead specific post from a bit earlier. Big Big feelings to be had in that from me to say the least.
Jenison - I love that you built up your props instead of keeping just the framework you had in Toledo. That extra bit of detail may be a small thing but feels like at the same time adds so much. It is certainly appreciated by me. Your show was awesome then. It is spectacular now! Just love your music and the musicality you played it with. I’m not a particularly religious person, but that show moved me. It’s a very emotional show and the passion you played it tonight was top notch! Great job!
Reminder. Like I said for Panel 1, any band I missed seeing and thought they would place in a certain group, I placed in parentheses. Where I put them in within a group is not indicative of where I think they placed within that group. I also included the “first band out” of my top 20 just like Panel 1. Also, Onward to those rankings!
Panel 2: Broken Arrow Carmel Tarpon Springs Castle Bridgeland American Fork (Leander) Brownsburg Dobyns-Bennett Homestead (Don’t accuse me of homer-ism when I wanted to put them a little bit higher! LOL) Fishers ———————————— 12. Jenison Stoneman Douglas Norwin Worthington Kilbourne (Rosemount) Walled Lake Noblesville Argyle Mustang ———————————— 21. Centerville ———————————— Bands missed (Nixa, Newberry, Leander, Rosemount, DeSoto Central)
We all know a lot of truly amazing performances will not move onto Semi-Finals, but they all deserve to be applauded on a season of hard work and putting it out there for band nerdz just like us. Yeah, that’s the standard ‘who-rah-rah’ spiel we hear so many times, but there are certain circumstances where it truly applies. I hope you all took away some amazing memories and has amazing experiences. Thank you all for a great season!

No Stoneman Douglas is probably my personal biggest surprise. No Mustang, Goshen, Centerville, Lawrence Township, Plymouth-Canton, Westlake, Lakota East, Center Grove, Floyd Central, Clover, Campbell County, or Miamisburg.
I can't say I don't understand or am mad about a single band who got in. Every name called was incredible. MASSIVE congrats to Deer Creek, Argyle, Cass, Catawba Ridge, Bridgeland, & Friendswood as first time Semifinalists!!!!! Huge congrats to to Rockford making their way back in, and Bartlett, Marian, & Walled Lake maintaining their Semifinalist status!!!! I'm so thrilled for these groups!!
Now time to decompress from two days of band before a giant day of band tomorrow!!!!

I’m so sorry Mustang and Stoneman Douglas. I really thought you’d be in there. This was no easy Grand Nationals. One of the toughest Grand Nats ever.
