North Hardin's ballad is in the mix for ballad of the year. That euphonium was extraordinary!

Beautiful job by the Euph soloist into the Giacchino piece. That soloist's tone is among the best we'll hear all weekend. Agreed; he was so lyrical & musical!! Gorgeous ballad. I always love NH. I do feel like they might have bitten off more than they could chew this season, but I do appreciate the demand. And not just in terms of demand; that's a heavy, dense theme & music book that I feel would have been better suited in the hands of Marian or BA. But I really applaud their efforts!! Very outside of the box for them.

Class AA goes up to 1250 students in 10-12. Oh wow, am I working off the old numbers? I've been thinking it's 1050 all this time. The reevaluation, that went into effect last year, raised the AA limit and is one reason there are so few AAA bands this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the AA limit drops back down in the next reevaluation in 2021.

I wouldn't be surprised if the AA limit drops back down in the next reevaluation in 2021. That's right, I forgot they have periodic evaluations. I would almost hope they'd raise the AAA ceiling. I don't think AA is badly balanced where it is, but there are quite a few former AAA bands that are in AAAA territory now.

Speaking of biting off more than they could chew, hello Forest Hills!! They actually did a really solid job with that, although it always amazes me that not-Tarpon bands think they can do old Tarpon shows cleanly. But. Loved the visual package, the massive band, Alanis as a closer, all of it. I missed most of Prelims yesterday so I didn't get to discuss....@n.E. Brigand or Allohak or any of our other Ohioans, what's the deal with this combined district band? Financial like LT & LW, or "just because" ala Normal Community?

I'm really excited to see what that Forest Hills band can do in a few years. I felt about that show the way I did in Lincoln Way's first year. You could see something was there, they just need a few more years to get this relationship to work. Love the production.

I agree with Allohak. James Madison & Milford will be 2 & 3 respectively. For Class A I'm going with: Bourbon County Norton Estill County Agreed on A as well I'm going with Estill, Bourbon and Norton. Grant it, my selection may be biased. ;-)

Really bummed Fishers got such an early performance slot yet again. They've gotten progressively better these past three appearances, and I really think that show is worthy of finals. With them performing that early, it may be tough to get in when they're already barely on the bubble (in my opinion, of course). Edit: Even worse, they're literally the only "top 22" band to perform before the break. Yikes.
Also, welcome to world class, guard!

Fisher’s show has really grown on me this season and has become one of my favorites in Indiana. Unfortunately that was not one of their best runs this morning. Combined that with the early performance time slot and..... yeah. They are definitely a band on the rise though. I guarantee you that they will be a powerhouse in the next few seasons.

I promise this won't be my recurring theme, but I do think when all is said and done, Fishers bit off more than they could chew as well. I must admit I thought they'd be the "it" band this year, after shooting up so high at last year's GN, then the guard winning WGI SO this past winter. They're not quite there yet. I think there's still a bit to be figured out design-wise and especially in the pacing of the season. That was a fantastic show, but nowhere near the level of execution I'd like from them if they want to start knocking on the door of Finals (which we all know they will be soon enough!). Either way, that was an incredibly entertaining production, and I can't wait to see where the next few years leads Fishers.

Can't say I know for certain, but I would guess financial. Turpin and Anderson aren't the most affluent areas in Cincinnati. Glen Este and Amelia high schools did the same thing many years ago just down the road from them.

Miamisburg was a great surprise for me. That guard is simply insane. A couple little hiccups but overall solid show. Gunna be a close one in AA between them, NH, and Marion I think.

Miamisburg was really nice!! I really feel like they fit into Semis well. Second time in ever and the first time since....'14 or '15? Either way, well done, Miamisburg! A passionate & clean performance that showed you belonged.

I'm also jumping on the Miamisburg train! I missed a lot from that show in prelims. I see why they were top 22 now. If that drill were a little cleaner they could maybe take the AA Gold...they may still...

Marian Catholic has a tough music book as always but the show is just simply too dirty to be in finals. I will be extremely surprised if we see them back in this season as the top 12. We may see them tonight as their class rep... maybe.

Sooooo glad I got to see that live. I’m pretty sure I’ll see that one again tonight in some capacity. Just an immense improvement from what I saw on the stream yesterday. The level of demand and responsibly is unmatched by virtually everyone.

We may see them tonight as their class rep... maybe. I agree. Very demanding musically, but too dirty. Feet were especially all over the place. But I also think they end up getting the AA title. Side note: Was the intention that the show would always be about Lilith/Eden in its final state, or was that a re-write towards the end of the season?

You know memorizing music in the Marian Catholic marching band is next level difficult. Just awe-inspiring to listen to all that musicianship, regardless of placement!

Marian should win AA and they've put themselves back on the bubble in my opinion. I think they'll end up just out but I wouldn't be shocked to see them sneak in either.

Solid AA champ and on the bubble. If content is rewarded, they're in. I do imagine as well that they'll be just out, though. Either way, I don't think we're done seeing Marian as a GN Finalist for the foreseeable future.
