I don't, but I think they should pull out of BOA. Come back in 2021 or 2022. Anyone have any word on Tarpon Springs or any other bands in Florida. Mainly asking because of everything hitting the fan down there.

Haven't seen anything related specifically to band, but Wake County Schools in North Carolina have postponed fall sports.
If it applies to band as well then Cary, Panther Creek, Green Hope, and Green Level are BOA participants that will be affected.

Washington Twp Schools in Indianapolis just announced online only classes for Fall 2020. This has no impact on BOA (North Central HS) but so far as I know it's the first Indiana school system to cancel in person classes for Fall. I do not know how this impacts extra curricular activities.

Wake county is one of the largest school districts in the nation I believe. I think a lot of these larger districts have to adopt to a much broader set of issues that might arise from covid, thus these more impactful sweeping measures.

I do not know how this impacts extra curricular activities. They technically approved a "virtual only" start to school. They will reevaluate as the conditions in the county evolve. All ECAs have been suspended for the time being.

Whether it’s that it was only recorded all at once today by someone just now noticing or a lot of Texas bands just dropped out of several BOA Competitions today....that’s a sign if I’ve ever seen one.

Keller ISD (Keller, Timber Creek, Keller Central, Fossil Ridge) and Richardson ISD (Berkner, JJ Pearce) are officially out for the season. Two DFW area districts. Wonder if we'll see any more following their lead soon enough.

I know Lewisville is going to try to hold out a little bit longer.

For another notable Texas ISD, Birdville has dropped. So that takes one more off the GN list.

Mainly asking because of everything hitting the fan down there. I feel like Tarpon will most likely come back in 2021 depending on how much money they spent on props/silks/FJM Accessories/etc. That’s probably the case for most bands for anything this year which is why some are cancelling early, save their money save their time. The only real reason I could think of Tarpon not attending next year and returning in 2022 is that either they’ve already done something expensive that can’t stretch into the next season or they really really really want to keep their every other year streak correct staying on even numbers.

The populations of Wake and Mecklenburg counties are pretty close to the same but the virus numbers in Meck are fully twice what they are in Wake, so I fully expect Charlotte-Meck bands to cancel their seasons soon as well as bands in surrounding counties. Lincoln County, where I am, canceled the competitive season for the bands already.

from what i have heard from my band directors and other band directors BOA has no plans to end the season, yet. Nope, however with the amount of names dropping out, eventually they’re gonna have to call it quits, especially since a lot of schools are releasing info on their plans for the first semester and they aren’t all exactly in favor of continuing extracurricular activities....

from what i have heard from my band directors and other band directors BOA has no plans to end the season, yet. Yeah this would seem to be correct. But with these cancelations coming by way of district decisions, at this point the bands seem to have made the decision for BOA. It still seems like a majority of bands are trying to salvage something, regional, state, and local levels still might be possible? Who knows at this point. If BOA drops GN first but leaves the rest I’d be a little surprised. I think they wait and make the call all at once ( albeit probably by the end of the month)

Since Round Rock ISD is being very adamant about delaying in person school openings what does this mean for BOA Austin? Obviously we're not sure if RRISD is going to cancel band yet but it seems more likely every day.
Austin is held at Kelly Reeves which is owned by RRISD. Would they still lend out the stadium without operating the regional themselves? I know McNeil was the official school host that dealt with concessions and whatnot last year. Obviously if by miracle BOA happens there won't be concessions which does hurt their fundraising.
In short if RRISD does cancel marching band activities would BOA Austin still be in Kelly Reeves? I'm obviously leaning to yes but can't be too sure.

I'm assuming BOA won't cancel until their sure what their alternative will look like. (Some circuits are saying outright that they're canceling all activity; others are offering virtual opportunities to replace their competitions.)

If the school district is delaying all in-person learning for the beginning of the school year, no way in hell the school district also approves a use of its stadium for a marching band invitational.

Info given to event staff, which we've been asked to keep confidential, says that everyone should be patient for just a little while longer and not spread baseless speculation about what plans there may or may not be to cancel events and what the timing for such cancellations may look like.
There's a lot of misinformation in recent posts in this thread.

There's a lot of misinformation in recent posts in this thread.I've heard they are going to be doing three minute, audio-only shows with the bands performing remotely, but with full capacity crowds in the stands at the original site venue watching, or listening, over the PA system. Weird.
