And I'm pretty sure WGI's been doing that for at least 10 years. If not 10, then close to 10. I've inquired about that, to no avail. However, the target date is 5/13. With some new exciting information. Care to elaborate?

There's a huge difference is automation that makes it much different. WGI's registration process is entirely online, and the registration system is linked to their website's database, so that when a group registers, the list of enrolled groups is automatically refreshed.
BOA's process is a little bit archaic. It involves mailed in forms, online Wufoo forms, pdfs emailed in, and I wouldn't be shocked if there are still a few registrations over the phone. Of course that generates a lot of manual work to add all those different inputs to MFA's salesforce instance that they use to keep track of who is going where and who has paid, and all that. But, of course, that salesforce instance is in no way linked to the MFA website, so someone has to manually pull up each list, copy paste, and fix any formatting errors to posts the lists and anytime someone's registration status changes.

Not a new entry, but just stating that a year ago today the 2018 enrollment lists were posted. Hopefully we'll see the 2019 enrollment lists sooner rather than later. I hope so but I think they may hold off until more locations are announced for the events that don’t currently have one secured. With the Northeast Ohio regional now being relocated to Central Ohio, a handful of bands will likely be changing their plans around. Could be that way with a couple of others and I’m sure they want to change the enrollment lists as little as possible once released. I don't know. They've released lists before with some venues still to be confirmed. As of right now though there are still 2 regional sites left to be confirmed, the Toledo Regional and the SoCal Regional. Of those two, it seems that the Toledo Regional is all but confirmed with Toledo's football team on the road at Colorado State that weekend.

Last year, Wake Forest University cancelled on BOA late in the game in favor of having a concert, so anything is possible with a college stadium in a mid-sized city. Also - on SoCal, hasn't its location been released like way late in the game before? Like LONG after lists were released? I find it unlikely they're waiting on that, too. They're probably just unprepared to release the lists. I for one am all in favor of some local college kid getting an internship which solely revolves around getting us these lists earlier.

Whatever.

Oh, they are fully prepared to release the list. They are waiting until deadlines to pass before announcing. While the PR team consists of 4 people working on these, they have also been working on Festival and Camp stuff, too. I just find it hilarious people are freaking out because lists aren't out. They will be released when they are released.

I remember the good old days when the lists were out in March. And the okay days when they were out in April. I don't care too much for these days

It used to be that the GN list would be first at the beginning of April, then the regionals would follow close behind. Now we get nothing until May.

A director friend of mine emailed Cam Stasa asking about info for a couple of the newly-located regionals, and from this portion of her response, it is now pretty much confirmed that the lists likely won’t be released for a while yet. I would expect June at this point.
“List of bands.... unfortunately, we don't publish lists for a bit... We want to make sure everyone is situated, and all director's have had the chance to confirm their schedules with administration and their booster groups.”

I'm just gonna throw this out there, that WGI, Mid States, have their dates on an ongoing basis. Guess what? Those things change as well. Even groups who sign up to do WGI. Things can change on a daily basis for WGI or the schools.
These lists used to be released in correlations with WGI Guard Championships. My question, what has changed? Hmmmmm, nothing?
Things that WGI & BOA have in common; 1-venues can change unexpectedly; 2-groups can always change their preferences from one regional to another or drop out all together;
Differences? 1- WGI - has a live updated list once registration opens 2- BOA doesn't (also has an archaic system of manual recording things apparently) 3- Mid-States even has a life registration system, they update accordingly.
As far as things "being situated", the only constant is change.

I think the problem is the new and recently announced venues. By only announcing shows last week, I don’t think they believe that there has been sufficient time for signups. They've had unconfirmed venues in the past and released the lists anyway--besides, the priority deadline was months ago and the vast majority sign up then, even for unconfirmed venues. This reflects more of a policy change to make sure things are more set.

The BOA aspect of the MFA website looks as if it has undergone a complete transformation. Perhaps that is the reason for the delay this year in posting the schedules? marching.musicforall.org/

I'll have to dig through the list later, but first glance tells me while top-heavy, this year doesn't seem quite as deep as the recent years were.

And, not a wide variation in terms of participating states for the big show, despite it being a year where many more bands than usual seem to be traveling to differing regions of the country to compete in out-of-the-norm BOA regionals...including Indy! It halfway seems like the Indy Super Regional is drawing from a wider variety of places than GN this year.

A quick glance (I'm sure I'll miss a few schools).
Finalists locks:
Avon (IN) Carmel (IN) Claudia Taylor Johnson (TX) Hebron (TX) Leander (TX) The Woodlands (TX) Vandegrift (TX) William Mason (OH)
Finalist Potentials:
Ayala (CA) Center Grove (IN) Centerville (OH) Fishers (IN) Harrison (GA) Homestead (IN) Lawrence Township (IN) Marian Catholic (IL) North Hardin (KY) Park Vista (FL) Plymouth-Canton (MI) Rockford (MI) Round Rock (TX) Union (OK)
Semis Locks:
Brownsburg (IN) James F. Byrnes (SC)
Semi-Finalist Potentials:
Bassett (VA) Beechwood (KY) Bellbrook (OH) Blue Valley West (KS) Bourbon County (KY) Columbus North (IN) Greendale (WI) Greenfield-Central (IN) Jackson County Comprehensive (GA) Jenison (MI) Lake Central (IN) Lakota West (OH) Miamisburg (OH) Milford (OH) West Carteret (NC)
The big names that appear to be sitting this one out: Franklin, Dobyns-Bennett, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Blue Springs, O'Fallon Township, Lincoln-Way Community, American Fork, Vista Murrieta, Jenks, Wando, Tarpon, and the usual smattering of TX bands. Many of those were expected not to attend; some I'm a bit surprised about.

We're going elsewhere." A bit disappointing for sure. I would love to see a year where a lot of Texas 6A bands were there along with Broken Arrow and the rest of the GN regular finalists. Will we ever have a chance to see all of the top bands in the country face each other at one competition? People would pay huge money to attend that one. It could be an invitation only thing. You make finals at any of the BOA regionals and super regionals, and you are automatically invited the following season to the BEST OF THE BEST.

Not a high school, but a school district. Likely a documenting error. This could be either Anderson H.S. or Turpin H.S., and I'm putting my money on it being Turpin.

Anderson and Turpin high schools combined into one marching band last year, similar to what Lawrence Township and the Lincoln Ways have done.
