Confirmed: Fort Mill H.S., SC ? To be fair, although the two posts were consecutive posts in the thread, they WERE made 34 days apart.

I started to type "5 weeks" but there are some on this forum who might have called me out for it being just barely less than five full weeks.

A lot of newcomers... Three newcomers to the BOA scene. Temple, Jefferson and Whitewater. Here's how I would slot the other 9: 1) Walton 2) Mill Creek 3) Easley 4) Boiling Springs 5) Alan C. Pope 6) Russell County 7) East Coweta 8) Pelham 9) Jackson County Comprehensive (Bottom four could go any which way, but Russell County gets the edge as they’re an absolutely phenomenal small school program that has done very well for themselves at past regionals.) From what I do know about the other four, and after watching some past performances, this is how I might see things roughly going down, with the bottom half a lot more uncertain than the top half: 1) Walton 2) Mill Creek 3) Easley 4) Boiling Springs 5) Alan C. Pope 6) Russell County 7) East Coweta 8) Pelham 9) Whitewater 10) Jackson County Comprehensive 11) Collins Hill 12) Temple 13) Jefferson (unfairly putting them here because I'm hard-pressed to find any recent performances of theirs) All I do know is... this is Walton's regional to lose. Though I could see Mill Creek or Easley potentially doing a sneak attack.

They recently had a change in Band Director who actually went to work at Jefferson. They actually performed during 2020 under this big change and what they were able to do was absolutely stunning! After watching this years program with props, new uniforms, and a newfound full musicality level at JUST BAND CAMP, I can definitely seeing them placing higher. Top 3, maybe not, Top 6 is more likely in my opinion.

And what the heck, because it’s pretty easy given it’s a small regional:
A 1st — Temple H.S., GA
AA 1st — Easley H.S., SC 2nd — Jackson County H.S., GA (if they’re as @marimbology described) 3rd — Russell County H.S., KY — 4th — Whitewater H.S., GA 5th — Pelham H.S., AL 6th — Jefferson H.S., GA (again, only because I have seen/know nothing about them)
AAA 1st — Boiling Springs H.S., SC 2nd — Alan C. Pope H.S., GA
AAAA 1st — Walton H.S., SC 2nd — Mill Creek H.S., GA 3rd — East Coweta H.S., GA — 4th — Collins Hill H.S., GA

1. Walton H.S., GA 2. Mill Creek H.S., GA 3. Boiling Springs H.S., SC 4. Alan C. Pope H.S., GA 5. Easley H.S., SC 6. East Coweta H.S., GA 7. Pelham H.S., AL 8. Russell County H.S., KY 9. Whitewater H.S., GA 10. Jackson County H.S., GA 11. Collins Hill H.S., GA 12. Jefferson H.S., GA 13. Temple H.S., GA
I think Walton and Mill Creek will be heads and shoulders above the rest, but after that it's a mess. Only five points in my ratings system separated Boiling Springs in 3rd and Jefferson in 12th, so there could be a huge amount of churn in placements.

"Confirmed" but not attending - Cabot, McEachern
Rumored but not attending - DeSoto Central, KellGrove, River Ridge, Saint James School

Could they be doing an exhibition between prelims and finals?

Is that list off by a music judge or is Susan Smith pulling double duty?

Is that list off by a music judge or is Susan Smith pulling double duty? My guess is there will be one music effect judge and the score will just be doubled as if there were two.

Is that list off by a music judge or is Susan Smith pulling double duty? Susan Smith will likely be serving as both a music judge and the chief judge. It's increasingly common at some smaller regionals for the chief judge to also be on the panel. (At McAllen this year, Richard Saucedo will be serving as both a music judge and chief judge.) This is how almost all DCI and WGI events operate and allow a not insignificant cost savings for MFA. By the time you add up transportation, food, and housing, a single judge can cost over $1000. You may also notice many of these judges are within driving distance to Powder Springs, so fewer flights and rental cars to worry about.

was there always a “TBA” slot at 11:45 or is that new ? Always. The preliminary schedule published for almost every event that isn't Grand Nationals or a Super Regional will include a TBA in front of the first performance listed. The exceptions will be those Texas Regionals that already have 30+ bands enrolled when the schedule becomes available.

I know a fair amount of people had said some of their predictions before, but does anyone else have any predictions/hot takes with us just a few days out? Yes! Although I haven't seen any of the shows (except for a short portion of Boiling Springs). This is a tricky show too bc it is so early and we have no clue each bands COVID situation over the past yr. Here is my guess: 1. Walton - Surely the strongest resume here, and if they are anything like usual they should be the winner. 2. Mill Creek - Could possibly win but for some reason I see Walton having more of their show together and it being cleaner than Mill Creek. 3. Boiling Springs - They sound good this year, but visual isn't their strong suit so I think 3rd is the best they could probably do. 4. Pope - They're a consistently good band 5. Easley - Really coming up in the ranks - but it is an early show so who knows 6 - 9. East Coweta, Pelham, Russell County, Jackson Comprehensive 10 - 13. Collins Hill, Whitewater, Temple, Jefferson Too many unknowns to try and place these other bands IMO. Hoping for excitement and some surprises this Saturday!
