Thirty Seven: The number of seconds of church-bell and thunderstorm recording before the opening tritone riff in the song "Black Sabbath" on the album Black Sabbath by the band Black Sabbath, which is considered to mark the birth of heavy metal music. What do I win? That is the musical reference I noted earlier, but thought it more likely to qualify as a reason for me than for Allohak. The first live concert I ever attended was part of the Black and Blue Tour where Black Sabbath was the opening act for Blue Öyster Cult. Nice use of Wikipedia, BTW.

Alright, you all had the workday to figure it out...
37
37 is an awesome number, one of my favorites for many reasons.
37 is the 12th prime The reverse of 37 is 73, which is the 21st prime So not only are 37 and its reverse both prime, but their prime ordinals are reverses 73 and 37's double (74) are consecutive integers 37 has a neat divisibility rule for 3-digit multiples. If you take a 3-digit multiple of 37, you can transfer the digits of the 3-digit number to find another multiple of 37 (example: 148, 481, and 814) The digits of 37 add up to 10, upon which our counting system is based
My birthday, October 27, is 10+27...which equals 37
Now for the really nerdy points...yes, even nerdier than the mathematical reasons listed above! Normal body temperature in Celsius is 37° 37 is the atomic number of Rubidium, which is an alkali metal and is really neat in its own right. A common salt form, Rubidium Chloride has many uses, including as a gasoline additive which improves octane rating and as a component of antidepressants.
Then some fun references to 37 in popular culture... In Monty Python and the Holy Grail, King Arthur meets a peasant who he things is an old woman. It turns out this is neither a woman, nor old. Dennis is 37. In Wedding Crashers, Rule #37 states that at a reception, a Crasher should have 1 hard drink or 2 beers, max. A drunk Crasher is a sloppy Crasher.
Oh, and remember how 37 is the 12th prime? Well, as a Seahawks fan, I'm pretty partial to that number, too. We are called 12s.

On another positive note, don't know if anyone has noticed on Facebook but they have started asking the events today to join. It's happening!!

I know this has been for the BOA countdown, but I'd like to throw out there that the first contest in Indiana start on Sept 11th. This contest season has really crept up on me fast!

Are we all going to break out in song when we are one day away? I think "One Day More"is actually quite fitting given what we've gone through to get here. I call dibs on Marius!

Adjudication handbook for 2021 has been released.
Interesting to note that finalist selection for Indianapolis and St. Louis has changed:
2019:
2021:
San Antonio remains the same for 2021.

Hmm. That is interesting but looking back, this wouldn't have affected any of the finals.

Adjudication handbook for 2021 has been released. More importantly, the fact that an updated handbook has been published is a VERY positive sign that the season is happening.

Another option is to change "sun" to "bands" in "Tomorrow." The bands'll come out tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be bands!

The above, in combination with what I quote below, tells me that the expectation is for 64 or fewer bands at Indianapolis and St. Louis and for a larger number at San Antonio. No surprises there.

Well yeah, when you're losing 20+ bands from Illinois due to the ineptitude of the B1G to set a cohesive schedule the first time and make sure the two super regionals and ISU and U of I all fall on the same day, that's going to happen. Only Plainfield North looks to be doing two (ISU/Indy) and Normal looks to be doing three (St. Louis/U of I/ISU), which I don't know how the hell that's going to happen, unless U of I allows them to perform with the smaller bands.
