Congrats to Nation Ford, this marks their 9th state championship since the school opened in 2007. Three in 3A and six in 4A. Since 2009 they have only been second twice (2012 4A, 2018 5A, in 2014 they performed in exhibition) - every other time they have been first. Definitely a rebuilding year for them but they should be stronger next year!

This was Medina's 15th class championship, and they were the only band to defend a 2019 title. Since NYSFBC switched to the 6-class format in 1999, Medina has won 11 of the 22 Class SS1 championships. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, Medina H.S. is an 8-12 school with a total enrollment of only 570 across five grades.

Liverpool won just their 3rd title in the ultra-competitive top division, and their first since 1988.

Also worth noting that this is the best placement for Kamiak HS (2nd place) at this event. They’ve had an incredibly stable staff for the last 12 or so years, and have been building to this point for a while. Congrats to all the bands! I miss the northwest sometimes.

I can't remember that last time a band won a South Carolina state class championship by 6 points. The first SC group ever to have all ones on the ordinals across the sheet. Well done CR band!

And you didn't even think Catawba Ridge would even make it to the Finals in Orlando. With Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge both winning State Championships in their respective State Class, it's sad that Fort Mill will not attend the 5A Championships. Given the accomplishments of Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge this season who faced the same set backs as Fort Mill, there is no reason for Fort Mill to have dropped off the map this season and get bested by Clover in 2 competitions in a row on Saturday, Oct 23rd. Fort Mill will be going to a US bands competition this weekend instead of competing for 4-5 place at SC 5A State competition. It will be interesting to see the future of the Fort Mill program

I can't remember that last time a band won a South Carolina state class championship by 6 points. The first SC group ever to have all ones on the ordinals across the sheet. Well done CR band!

And you didn't even think Catawba Ridge would even make it to the Finals in Orlando. With Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge both winning State Championships in their respective State Class, it's sad that Fort Mill will not attend the 5A Championships. Given the accomplishments of Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge this season who faced the same set backs as Fort Mill, there is no reason for Fort Mill to have dropped off the map this season and get bested by Clover in 2 competitions in a row on Saturday, Oct 23rd. Fort Mill will be going to a US bands competition this weekend instead of competing for 4-5 place at SC 5A State competition. It will be interesting to see the future of the Fort Mill program

I think you think we disagree lol, I can assure you I have little bias and Fort Mill seems to be in a heap of trouble from what I can see. However they opted for a very easy competitive season and didn’t spend a lot of money. The reason is, they’re not good this year - and their staff was very COVID adverse. Probably their worst show since 07/08. Maybe it can be fixed but only time will tell 🤷‍♂️ Clover was definitely the better band, FM is just rough all around.

I said those comments about CR because I don’t think anyone knew till bandbeat on Oct. 9 that CR was really in the competitive running to beat everyone.

Although I can’t imagine why if you have a choice you would want to bring your band to the 5A championships. Irmo high is an awful venue and FM doesn’t seem to be a very favored band there - so they opt for a better experience at another show. I’m sure you know Wando doesn’t go every year

I can't find any results on the Mel Shelton DIII MB Festival and the only place with the results are in a local newspaper that I can not bypass their paywall subscription. But I only know that Timberline HS (ID) won the whole thing and won their 3rd consecutive DIII festival. They also won with best music, best marching, best visual, best general effect, and best percussion.

You will often find comments comparing scores across different events and especially across different classes at state or circuit championships. There is no intent to mislead when posters do this.
