Hopefully not, but there's probably going to be SOME overlap: Illinois will be on 10/15, 10/22, or 10/29. The Illini have road games or open dates three weeks in a row. Illinois State has road games on 10/8, 10/22, and 10/29. ISU will be on one of those dates. BOA St. Louis will probably be on 10/15. BOA Indianapolis will definitely be on 10/22. At the very least, it's looking good that St. Louis and ISU will be on different weekends. I thought BOA St Louis was already a definite for the 14/15th? I don't have any insider information, so I'm sticking to the old "until BOA announces the schedule, it's tentative." BOA Indy is a definite date because that's the only weekend that doesn't have ISSMA State Open Class competitions.

Getting caught up with the conversation here… For Illinois bands, I hope we do not have the same situation as 2021 where ISU, U of I, St. Louis and Indianapolis Super Regionals are on the same weekend. Hopefully not, but there's probably going to be SOME overlap: Illinois will be on 10/15, 10/22, or 10/29. The Illini have road games or open dates three weeks in a row. At the very least, it's looking good that St. Louis and ISU will be on different weekends. ISU is already confirmed for 10/22 conflicting with BOA INDY. No official date from U of I yet. Not sure why ISU didn't go on the 29th to avoid the conflict. It would be awesome if Illinois could get their act together and have a single state championship on a weekend that does not conflict with major BOA super regional weekends

Ok so I am definitely looking forward to the announcement of the full fall schedule so I can make my travel plans, but I have also learned a few things this season. Here are some of those things: 1) I’m getting too old to drive 10 hours back and forth to other states every weekend for nearly two months straight. 🥺 2) I need to scale my in person schedule back a LITTLE bit so that I can enjoy the events more. 3) I need to go back to DFW for a BOA Regional. 4) I need to make it a priority to attend Bentonville football games next fall. 5) I still love band as much as I ever did, if not more. 6) I love living in NW Arkansas now because I’m so centrally located and I’m able to attend a more diverse amount of competitions. 7) See #1. I’m tired, y’all! 🤪 Dallas was amazing this year! But VERY hot LOL

Hopefully St. Louis and U of I aren't on the same weekend again. Lincoln-Way and O'Fallon Township haven't directly competed since 2019, and while I still definitely see Lincoln-Way in front of O'Fallon Township, I wanna see if that gap has grown or shrunk.

U of I isn’t typically a show that either band attends. LW has only attended St. Louis once. There would be a higher probability that they could see each other at ISU assuming St. Louis and ISU aren’t on the same weekend. Would love to see them match up regularly each year.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the B1G is going to be releasing a revised 2022 schedule after the season, so the dates U of I has open may not stay.

I'm presuming it'll be back to release the Tuesday or Wednesday of Midwest Clinic week. Those who want the schedule upon release can text BOA to 55433. The release is expected this week, based on the automated response. I'm sure they meant "coming weeks" based on the syntax, but either way...

So I was doing some looking, and the University of Northern Iowa has a home football game every weekend of October except for the 29th. My guess is if the Northen Iowa Regional is returning, it will be on September 24th.

I know the schedule is likely going to be released this week, but going off the dates given by Jeremiah for Super Regionals and from looking at their calendar, Rosemount H.S., MN will likely be attending the Indianapolis Super Regional in 2022.

I corrected Dan’s spelling of Kelly Reeves (BOA Austin). I’ll try and correct any future ones as well. I’m sure it’s MFA that has it wrong. yikes that sounded way snarkier than I intended it to!

Johnson City and North Carolina being on back-to-back weekends may hurt attendance at both events. Some bands that might consider doing both should they be several weeks apart will likely do only on or the other.

Marching with Northrop High School in the 80s, we'd invariably have the groaner in MBA videos and programs of "Northrup." This was with the tradition of some Band Parent leading a "gimme an N! gimme an O!" etc. that literally spelled the name of the school out every show. The buchering of Drum Majors' names was egregious sometimes too. We had someone get their name mispronunced in a different way at so many shows, the director started including a pronunciation guide. But sure enough we were at an MBA show and it got ... butchered in perhaps the most legendary way ever. She was a field DM so she does the most perfect about face snap that swirls her long skirt, pops her head to the box, and in FULL DM VOICE "It's prounounced _______!" Snaps back around. STARES DOWN THE ENTIRE ARC of the band as we were sort of somewhere between stunned and amused she did that and didn't want us to miss the now very imminent show start. And we start that show ON FIRE. Conquest was extra aggro for that performance and we loved giving it everything. So yeah, MBA/BOA spell check and pronunciation quality control definitely has a hisory.

In addition to that, it is highly likely that the Western Carolina University show will be the same day as one of these two shows.

The 5A schools can do that or the others: Orlando, Jacksonville, or NC regionals. I hope the NC show is back at wakeforest

Yeah, about that...U of I now looks like it'll be 10/22, as U of I's previously scheduled away game with Penn State 10/15 has now turned into a home game against Minnesota. Also, the Maryland regional will have to find a new home, as the previously scheduled away game (I don't remember who with) is now a home game against Purdue. (I'm just saying here...Rutgers weekend could move to 10/8 and Maryland weekend could move to 10/29, as both dates are open for the respective weekends...)
