After watching Kings, RP, and DeWitt, I like RP 2nd and DeWitt 3rd in AA.

My personal, just for fun rankings after the 2nd break!
1. Homestead 2. Rockford 3. Reeth-Puffer 4. Beavercreek 5. DeWitt 6. Kings 7. Victor 8. Lake Central 9. Dixie Heights 10. Crestwood
Kings is just a lot of fun. The most Harry Potter kind of show you can do without it being Harry Potter I think :-P

Reeths-Puffer was solid and in much better shape than I remember them from last year. More than half the band are freshmen, too. They will be on the upswing in the coming years!

Always impressed by bands that march with no drum major Oh wow, I didn't even notice! Was going to comment that I don't understand how judges are even able to judge a band with only 16 winds.

PCEP had all the rough edges but gosh darn it do I just enjoy shows that go out there to be FUN! And that's exactly what that show is. LOVE Back to the Future and when PCEP goes in on a theme, they go HARD when they don't have too. Think Franklin last year with I Love Lucy. Really looking forward to seeing the finished show at GN!

One of the drum corps at DCA this year had only 7 winds. And in DCI, one of the west coast Open Class corps had a similarly tiny number, as I recall. It takes guts, that's for sure.

PCEP still seems to have the same issues as last year with very out-of-tune blasting. I'm kind of a fan of these more budget-friendly uniforms that does stand out from the traditional uniform though.

Confirmed that Homestead electronics were not working which unfortunately seems par for the course for them. Hoping that gets fixed for tonight. They do have their props with them but decided to not use them right now due to the amount of wind. They may come out tonight when the wind is expected to die down. Which is slightly ironic given their show theme LOL. I like what they've added so far but do believe that they can/will have a better run tonight. Quick other thoughts. Rockford is good but certainly has some balance issues at times. Would like to see the guard a little more integrated throughout the show but enjoyed the story all the same. Reeths-Puffer is well on their way for an up-swing. That show is good AND fun! Lake Central is also on the upswing but perhaps at a slower pace. It felt as one of the more complete shows even though there is at least one other piece to do. The featured moments were well done but you could tell that it was progressively getting rougher as the show went on. Expected, but it'll get there. You've got to be kidding me.

Goshen was quite good and definitely stood out among the bands that have performed so far. Their woodwind section has a very good balance of sound and lovely tones coming from them!

Dublin Coffman also showing up better than expected. I was honestly a bit disappointed from last year's show, but this show definitely has signs of improvement in overall design, and they sounded decent too.

Jenison is about to give Homestead a run for their money. Performing last definitely helps, whether it’s supposed to or not.

Thought Jenison did pretty well and haven't heard Danzon No. 2 in a while. Their trumpet soloist was quite good. Good music book overall.
My rankings after Prelims: 1) Homestead 2) (Rockford) **didn't catch their performance but I think I had them 2nd in my predictions earlier 3) Goshen 4) Jenison 5) Dewitt 6) Beavercreek 7) PCEP 8) Dublin Coffman 9) Reeths-Puffer 10) Victor 11) Hamilton Southeastern 12) Archbishop Alter -------------------- Lake Central Kings Parkersburg South

Kings- oh my, where do I even begin with this one. First, I don't think i've heard Harry Potter on the field before, probably due to licensing issues? And the freaking, giant spider. I have no words lol. Very fun show, but I think they bit off more than they could chew... a lot of issues getting music to align the entire show. Mason played a snippet of Obliviate in 2011, only other time I’ve heard HP on the field. Definitely nice to hear

My final prelim rankings:
1. Homestead 2. Goshen 3. Jenison 4. Rockford 5. Reeth-Puffer 6. HSE 7. Beavercreek 8. DeWitt 9. Archbishop Alter 10. PCEP 11. Kings 12. Victor --------------------- 13. Lake Central 14. Dublin Coffman 15. Dixie Heights 16. Crestwood 17. Parkersburg South
I feel like the video I saw of Jenison last week was just a bit better. That said, I can absolutely see them winning this morning AND tonight. All the GE is there. Homestead will need to 100% bring their best feet forward tonight and FIX those electronic issues. Still crossing my fingers that the wind dies down enough for them to bring them out but the draw board is looking like they'll go either 1st or 2nd on in the last half tonight. Jenison in a VERY good performance slot; either performing last or second to last. This should go down to the wire!
