Now for you to make GN a regular thing for you too lol 😉 It seems like it has been lately! I went in ‘16 and ‘19 for Leander and in ‘21 just for fun, but it’s getting crazy expensive and I wasn’t impressed with how Lucas Oil handles getting people in for finals last time so it might be a year or two before I get back to Indy. 😬 I might know some people who can make the experience easier for you.

Growing pains coming outside COVID most likely so I get it. Though apparently DCI had a similar issue this past summer. You know I'll be keeping an ear out on how it rolls this year though. Hopefully it improves to how it was before at the very least. We'd love to have you back!

I’m definitely getting too old to stand in a mile long line for several hours! They had ONE gate open. It was insane. Of course I do the same at Austin and San Antonio. I keep saying I’m not going to keep doing it, but I find myself back in line every time, and racing to the stands when I get through the gate. 😅

I had friends telling me the line went all the way around Lucas Oil and they would not open any more doors or gates, but the saddest part was hearing about all of the Casper Troopers families in tears because they could not get in to see their child march. As most of y’all know, the Troopers haven’t made DCI finals in a very long time, and they went on first. It broke my heart knowing this was going on while I was watching the performance live on FloMarching and knowing those empty seats were supposed to be full. 😢 But yes, I do plan on coming back!

Morton is out. Their band calendar has them at the Lincolnway competition on the 15th.

This would allow them to compete at both shows. That would be a strange choice if so. With a best case scenario being a Friday performance, they would travel north two hours on Saturday for LW invitational, then four hours south to St. Louis for finals (if they make it), then two hours back home. Worst case would be all that travel starting Saturday morning for up to three performances with eight total hours of travel all in one day.

Wouldn't that actually be 12 total travel hours if all on Saturday? Two to St. Louis, four to LW, four to St. Louis, two to home. Definitely agree that it's not likely, just possible.

Yes, that's correct, so even less feasible. I know some bands have made the choice to attend only prelims for some regionals, but Morton doesn't strike me as that band.

It looks like Morton has indeed dropped St. Louis. No mention whatsoever (with a football game Friday night), and they added the Greater St. Louis Marching Band Festival on 10/31. That definitely wasn't there a few weeks ago.
It would be nice if BOA updated lists more often, but I digress.

And such a bummer, too! I have family in St. Louis and was excited to see how they fared this year. I guess I'll just have to see how AA shakes out in Grand Nats

I really hope the gate situation gets fixed this year before GN. The line was all the way around to the back of the stadium for finals last year. We literally ran to get to our seats before DB went on, and we completely missed Reagan. I was a wreck. One gate is complete insanity.

Morton dropping is certainly a blow. Travel expenses are certainly up this year so again this is a bit understandable. I do think that this probably opens a spot in finals though for someone else.

Lake Travis is pretty clearly the strongest out of the Texas bands in attendance in my opinion.

I think the only videos up of LT so far are from their half time games. I assume he's going off last year where they had a very safe but clean show, which is exactly the type of show that does well at SRs like Indy and StL.

Hoping MFA releases the schedule this week. No schedule for St. Louis last week as you hoped, but some time between last night and this morning many documents related to the Super Regional were posted online. No schedules yet but they shouldn't be long in coming now.

Bands that dropped since 07/19:Mahomet-Seymour H.S., IL Morton H.S., IL Both are now attending the Lincoln-Way Invitational, which has a pretty decent lineup attached to it with Lockport Township, Victor J. Andrew and Romeoville also confirmed. Probably will get a few other low key "randoms" that'll make this show even better.

Is there ever a judging discrepancy between panel 1 and panel 2? It seems like it could be hard for the 2 groups to be judged equally.
