Do they normally attend this BOA or no? Yea, but there were a couple of years where they hadn't attended like '14,'12,'04 out of the 12 times. I just wanted a real battle for first place for Brownsburg, Centerville, and maybe Lawrence who might come up with a killer show or Lakota East because we all know that Carmel will get the first place so it doesn't get me as pump for this Regional. Don't get me wrong I still like this Regional, but that is just how I feel. Like in 2010 Adair County could have won their first Regional if Carmel didn't show up. Adair County won Clarksville in 2007. Finals Results 79.75 – Adair County H.S., KY 78.95 – Castle H.S., IN 77.75 – Daviess County H.S., KY 76.55 – Forsyth Central H.S., GA 75.75 – Oakville Senior H.S., MO 74.25 – McGavock H.S., TN 73.40 – Barren County H.S., KY 72.95 – Columbus North H.S., IN 72.10 – George Rogers Clark H.S., KY 71.35 – Cleveland H.S., TN Outstanding Music Performance – Castle H.S., IN Outstanding Visual Performance – Adair County H.S., KY Outstanding General Effect – Adair County H.S., KY

I suspect Brownsburg feels the same, although the two programs (Carmel and Brownsburg) are very friendly competitors and support each other.

Adair County won Clarksville in 2007. OH. Well their 2nd Regional. Kentucky has such an amazing small bands program. Don't know how they do it. I have thought long on this mystery. I suspect it has something to do with small counties [relative to most states] and a well-organized state circuit [KMEA].

The Adair County of today is not the same as 2007. That was the next to last year Tim Allen was director there. Things have changed since then. At State Championships this past year Adair County came in 4th in their class. Don't get me wrong they are still very good but just not Tim Allen good.

They are definitely in the midst of a rebuild, but that community supports their program to the ends of the earth. They’ll be back.

To be honest I don't see them making final or come close to finals. Hope I'm wrong. Also, they got 3rd place in 2021 KMEA. So they stayed top 3 in their class since the 1980s.

Estill arguably should have been in semis for class rep last year (I had them in) but it was a really good year for Class A.

Working on my way-too-early predictions for this show has been a real challenge. This is a STACKED show. So many bands fighting for finals.
Also, I am not entirely sure if Bourbon will be A or AA this year, but their 9th and 10th grade numbers from 2020-2021 were in the 220s each. If that trend continued last year and continues into this coming year, they will be AA.

Way-too-early prediction time. I am nobody and my opinions don’t matter. 1. Carmel H.S., IN 2. Brownsburg H.S., IN 3. Centerville H.S., OH 4. Lawrence Township, IN 5. Lakota East H.S., OH 6. Madison Central H.S., KY 7. Bourbon County H.S., KY 8. North Hardin H.S., KY 9. Decatur Central H.S., IN 10. Columbus Schools, IN 11. Henry Clay H.S., KY 12. Paul Laurence Dunbar H.S., KY ————— 13. Kettering Fairmont H.S., OH 14. George Rogers Clark H.S., KY 15. Central Hardin H.S., KY 16. Floyd Central H.S., IN 17. Walled Lake Schools, MI A — Beechwood H.S., KY AA — Bourbon County H.S., KY AAA — Madison Central H.S., KY AAAA — Carmel H.S., IN This is a very stacked midseason regional. SO MANY bands fighting for a second performance. Admittedly, I don't know much about the Westfield, Pike, or Chesterton programs so perhaps they will surprise. It's been a while since Adair County has been in the BOA scene to my knowledge, so it should be an interesting battle between them and Beechwood for the Class A title, assuming Bourbon County is not in that class this year (all signs seem to be pointing towards AA though).

Adair--for now--won't catch Beechwood. As discussed further up the thread, they are a community that really supports their program and I do expect them to bounce back eventually, but just based on last season it would seem like too much of a jump in a single year. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, though. Both program are kind of in a rebuild mold, but Beech is further along the trajectory.

I would love to see a tight competition for AA, but I’d have to hand this one to North Hardin before I would give it to Bourbon. With that being said, I’m always rooting for an underdog! Also, I’m glad to see Madison Central back in BOA for the first time since 2016 I believe… if only Lafayette had signed up here we’d finally get to see the Big Three up against one another in BOA.

Quick question for those in the loop: is Box5 still streaming comps this year? I won’t be able to attend any, so I’m hoping to watch some from work/home but didn’t know for sure where to watch 🫤

I believe BOX5 extended their contract for at least the next couple of years. We are also working on making sure every BOA show this year is covered with a live blog as well. At this point, this is one I'll be attending live to blog! My way too early predictions will also be coming sometime soon too.

Yes Chesterton last competed in BOA back in 2004. They had sporadic appearances in BOA in the 1990s. I had the pleasure of performing in the Toledo regional finals with them my senior year in 1991. We both did Henry V for our show. Would love to see them become BOA regulars again.

The former is the better-known music, but the latter would have been the up-to-date choice in 1991.

That was the music of all the Henry V shows in the early 1990s, including 1990 Marian Catholic.

Columbus, IN - Still a combined band despite what MFA has there as far as I'm aware and they are still from Indiana...not KY lol
Decatur Central, IN - Also from Indiana. Don't shortchange us haha

Don't shortchange us haha Good catch. Typing quickly and just got on a Kentucky roll there. Corrections have been made. Noticed the Columbus vs. Columbus North but left it as published by MFA. As I recall, when MPLT was first formed things still got listed as Lawrence Central for a couple years while the folks submitting applications got accustomed to the different requirements (ISSMA at the time required combined bands to register as one school among the combination - and still may).

Yeah, ISSMA hasn't updated their rule set so they alternate between Central and North each year when they register for the events. And ISSMA then turns a blind eye that they are marching kids from another school... Albeit from the same district.

I like everything about Brownsburg, but the drill is pretty safe. Music has plenty of power however finesse is not quite there in terms of tone. It is early though.
Glad it is not an exact copy of Mason two years ago
