Broken Arrow entered the field to begin set up 3 minutes late and used all of their alloted time. Things caught up a couple bands later. So they were late to their time after a break?

North Hardin was of course quite solid - they for sure aren't where they were pre-Covid, but still an excellent group. I wonder if it's "too little, too late" meaning that the panel is literally so stocked up with numbers all across the board and NH performed so late in the day and didn't quiiiite make enough of a statement that there just isn't room for higher numbers in individual captions for them. At this point in the line up, you've got to establish your case against numbers that have already been laid, and you've got to be that much better to stand out in the minds of the judges among the 40+ bands they've already seen. I don't think NH made a strong enough case to really stand out against that sea. BUT! Still an excellent group, terrific musicality, and I could very well be judging them too harshly via their incredible past selves.

Was anyone else at grand nationals in 2006? I remember sitting as a spectator and seeing how incredible Beechwood was. They were tiny too. They have grown exponentially since then. I absolutely love this show. They are performing at a high level. Great job!

Little angry Beechwood didn't make finals in Louisville. But they are killing this show. They sound so good!

Beechwood was insanely good too. Murray, BoCo, Beechwood...take your pick. But, no matter what, I don't think I've ever seen a GN that had 3 class A groups that could make Semis on score, and who were all so powerful. Those three units are just insane. Jaw-droppingly good small school bands.

So Kentucky is going 1,2,3 in A?

The judges should be arrested for robbery after what they did to Beechwood in Louisville, they're doing so much for a Class A band and it's CLEAN. Not only that, but it's been clean since September.

Does seem a little strange... and it was a 30 minute break as well. I guess it's better for this type of thing to happen during Prelims rather than tomorrow.

Some shows feel like they were created to justify the band's existence to school administrators. Look: our show also teaches the kids some important literature!

I've noticed that the bands' biographies as read by the announcers after the performances must have been submitted some time ago, as some of them are out of date. (Chesapeake, for instance, had qualified 14 times in a row for OMEA state finals--until this year.)

I loved loved LOVED Alter and don't think anyone can touch this grouping of 4 Class A bands with a ten foot pole, even though there were some terrific A groups throughout Prelims. But I do think Alter is a bit of distance from the 3 KY groups.

So Kentucky is going 1,2,3 in A? It's possible but don't count out Alter.

Everybody's talking about these four A bands as the advancers (and I don't disagree, actually), so now I'm mentally preparing myself for Finneytown to surprise us all.

I really like Hendrickson’s show. They can play. Although, Lots of visual dirt and underwhelming guard work. Hopefully that trumpet player that is horrendously out of the bubble gets fixed before semis! 10th-14th range for me. Seems to be losing some steam (no pun intended) by the end. This show is so darn fun though. I actually love it.

How was their high brass live? On the livestream it sounded super out of control but I don't trust the stream too much

Ok, I'm a believer. They are absoLUTELY in the conversation for Finals. Brownsburg, Mustang, etc. might have more depth in their show designs, but Hendrickson is just clean clean cleeeeean!!!! Love the energy, love the attitude, love the execution levels. I'm on board!
