Super exciting to watch Mason's full show for the first time. Honestly a bit hard to see the performers on top of the bright tarp from the livestream, which i found to be distracting. A lot of beautiful visual moments and effects. Their woodwinds are wonderful as always. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the music book; definitely need several more viewings. Overall I think they are performing much tighter and refined than last year.

A much livelier show from Mason than some they've done lately. Still curious to know what their musical selection(s) is/are.

I’m in LOVE with this WM show this year. Way better in every aspect compared to last season. Some really beautiful moments and their woodwinds are fantastic! I’m hoping they are going to upset a group or two Saturday night!

Mason's sound is the epitome of crisp, clear, resonate, and controlled. I loved seeing them back to back with Castle's power - the best of both worlds!! As mentioned by others, my god those woodwinds are just impeccable. The consistency in marching technique from member to member in those white pants is on full display and boy is it SCARY good. It's probably not the most interesting of all Mason shows for me, but I'm really intrigued to give it another two reads, and that curiosity that it's drawn out of me is satisfying enough in itself. Definitely gives me L.D. Bell '09 "Prayer for Light" vibes, which I'm not complaining about. Great to see mason back on top and back to pre-2017 status as one of the kings of musicality!!

I'm watching while I work on some homework. I can't get over this Mason show!! My absolute favorite style of design is one that is elegant and classy. I adore how the tarps are so integral yet still subtle. The entire show is very balanced and cohesive, and conveys emotion well enough that I feel like I could reach out and grab the feeling it instills. I'm still a bit confused on how Miamisburg lost the aux caption at MSBA...but what Mason's guard may lack in technical skill (compared to Miamisburg, at least) is more than made up for in design and performance integrity. It's really stunning to watch! I'm excited to see it two more times (and those will both be in person!)

I'm glad I'm not the only one comparing it to 2000s Bell! Allohak and I had talked at Indy about the yellow guard uniforms being reminiscent of 2007. It seems like a lot of groups this year are seeking to emulate late 2000s Bell and early 2010s BA (and I'm totally on board with it).

Honestly, this is giving me the sequel vibes I need for Edge of Eternity, as odd as that sounds. But Bell 2009 is the first show I thought of the first time I saw Mason this year

I’m hoping they are going to upset a group or two Saturday night! I think this show design feels so much more accessible compared to last year. I liked last year...but a show themed after a movie that a lot of my generation and younger are unfamiliar with cut off a good amount of audience. It seems that the complaints about last year's uniforms being nearly invisible against the field have been heard too, because the yellow and white this year pop beautifully. I wonder how it would have been received if the new movie had come out a few months earlier 😆

I don't understand the purpose of Clinton-Massie's show. I think I get the story, such as it is, just not what you'd choose to tell it. And they're not the only band I saw do "Off the Rails" this year.

To answer your question about guard at MSBA, that show was performed in 20-30 mph winds, which obviously affected what Miamisburg did guard wise more than Mason.

Way to go Homestead! Some great visual and music moments added between last week and this week. Some obvious student holes in the drill which unfortunately doesn’t help an already struggling visual program BUT overall a good run. Plus the new uniforms look FANTASTIC! Hoping for another run on Saturday 🤞🏽 If anyone has any photos or know where there might be posted photos, I'd love to see what the new uniforms look like.

Hello double tonguing Gavorkna Fanfare! Took me half the season to realize that AF was playing a piece I had done in high school band. I knew I'd heard it somewhere...

Impressive, precise double tonguing from American Fork and a powerful, beautiful opening hit! Some good integration of the drill with guard to create visual effects that match the music book. A bit of a quirky, fun show overall, but executed very well. I will be shocked if we don't see them again in Finals... would this be their first appearance in Finals??

So many cute decisions made with American Fork! The drum break was genius and the tarps are only helping them. I didn't like the arrangement of What a Wonderful World...it felt too stylized for my tastes, though I suppose it does replicate the source pretty well. But I'll get over it. Very cute and memorable!

American Fork, I am HERE for that!! I know a lot of people enjoyed their 2018 show, but I thought it was so generic and safe, it would've made any recent Lake Travis show seem exciting. I just thought they played it wayyyyy too safe for such a talented group that year. They really turned that around this season - they showed up to Grand Nats with big, bold, unique, and eccentric. Full of personality this year, and you can really feel it - 2018's performances in Indy felt safe and lackluster (to me) even from the kids - just not much to get excited about. You can tell the group this year really has dug into the show and has grown it beyond just a mere design on paper - the band has truly brought this fabulous production to life. And that has propelled the band forward as well! We don't ever get to hear them indoors, but this sounds and looks well beyond anything we've seen from American Fork recently - I wonder if that's because they really seem invested in the vehicle they're driving over the finish line.
Color me impressed!! Wonderful showing from out west. Way stronger than I ever could have imagined seeing them at GN. I'd love to see them be rewarded with three performances this weekend.
