Morton REALLY held their own after so many good groups. I think their run today was even more locked in than Thursday. Interested to see if Kiski can muscle in around them for an AA placement. I mentioned it in Prelims, but Morton's visual control fades off at the end of their show, and I wish their guard was a bit stronger and matched the overall design in terms of depth. But all the pieces are almost there for Morton. They had a BIG show this year...huge design that was very grand and quite an undertaking. They really challenged themselves this season and it paid off. I have absolutely zero qualms with them landing in the top 22; they showed they belonged. I'm excited to see where the future takes this group. Wasn't it just like 4-5 years ago that they went through a big director change (maybe even lost all of them?) and everyone was worried they were done for? They're stronger than ever now! They only lost their director. The majority of the core staff is still there and has been since the mid 2000s. For a school of 900 kids its incredible the size of band and quality of performance they put out.

Kudos to the special needs student in the Morton front ensemble. Very enthusiastic and kept time perfectly even when his eyes wandered away from the drum major. I think band and guard get overlooked at times for their welcoming approach to serving students.

I am SO proud of Fishers and have loved what they have been doing all season! The amount of growth this band has had the last few years is mind boggling. Just simply amazing! From the beginning of the season, it was clear that this show was created to be a BOA Grand Nationals finalist, and it really shines in the LOS. We have to see this show again tonight. Congratulations Fishers on an absolutely fantastic year! #IndianaProud!

Similar to M&G Johnson, Fishers felt a bit looser & more nervous today, but I still would wager they will be in Finals - their base skill sets across every caption are just too good. And it's a tight, intricately designed show!!

A bit of mic feedback popping from Fishers throughout their show

It is nuts to me that this was the same band where the cymbals were doubling as the color guard 10 years ago. This has been 14 years in the making and I believe we're seeing the trees finally bear the fruit. What a gorgeous, peppy ballad, Fishers! Here's to many Finals ahead!

I love Fishers' show, but I can't even explain why. I can't quite put into words what it is about their show that seems so fresh, but I feel like it has to do with the pacing. It doesn't feel very conventional. I think it has something to do with the tempo variation and mood during the ballad (if you can call it that?). That middle tune also seems to extend for quite a while, whereas their closer seems fairly short. They have dynamic contrast, but seem to ride the highs for extended periods of time. It's such an enigma of a show and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to see that one more time this weekend.
Also, terrific to see how this guard keeps progressing! Another fairly unconventional show this past winter from their guard, definitely stood out from the rest. Can't wait to see what's to come from this entire program.

Sitting on the front row and Fishers has had the most consistent sound so far today. I’ve forgone the earbuds in favor of a little hearing loss…I don’t need it anyways

Fishers feels like the first group in a while today that has had an average performance, everyone else has struggled

Uh, it's incorrect to say that Centerville is performing "original music by Andrew Markworth including ..." a bunch of songs by other people.

Wonder how many Floridians are seeing snow for the first time. Snow proved to be good luck for Tarpon in 2014.

Welcome to Finals, Fishers! They just walked right through the door DB left open Alright maybe we can cool it with the criticism? Nothing wrong with sharing your thoughts, but we know lots of hard working kids read these forums.

Honestly I’m very distracted in Centerville’s design. Just seems weird. Not crazy about their show. They barely move and play too.

A fun homage to their hometown from Centerville. Good to see them really in the thick of things and enjoying themselves as always

Yup (kind of) - casualties of/around the same time of the change of the head director included the assistant director and guard instructor too. The other core staff more or less stayed the same. A handful of alums have come back to help too! As a Morton alum from around that transition, it's exciting to see how we've improved between my time in the group and now, amidst the director change (+ adversity surrounding it) and covid too. Kudos (and thank you) to alums + current members, alum + current parents, and the town (village officially ) for the constant support when I was in and even now, a few years after I was in, for keeping things going at a high level despite the craziness of everything!

As a band parent who has met a lot of other band parents from other towns, the inclusivity and the extra work put in outside because of the inclusivity is something we are proud of and is often commented on.

I love this William Mason show so darn much. These are the type of Cartwright shows I love the most. No major props. Just beautiful uniforms, silks, costumes, music and visual design. Their ballad is so beautiful, one of my favorites of the season. I’m still hoping they can pull an upset this weekend and fall in the top 3. They have the show to do it this year. Way to go Willam Mason!
