We're behind schedule again after Broken Arrow. The announcement for Johnson started 2 minutes and 40 seconds later than it should have. I wonder what keeps happening with BA to cause that? I just think it’s BA taking up their full alloted time which is rare and then facility staff reacting a bit late.

BA goes all the way to 11 minutes, which pushes the schedule back (when you add two minutes after to clear the field).

Bands actually get 17 minutes from the time they step onto the field to the time they have to be off. BA just happens to be one of the only ones that utilizes every last second.

JACKPOT!!! I’ve placed my bets, and I have Moe & Johnson in Finals! I love this show. Not only is it fun but they are executing it at an amazing level while also bringing us that beloved Texas sound! Plus they have some of my favorite music samples of the weekend. Way to go Moe & Gene! WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!!!
I want to take a stack of the poker chips home with me please. Thanks!

Ok I was either too floored on my first viewing of M&G Johnson yesterday to notice any blips, or they had a looser run today. It didn't feel nearly as tight, but that could just be me. Either way, I can't imagine they won't find themselves performing again tonight.

Johnson has a super fun show and I want to love it, but I just like it. Something just isn't clicking for me personally. This is one example of when I think a "less is more" approach might have been more effective. The singing vocal samples are fine, but the dealer's narration seems a bit unnecessary and cheapens the production a little for me. I feel like there's enough happening both musically and visually for the show to stand on its own without the narration.

LOVED Moe & Gene Johnson! So fun, and well executed! Loved hearing some classical music motifs mixed into fun, entertaining pieces. It might be a little cheesy as it goes on with the theme but well done!! Certainly in finals for me.

If I was a gambler, I'd go all in on M&G Johnson making finals. That was spectacular!

Also, this crowd is FULL. It’s my first time back in person in 4 years, is it usually like this for semis?

Love MGJ's show and the kids are clearly having so much fun with it. But they felt nervy. They'll definitely be getting another run later with less pressure and I'm very glad for that!

Also, this crowd is FULL. It’s my first time back in person in 4 years, is it usually like this for semis? When you have a stretch of bands like you do from the 9:45-12:45 block, the crowd is normally big. Many bands who don’t make semis will carve out a few hours to come watch bands before heading home. Lots of kiddos in the stands right now, great to see!

A bit of "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the start of Morton's "What's the Matter?" show: "Nothing really matters to me?"

In reference to the M&GJHS show. You could totally have quality prop bets and stuff. Finishing order. Range order. Scoring windows. Individual box1-5 score chances. Captions. I would definitely engage in that.

That was very nice from Morton! Tough following 3 finalist-level groups but they showed they belong in these middle 22

I fall in love with Broken Arrows show more and more with each viewing. From a personal preference I enjoy this years show more than their eagle winning show last year. I just prefer a darker show! They are handling their props much better than they were in St. Louis. Overall a great run. I know I’m team Indiana, but following directly after Avon I feel like Broken Arrow has the upper hand over them… I’m also “TeamIndiana” but agree with you. BA’s theme comes together more with what they added. Or course left up to each person’s interpretation. 😉 BA’s tosses are clearly higher than last year. Are they heading towards WGI in the future? Just wondering the move to rifles and continued level of difficulty. I love it!

Morton certainly making their presence known this weekend. That was fantastic. AA seems so tight this year.

Kudos to the special needs student in the Morton front ensemble. Very enthusiastic and kept time perfectly even when his eyes wandered away from the drum major.

Morton may have one of the hardest slots today, following 3 likely finalists, 2 contenders for the Eagle. A fun show and I’m really glad to see them in the top 22. Great job Morton on a successful 2022 season!

Morton REALLY held their own after so many good groups. I think their run today was even more locked in than Thursday. Interested to see if Kiski can muscle in around them for an AA placement.
I mentioned it in Prelims, but Morton's visual control fades off at the end of their show, and I wish their guard was a bit stronger and matched the overall design in terms of depth. But all the pieces are almost there for Morton. They had a BIG show this year...huge design that was very grand and quite an undertaking. They really challenged themselves this season and it paid off. I have absolutely zero qualms with them landing in the top 22; they showed they belonged. I'm excited to see where the future takes this group. Wasn't it just like 4-5 years ago that they went through a big director change (maybe even lost all of them?) and everyone was worried they were done for? They're stronger than ever now!
