Downingtown West presenting yet another wonderful show this year. It appears the reason they're behind last year can be boiled down to individual elements, which is not a huge surprise as it's not only a program early in their rise, but there has also been a lot of terrible weather in the northeast this season. It's clear this team knows what they're doing and I'm hoping they continue building towards long-term success.
West Orange was such a great surprise. They were always a key player in the early-mid 2000s, then took a bit of a step back for a couple of years. Wonderful to see them performing so strongly again. They'll be contending for a podium spot here, in my opinion.

Westfield manifested their inner Catawba Ridge to make it to the finish line
Amazing job Westfield!

Dartmouth performing with zero props, which is strange because they're actually VERY sturdy and fully capable of fielding them even with this wind. Makes me think the delayed start had to do with their prop truck breaking down. I wonder how they will do as they actually move around and perform on a lot of their props during the show.
Edit: They've also taken a long time setting up their electronics all season, so it's a bit surprising it's happening again today.

Elizabeth did amazing. Guard and percussion killed it! Lots of individuals overplaying which isn't a surprise there is always that one trumpet back in my day. Visually they were so good I can see why they beat Unionville and Down West at that one competition. Show concept was great nothing like I've seen before, but winds music was their weakest can't tell if it's the absence of the two directors which one of them was Wayne Dillon or covid putting them behind.

Nice that a lot of the top contenders are in 2A so we can get an early gist of what will happen in finals lol

Beyond upset I couldn't make it down to the regional this weekend, but at least I'm getting to watch at home while getting my work done. I'm so grateful that these bands are getting the BOA experience again this year, and if this prelims round is any indication, the bands are both interested AND improving knowing this competition is circled on their calendars. I'm hopeful that attendance continues increasing and making more of these worthwhile. Normally I'd be watching STL finals tonight, but I'm looking forward to watching some of these Piscataway bands one more time!

I enjoyed Dartmouth. They really do the best they can with such a small winds section. I think ensemble visual was a bit weaker than last year, still time to clean before GN

I enjoyed Dartmouth. They really do the best they can with such a small winds section. I think ensemble visual was a bit weaker than last year, still time to clean before GN I agree with you. In general, I think last year's production was ahead of where this one is (and frankly, I think it was a better offering overall). They've lost a lot of performance and rehearsal time this year with the weather, and they also didn't have the numbers pan out like they were hoping. They announced at the spring concert last season that they were hoping for a much bigger band with this year's trip in mind, and specifically mentioned that to last year's 7th graders with the hope of a big 8th grade class joining the band. Unfortunately, they are the exact same number as last year with only 90 total members after graduating only 12 seniors. The numbers also worked out so they gained more in percussion, with a membership decrease in winds down to 37 (but only 36 marching due to injury). By the numbers, there are only four bands smaller than them at this regional, and they're tied for smallest amount of winds. I'm still so proud of them and I think this will be a great experience for them either way. And you're right, plenty of time for cleaning. They've mentioned it's a once in a lifetime sort of trip, though, so I'm not sure we'll see them again at GN (at least for quite a while).

Thrilled about MA going 3/3, but ... BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN! YES! Amazing to see them back in finals.
I'm heartbroken for Elizabeth, though. I thought they really deserved to make it in.

Just wow! I just love Bridgewater-Raritan they definitely deserve that final spot. They have been putting in the work after their decline after 2016 and Covid by winning NJMBDA States and constantly staying top 3 and look at them with their membership numbers up going back to their former glory. I can't wait for States tomorrow they are going against Edison in Class AAA.

What a show, Unionville! That was such an improvement over this morning, and one step further, an incredible step up from last year. It's no wonder they've been finding more success this year in USBands. Such a creative and unique show!

Congratulations to Dartmouth on Regional Win #2 and a resounding one at that! No doubt in my mind we'll be seeing them in semifinals at Grand Nationals. Fingers crossed! Lots of alums have wanted this so badly for the program for years now. Quick congrats to: KPR - What an amazing welcome back to BOA. To come back after all those years and show the band world you've still got it is incredible to see. Hopefully this is only a sign of things to come as they continue working their way back to their 90s/early 2000s strength. Wakefield - They continue to represent New England so well. Thrilled they made finals for a second year in a row and I'm excited to see how far they can go. Unionville - To miss finals last year and come back this year and do THAT? Wow, was that a fantastic show. That design team deserves major kudos, but even more than that, those kids deserve so much praise. They delivered that show in such convincing fashion and are LOUDLY making their presence known in the Northeast. North Lincoln - First time in finals and it couldn't be more deserved! I can't wait to see what's in this band's future.
