Well this is certainly a surprise Sort of, they went in 2019 too the year Catawba Ridge opened for the split. I thought it was just a one off to skip state and end the season doing something fun and I think that’s true again. Was also true for Lakota West… ect.

Way-too-early predictions
1. AF 2. Green Canyon 3. Fort Mill 4. Cedar Valley 5. Davis 6. Westlake 7. Farmington 8. Skyridge 9. West Salem 10. Etiwanda 11. Buchanan 12. Lone Peak
So many of the Utah bands have taken a big step up that it's impossible to guess the 2-8ish range, but I'm gonna try anyways. I am a big Green Canyon fan and hope this is their year to medal. Fort Mill is always strong musically and visually, but seem to be held back by show design. I think they'll place within a couple of spots of where they did in 2019. West Salem is a big wildcard for me, small band with a big sound (like some other groups here.) They could jump into the top 6. Honestly though, I have zero idea how this one will turn out besides who will win.

Way too early to make predictions for me. Utah bands vary season per season (think Farmington 2021 v. Farmington 2022) plus the extra out of state bands makes this a complete wild card for me. Utah UMEA results also aren’t a great predictor, as shown by Cedar Valley who consistently trailed behind Green Canyon last year taking 4th.

Agreed, just got bored lol And there are probably a few big names that haven’t released their calendars yet and are going here. 30 bands at this regional seems to be a routine thing now.

In my honest opinion, I love seeing American Fork win this regional but I’d love for them to skip a year or two and let the rest battle it out. There’s so many awesome groups, and it kinda sucks to always see them down a ways when they deserve every ounce of recognition that other recognizable names receive. Again, love me some AF, but perhaps I’d like to see some other Utah Bands get a shot in the spotlight at this regional.

American Fork is already in St. George for the state championships on Friday evening so it makes sense to participate here without extra travel planning.

Anyone have an idea or want to guess at the 13-18th place range? I’m kinda curious to see what you guys are thinking.

I don’t have any predictions of my own, but this is definitely a more competitive show than it was last year. The Utah regional is also notoriously unpredictable with a lot of bands jumping up and down several places from year to year.

Both these things can be true: -AF got a bit jobbed and should have been in GN finals last year...still scratching my head a bit at that one...if they keep pushing they'll find themselves on the right side of the bubble and back in one of these years -Many programs from the Rockies and west doing a lot of great things, someone could catch AF and win this regional over them. Some of the California groups have done well here in the not too far past.

Sorry if I offended anyone Hey don't count yourself out of the mix, can't say I have much familiarity with your group, but looks like you were right in the AAA fight last year. This is a solid competition and plenty of good groups will end up with a single run. Just make your prelims show as good as it can be and who knows what can happen.

If I were AF that would have been grounds to pull a Homestead/ James Logan/ Duncanville and just never return to BOA. Obviously that is hyperbole and they shouldn’t do that (nor are they) but they had everything on their side it seemed. I hope they clean everyone’s clocks at the shows they attend this year.

I would have had AF and MGJ both in with REH and SLC both out, Brownsburg 12th, and JFB 13th/just out. Somehow, the highly qualified judges always get it "wrong."

The #HennyTrain STILL has doubters, that's crazy...
(for legal reasons this is a joke)
But yes, I agree that AF should have made finals over a good few of the groups who did make it in.
