Thanks for the update!
Go Santa Fe! And that Edmond sweep of AAAA is quite something!
S/O to Coweta for that placement! That 5A race is going to be close this year
Really interested to see where Stillwater lands tonight

OBA 6A Predictions Post Mustang Contest Contest:
With the only major contest for 6A being the Mustang Contest, there wasn't too much surprise in the scores from last night, but here are my new thoughts. (Also there will be some change in my thoughts for bands who didn't compete this weekend because I think my predictions were pretty out there last week.
Also I added score ranges for each group, just note because a group already got a score at a smaller contest doesn't mean that translates 100% to the OBA judging panel, which these scores are based off the scores in past years. (Shows ranking comparison to my previous week rankings)*
1. Broken Arrow (Same): 90-95 Hard to even say anything about them just because I haven't seen a good video of where they're at now, but BA is BA, and when they get beat by another school at OBA i'll change my mind on them. 2. Jenks (Same):89-93 Jenks is doing really well and I hope to see them continue to close the gap to BA 3. Mustang (Same):88-92 Mustang's on a good route with their show and seeing it in person last night gave me some hope. We won't see them in a contest setting until OBA this year so they have lots of time to continue cleaning which they've done well in years past. Can't see them over Jenks though rn. Nice Frankenstein mask added last night lol 4. Bixby (Up 3):87-91 I think I overexaggerated them last week after getting beat by ESF but I felt for at least last week I couldn't have them over a group that just beat them, however though I think give them time and they are going to come back strong again. 5. Yukon (Down 1):86-90 Yukon is continuing to improve their show dramatically and it's been interesting to watch, haven't seen them since Yukon Invitational but I think their really good music and prop usage are going to boost them so much in scoring. Their show design is just phenomenal. 6. Union (Down 1):86-90 Excited to see where Union goes to with their production, I think it will be close with them and Yukon in terms of scoring no doubt, so 5th or 6th could go either way right now. 7. Edmond Sante Fe (Down 1):85-88 ESF Continues to do really well and although it may be a personal thing, I'm not really the biggest fan of the show from a design standpoint, I just think that group could do something more challenging and with a higher production value, though wait for them to go to a BOA event and that could change. 8. Owasso (Same):85-88 This could be the last week I have Owasso this low, just haven't seen them yet or heard really good things about them from others so I'm just gonna see what they do at Renegade Review. 9. Southmoore (Same):83-85 Love Southmoore, but the competition is insane 10. Deer Creek (Up 2):83-85 Congrats to them for beating Edmond North compared to last week! I just hope to see if they can continue to grow even more! 11. Choctaw (Down 1):80-83 Doing good things visually, and i'm all for it! 12. Edmond North (Down 1):80-82 Edmond North is doing really good things, they are feeling the competitiveness of this top 12 though for sure.

As we get closer to OBA, I'm going to start sharing my thoughts about what a more realistic OBA finals line up will look like. As well as their highest possible scores!
1) Broken Arrow (1-2) 96 It's Broken Arrow guys... they're still the same Broken Arrow we know and love, but with a slightly scaled back program. 2) Jenks (1-2) 95 Really nice show this year! Definitely still playing up here in the highest ranks! I think they could have a shot against BA this year, who knows! 3) Mustang (2-4) 93 They're winning me back! After last nights performance I feel a lot better about them! I was a little worried because they were so rushed to put the show on before midlands, but they've got the major dirt dealt with for the most part! I could see them just barely beating out Jenks come OBA, but I wouldn't put money on it. 4) Bixby (3-6) 92 Bixby has a very Bixby show this year! Lot's of very hard stuff to achieve and it seems to be coming along nicely. I don't think they will be quite as high this year compared to years past, who knows, we'll have to wait and see how they do at Union! 5) Yukon (3-6) 91 I'm a sucker for the props! Very cool integration with the rest of the show design! Music is really really nice, and they've developed a new sound that I just can't help but love! Another band I don't really know how to place because everyone from 4-8 is so close! 6) Union (4-7) 90 Union looks really nice this year! Very clean already and sounds like old Union! I can see them taking a big spot at OBA and Indy! 7) Edmond Santa Fe (5-8) 89 Really nice show last night! Fit's in with that ESF Style! They're hanging on to that cleanliness from early in the year but I don't know if it will be enough come OBA. 8) Owasso (6-8) 88 Really impressed with Owasso this year! Their performance from a week ago was very nice, but I don't know how it will stack up against Union, Yukon and Bixby! We will see for at least two of them this upcoming Saturday! 9) Deer Creek (9-12) 85 Good stuff! Excellent showing at Mustang last night! They continue to improve like this and they will be a monster come Indy! 10) Southmoore (9-12) 84 Hope they had a very productive rehearsal in Tulsa last night! 11) Edmond North (10-First Out) 83 Again they continue to improve throughout the season! I really like their show this year, and they have a really nice sound! 12) Choctaw (11-Third Out) 82 I think out of the bubble bands left they have the biggest chance to make finals!

In my finals prediction for Indy
In my bubble prediction for IndyPersonally southmoore in 10th does not seem so realistic as they definitely sound better some upper band on your list like Yukon. If you watch southmoore finals run at BAI last night you will see and hear what I mean. If I were to do a list I would not put Yukon as high and have southmoore top 5.

I am so excited for this week to finally see how Yukon and Owasso are looking on the score sheets.
Also, I posted an Oklahoma top 30 (as of this week) over in the State Rankings thread. Would love for some discussion on it!

I am having prediction withdrawals
POST MUSTANG/BAI INVITATIONAL OBA PREDICTIONS 1. BA (94-97) It's Broken Arrow. I don't have much else to say here other than they look very impressive, as usual, and will continue to dominate Oklahoma Marching Band... or will they? (yes, they will) 2. Jenks (93-95) I believe Jenks will steal the music caption off of BA. I also believe that this will be the first year in a hot minute where another band will come within a point of BA at this contest. They look absolutely phenomenal. 3. Mustang (90-93) After watching them at the Mustang Invitational, I am sure they will have another top 4 finish at OBA this year. All I can say is WOW!!! They have cleaned this show amazingly well and I cannot wait to see how far they can push this show. 4. Bixby (90-92) After an unimpressive 4th place finish at Owasso, I know for a fact that they will be phenomenal come OBA. I saw a recording of their exhibition performance at BTOB and that show was at LEAST 2-3 points better than their Owasso performance. I am expecting big things from them at Indy next week! 5. Union (89-91) Union are BACK! I absolutely love their show this year. They have an amazing sound and will challenge Bixby for top 4. 6. Owasso (87-90) Owasso already look better than they did last year, which is really saying something! They will be in a 5th-8th bubble where I believe Union, Owasso, Yukon, and Santa Fe will be. 7. Yukon (87-90) Their props are amazing! They are doing fantastic this year, but it is really difficult for me to envision them getting top 5. 8. Edmond Santa Fe (87-89) They scored super well at MMI this year! I am not too big of a fan of their show, but the judges seem to love it. 9. Deer Creek (84-87) They seem to have gotten their revenge on Edmond North from Yukon! I believe DC and Edmond North will be within 0.5 points of each other come OBA. Their sound blows me away and they have some really good show design this year! 10. Edmond North (84-87) Their show is so fun this year! These kids can play their butts off and they really perform the show if that makes sense. 11. Choctaw (83-85) Beating some of the best bands in Oklahoma in the visual caption is very impressive! They once again have a top tier color guard and I believe they will sneak into one of the most competitive OBA finals we will ever see. 12. Southmoore (83-85) Did very well at BAI. I don't see them finishing any higher than 10th this season, this is just such a competitive year for Oklahoma bands.
Best Visual - Broken Arrow/Jenks Best Music - Jenks Best GE - Broken Arrow

I just wanted to pop in and say that it warms my heart to see the Southmoore band director helping the student in a wheelchair. I believe this was talked about last year but it's still just incredibly wholesome to see.

Happy 1st week of OBA to those who celebrate! While most eyes in the state will be on Renegade Review in Tulsa this weekend, Saturday is a big day for the smaller Oklahoma schools! They may not be as prolific as some of the bigger Oklahoma names, but they can march and play just as well! I have the distinction of being the first to provide predictions for the two contests happening this weekend. I will admit it's a bit harder to make accurate marks on these smaller schools, and these will probably be a complete random mess past the top 6, but I'll do my best given the shows I've seen and the scores at the contests they've attended.
1A-2A-3A 1. Berryhill 2. Purcell 3. Perkins-Tryon 4. Washington 5. Checotah 6. Muldrow 7. Morris 8. Verdigris 9. Perry 10. Oklahoma Union 11. Kingfisher 12. Adair
Music- Purcell Visual- Perkins-Tryon GE- Berryhill
4A 1. Sallisaw 2. Ft. Gibson 3. Blanchard 4. Skiatook 5. Tuttle 6. Newcastle 7. Weatherford 8. Harrah 9. Woodward 10. Ada 11. Oologah 12. Broken Bow
Music- Sallisaw Visual- Sallisaw GE- Sallisaw
Not much to talk about here, although there are a few things to note- mainly Berryhill having some stiffer competition in 3A than is maybe considered usual. I'm glad to see some more competition in that class of bands! I'm still calling it theirs to lose, just based on having not seen very much of any of the others that have a chance to top them, but at this rate, it seems like anything else could be possible. Will someone topple Berryhill's long reign on 1A-3A? We'll find out this weekend. In 4A, there's a little bit more to talk about, mainly how I think Blanchard has a chance to medal this year. They've been doing great this year and I think this is the year the stars align for them. I haven't seen anything from Sallisaw this year (it doesn't help that they're so far out east), but they've historically swept this contest, so I don't foresee that changing, unless Ft. Gibson has something great up their sleeve that we don't know about. I suppose that's also possible though, given that they won the Bixby contest this past weekend against a couple of perennial 5A finalists, including top 6 finisher McAlester.
Good luck to all the bands this weekend!!

Way too tired tonight to post my full predictions, but here’s a preview—
1. Owasso is popping off in competition 2. 2 weeks ago for Bixby when they got 4th at the Owasso contest was not a fluke, they are a different ensemble than we’ve seen in years past. Nothing that can’t change quickly however . 3. Bruh where did Yukon come from??? A crazy finals run I wasn’t prepared for, 1ST IN INDVIDUAL VISUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST BENTONVILLE AND OWASSO?!?!? Yukon seems to have something special here this season; I’m seeing ESF and them being close but above Bixby by OBA

Congrats to Muldrow! Especially after getting 2nd in prelims, it is exciting to see you all come out and do a great job! I believe this Muldrow's first victory at OBA. It is also the first time since 2017 that Berryhill did NOT win. Even at the smaller level, the Oklahoma band scene is changing!

I promise this is my last post for a while lol. But 6A OBA is going to be willlddddd. Those last few spots in finals are going to be so hard to predict. Could genuinely see Choctaw, Stillwater, Edmond North, Edmond Memorial, Deer Creek, even Westmoore taking them. Insane
Locks continue to be: Broken Arrow, Jenks, Mustang, Owasso, Union, Yukon, Edmond Santa Fe, Bixby, Southmoore. So 3 spots that 6-7 bands are vying for. I can't remember an OBA with the pool this deep, and I know I said that last year too lol. It just keeps getting more and more competitive!
Right now, I think I lean towards those spots going to Deer Creek, Choctaw, and Stillwater. Although could easily see the latter two not making finals.

OBA 6A Predictions Post-Renegade Review Contest: I don't even know how to explain how much more difficult these predictions are getting every contest this year, but it is so exciting to see and think about no doubt!
(Shows ranking comparison to my previous week rankings)*
Blue are Finals Locks, Red are Bubble and could possibly be bumped out.
1. Broken Arrow (Same) 94-96 BA is BA 2. Jenks (Same) 92-94 Jenks is Jenks, still think 2nd for them right now but mustang could change that come OBA 3. Mustang (Same) 91-93 I overreacted to Mustang at the start of the season but I think they will continue to improve and fight for 2nd place. 4. Owasso (Up 4) 88-90 Owasso blew past my expectations so congrats to them for that! They showed up and showed out last night! 5. Yukon (Same) 85-87 Welp Yukon showed something last night that ESF tried to do after the Owasso Comp, but we all thought was a fluke on Bixby's end. Bixby isn't the same group we've known the past two seasons at least. Congrats to Yukon for beating BSS as well, I loved their visuals and their sound was killing! 6. Union (Same) 85-87 I need to see Union and Yukon in contest together but I think either school could be 5th right now, I chose Yukon mainly because of their well done performance last night, although I liked Union's too a lot. 7. Bixby (Down 3) 84-86 I don't know if there's much more to say, I love Bixby and their show this season, it just isn't up to beating the top 6 in my opinion. 8. Edmond Sante Fe (Down 1) 84-86 ESF is doing their own thing and we won't see them till OBA so who knows, maybe they top Bixby again! 9. Southmoore (Same) 82-84 Love them as always, just not up to par with the top 8 in my opinion, this is where will see a score gap of maybe 2+ points 10. Deer Creek (Same) 81-83 Same thing I said to Southmoore, although I think we will see a close score between Southmoore and them 11. Stillwater (Came from Below Top 12) 79-81 Welp they definetely changed my mind on them! They did great last night, so much I have to put them in Finals now. Congrats to them for beating Choctaw! 12. Choctaw (Down 1) 79-81 Choctaw's doing great don't get me wrong, this bubble is just tough competition no doubt.
Blue are Finals Locks, Red are Bubble and could possibly be bumped out.
