Very Confident for top 3, 4-8 is a bit loose, and everything after that is a shot in the dark. Only change I’d make would be putting Edwardsville higher. Not quite on par with Normal, but they aren’t bad. I’m tempted to put Morton over Lincoln-Way, but I’ve heard very good things about the latter this year…

Now that Wisconsin just had their State championships, here are the top 10 overall scoring bands in the State, out of 29 competing bands.
NOTE: River Falls did beat Greendale overall (but in a different class) by a tenth of a point, but considering historical precedent, Greendale still gets the #1 spot.
1. Greendale (Class AA Champion) 2. River Falls (Class AAA Champion) 3. Oak Creek (Class AAAA Champion) 4. Franklin 5. Sauk Prairie 6. Germantown 7. Middleton 8. Mukwonago 9. Waukesha West 10. Baldwin-Woodville (Class A Champion)

The transitions between movements seemed a little awkward, too, and I feel like I did not hear all the music that was listed in the program. They've got a week, I guess we will find out at Indy.

Illinois Rankings: 1. O'fallon 2. Morton 3. Lincoln Way ————————— 4. Prospect 5.Lockport 6. Marian Catholic 7. Normal 8. John Hersey 9. Victor J Andrew 10. Plainfield North
I feel really confident about the top three, especially after seeing Morton last night. And the fact that they scored .5 above LW’s exhibition. Not as sure about 4-10 but we’ll see how that plays out this weekend at ISU. Morton is definitely the front runner for grand champ there, and we’ll see how they compare to ofallon at St. Louis SR.

Very Confident for top 3, 4-8 is a bit loose, and everything after that is a shot in the dark. It wasn't shown on the official score sheet, but Morton just beat Lincoln Way's exhibition by 0.5 at their invitational. Definitely a sign of change in the Illinois Hierarchy!

I think that while I'd like to agree with you (my heart truly is with Morton), as someone pointed out earlier, LW has historically performed much better than Morton. And while I understand that this most recent show was a BOA affiliate, I am not sure how much stock you can put into that score (will an 85 here really translate to an 85 at St. Louis? Will that .5 gap be the same at another show?) The past couple of years, Morton has gone down to St. Louis area to compete with O'Fallon, and been competitive (beating them by 2 points last year!!) but then got stomped at Grand Nationals. For those reasons, I keep Morton at 3, and LW at 2

10/14 South Carolina: 1. Wando 2. Catawba Ridge 3. James F. Byrnes 4. Clover 5. Nation Ford 6. Stratford 7. Blythewood 8. Fort Mill 9. Dorman 10. D.W. Daniel
It's been a while since I've posted, but after watching this past weekend at BoA Conway I think this is a solid list of SC bands. Summerville wasn't included because I can not find any competitive results for this season! Fort Mill low because they haven't had any relative comparative data at any show thus far this season. D.W. Daniel beat T.L. Hanna this past weekend.

What makes me agree that Green Level is slightly above is their strength of schedule. They’re doing 2 BOA events and 3 local show, where they are going against some of the best bands in NC during the local shows. Cleveland is doing 4 local shows and 1 BOA regional, and none of the local shows feature many of the other big marching bands in NC. This week a good amount of the top NC bands are going to regionals (Cleveland in Orlando, Green Level in Maryland, Panther Creek and Cary at Johnston City), so it’ll be interesting to see where their scores lie.

For those reasons, I keep Morton at 3, and LW at 2 I'm going to preface this with I'm a Morton alum and I'm definitely biased here, but "stomped at Grand Nationals" is a bit much lol. If you look at the Semis recap, O'Fallon was 18th with a score of 86.325, Morton was 19th (and 2nd in AA) with a score of 85.600, and Lincoln Way was 25th with a score of 84.650. For additional (although a little less accurate comparison), at GN Prelims last year, O'Fallon scored an 89.875, Morton scored an 87.100, and LW an 85.600. In other words, in a head-to-head it seems that the top three are 1) O'Fallon 2) Morton and 3) Lincoln-Way. As for this year, certainly things could change some. Idk the truth behind the exhibition score thing, so I can't speak to that and will presume that its hearsay. You could try to compare scores between Indy and ISU using Lockport as somewhat of a constant between the two (a band that was 0.800 pts behind LW at Indy and several points behind Morton at ISU - the avg is about 5 pts, but 2.5-3 is probably more realistic), but that's an imperfect process to try and rank bands which makes it hard to put a whole lot of weight into that for rankings. Either way, a strong argument could be made that Morton is #2 in IL based on data from the 2022 and 2023 marching seasons using numeric data and some level of conjecture.

Indiana Rankings 10/24/23
*These rankings are without solid weather reports from semi-state and pre-state finals. Also the only Class-to-Class comparison is pretty much Indy Super, but here goes. Rank. Band - Class 1. Carmel - A 2. Avon - A 3. Brownsburg - A 4. Carroll - A 5. Fishers - A 6. Homestead - A 7. Castle - A 8. Center Grove - A 9. Noblesville - A 10. Westfield - A 11. Goshen - A 12. Penn - A 13. Franklin Central - A 14. Ben Davis - A 15. Evansville North - B 16. Floyd Central - A 17. Jasper - B 18. Lawrence Township - A 19. Greenwood - B 20. Hamilton Southeastern - A 21. Warren Central - A 22. Northview - B 23. Greenfield-Central - B 24. Edgewood - C 25. Concord - B 26. Western - C 27. Northwood - C 28. Bloomington North - B 29. Decatur Central - A 30. Munster - B
Next 10 (alphabetical): Chesterton, Columbus North, Elkhart, Fairfield, FJ Reitz, Forest Park, Jimtown, Pendleton Heights, Whiteland, Zionsville
If I missed anyone or if you think there should be any changes let me know. Once again this is just for fun, and it's hard to compare bands across classes that haven't directly competed.

I'm combining Washington and Oregon here, just because both are so intertwined in competition. Also, this is all just me looking at scores and using personal judgement, don't take my word on this entirely!
1. Grants Pass - OR 2. Kamiak - WA 3. Ridgeline - WA 4. Cheney - WA 5. Sherwood - OR 6. Mt. Spokane - WA 7. West Salem - OR 8. Mountainside - OR 9. Pasco - WA 10. Mead - WA
The top three are really, REALLY tight. Really to a point where any of them can be 1. Nice thing is that all three of them will be competing with each other at NWAPA Championships at the University of Oregon this Saturday.

There's an argument for Collierville over Franklin, but without them competing against each other, I just went with my gut.

Indiana Rankings Post-State Finals (10/30/23)
I had the pleasure of watching many of these groups perform on Saturday. Definitely a lot shake-ups in placements from semistate and what I expect to be very close gaps between some groups. State results made it even harder to compare between classes as some groups hadn't performed since Indy Super/Semistate. But these are just for fun.
1. Avon - A 2. Carmel - A 3. Brownsburg - A 4. Fishers - A 5. Homestead - A 6. Castle - A 7. Center Grove - A 8. Carroll - A 9. Goshen - A 10. Noblesville - A 11. Westfield - A 12. Penn - A 13. Class A: 19 Class B: 6 Class C: 4 Class D: 1

I'm going to take a try at Ohio again this year! This is more results based more on results than by my own eye, however for some of the close ones I had to use my opinion. This was tough, especially with OMEA results, 6-12 are very interchangeable with all such bands having strong seasons and being pretty tight the whole way through. Only a few results left to look at for the end of the season (Midstates Championships, BOA, and the back half of state finals) so everything besides those are being factored in here.
Some notable things are Miamisburg leaving the top 10 this year. They have been and continue to be a spectacular band, however, this year they lost to quite a few others on this list causing them to get marked down a bit. The Lakota's jumping of Centerville is due to West's placement above Centerville at a regional and in tandem just how close East and West have been all year at local competition. 7-11 are difficult, I decided to place Worthington Kilbourne and Dublin Coffman at the top. Worthington Kilbourne because of their impressive display at the Columbus regional and also their recent win locally. Dublin Coffman won big at the OMEA Ohio State Regional. With the exclusion of Foresthills, 7-11 all competed multiple times this year and had very scattered placements all beating the others at some point so they could be interchangeable, however Kilbourne and Coffman earn the top spots for their high placements. Besides that Thomas Worthington had an impressive weekend at state finals. 14-20 while not consistently winning against those above them, found great success against the rest of Ohio.
If anyone who is a little more experienced in Ohio Marching band has thoughts or a better list please share! I am also a current Forest Hills Student, just to make you all aware of any bias I may have, though, I hope I have done a good job of eliminating that!
1. William Mason 2. Lakota East 3. Lakota West 4. Centerville 5. Grove City 6. Worthington Kilbourne 7. Dublin Coffman 8. Forest Hills. 9. Kettering Fairmont 10. Beavercreek 11. Miamisburg 12. Hilliard Bradley 13. Thomas Worthington 14. Kings 15. Hilliard Darby 16. Fairfield 17. Dublin Jerome 18. Hilliard Davidson 19. Bernie Union 20. Finneytown
