I'm going to take a try at Ohio again this year! This is more results based more on results than by my own eye, however for some of the close ones I had to use my opinion. This was tough, especially with OMEA results, 6-12 are very interchangeable with all such bands having strong seasons and being pretty tight the whole way through. Only a few results left to look at for the end of the season (Midstates Championships, BOA, and the back half of state finals) so everything besides those are being factored in here. Some notable things are Miamisburg leaving the top 10 this year. They have been and continue to be a spectacular band, however, this year they lost to quite a few others on this list causing them to get marked down a bit. The Lakota's jumping of Centerville is due to West's placement above Centerville at a regional and in tandem just how close East and West have been all year at local competition. 7-11 are difficult, I decided to place Worthington Kilbourne and Dublin Coffman at the top. Worthington Kilbourne because of their impressive display at the Columbus regional and also their recent win locally. Dublin Coffman won big at the OMEA Ohio State Regional. With the exclusion of Foresthills, 7-11 all competed multiple times this year and had very scattered placements all beating the others at some point so they could be interchangeable, however Kilbourne and Coffman earn the top spots for their high placements. Besides that Thomas Worthington had an impressive weekend at state finals. 14-20 while not consistently winning against those above them, found great success against the rest of Ohio. If anyone who is a little more experienced in Ohio Marching band has thoughts or a better list please share! I am also a current Forest Hills Student, just to make you all aware of any bias I may have, though, I hope I have done a good job of eliminating that! 1. William Mason 2. Lakota East 3. Lakota West 4. Centerville 5. Grove City 6. Worthington Kilbourne 7. Dublin Coffman 8. Forest Hills. 9. Kettering Fairmont 10. Beavercreek 11. Miamisburg 12. Hilliard Bradley 13. Thomas Worthington 14. Kings 15. Hilliard Darby 16. Fairfield 17. Dublin Jerome 18. Hilliard Davidson 19. Bernie Union 20. Finneytown Thanks for doing this. Among Ohio bands, Finneytown placed fifth Saturday at MSBA Class AAA championships behind Archbishlp Carroll (second) and Bellbrook (third). (Meanwhile in MSBA Class AA, Bishop Watterson placed fourth with almost the exact same score that Finneytown got in Class AAA. I saw Bishop Watterson the previous Sunday in OMEA finals, and while the judges agreed with me that they deserved a Superior, I thought 15 of the 25 bands who performed that day were better.) And Archbishop Alter not only placed second in Class A with a higher score than Finneytown in Class AAA, but they also had recently been the BOA Class A champion in Orlando. Moving up your list to Fairfield, that band just placed behind Milford and West Clermont at MSBA Class AAAAA championships. I wonder if Bernie Union could do a Weekend at Bernie's show.

According to a mathematical algorithm that I had no hand in and only uses BOA scores, here are the final rankings for the bands in Missouri who did at least one BOA show this year:
1. Blue Springs 2. Blue Springs South 3. Kickapoo 4. Nixa 5. Grain Valley 6. Lindbergh 7. Camdenton 8. Washington 9. Fort Zumwalt North 10. Francis Howell Central 11. Timberland 12. Fox 13. Rockwood Summit 14. Neosho 15. Rolla 16. Willard 17. Oakville 18. Francis Howell 19. Wentzville Holt 20. Rock Bridge 21. Marquette 22. Lafayette 23. Fort Zumwalt West 24. Sullivan 25. Capital City 26. Webb City 27. Logan-Rogersville 28. Parkway South 29. Jefferson City 30. Hollister 31. Parkway Central 32. Northwest
Obviously missing quite a few bands (I immediately think of Lee’s Summit, Battle, Hickman, Raytown, Republic, Ozark, and Reeds Spring), but I don’t really have any complaints about how the numbers shook out. It seems I underestimated quite a few groups this year in my personal rankings! This REALLY makes me want a state-sanctioned, fully established state contest, because we’d be able to really put it to the test!

Nebraska (Top 20 with captions) + location within the state based on address (which is why some schools in the same district have different locations)
1.) Millard West - Music, Visual, GE, Percussion - (Omaha) 2.) Papillion La Vista South - Guard - (Papillion) 3.) Bellevue West (Bellevue) 4.) Gretna (Gretna) 5.) Millard North (Omaha) 6.) Bellevue East (Bellevue) 7.) Elkhorn South (Omaha) 8.) Millard South (Omaha) 9.) Westside (Omaha) 10.) Lexington (Lexington) 11.) Papillion La Vista (Papillion) 12.) Gretna East (Omaha) 13.) Ogallala (Ogallala) 14.) Elkhorn (Elkhorn) 15.) Waverly (Waverly) 16.) Norris (Firth) 17.) Elkhorn North (Omaha) 18.) Lincoln Southeast (Lincoln) 19.) Grand Island (Grand Island) 20.) Omaha Burke (Omaha)
Placements varied a lot between all of the NSBA competitions this year, so a lot of the groups (especially from 12-20) could all be in different spots (also doesn’t help that some groups only go to 1 NSBA competition, usually due to distance as they’re mainly in Omaha and Lincoln)
I could’ve just looked at scores from the final NSBA state competition, but not all groups went to the main competition in Omaha—meaning I had to compare scores from 6 different competitions to better rank the groups

Do you think there's enough information out there to do a top 10 for Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska Etc? As far as I am aware, Idaho is the only state in that group with more than 10 competitive marching ensembles. 21 bands attended the Wyoming State Marching Band Festival this year, an event that doesn't award scores but does award ratings (like OMEA's state event). Does that count? The video I've seen of that event makes it look mostly like a typical competitive marching band event. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

I get a kick out of seeing my alma mater listed here. And among schools that existed when I graduated high school, in 8th place no less! Only 19 of the 40 schools on the list existed when I graduated high school, including one that was only in it's third year of existence at the time.

I know you just went with the State championship results from this past season, but River Falls only outscored Greendale overall by a razor thin margin and Greendale is traditionally several points ahead of everyone overall. You are right I am basing it on the State results because I haven't seen River Falls show, but in my rankings, it's based on the year 2023. Ik Greendale has been number the #1 WI band for a big chuck of the post late 2000s, but Greendale's show was a lot messy compared to other years as it wasn't the most competitive year and they have Macy's to deal with, and River Falls has been on the up and up, and so it seems they caught up to Greendale this year both bands was winning their competition with big margins so idk.
