I think I'm going to be making the trek to Indy this year. Anything a first-time attendee should know? Go to Kilroy's for lunch/dinner, and get the stuffed breadsticks. Also, Circle Centre Mall sucks. The Garage is a food hall that is a little further of a walk than kilroys and it's better food with less sticky floors! But a tradition of mine has been the slippery noodle on Friday. Pretty good food and specials for lunch there too.

I think I'm going to be making the trek to Indy this year. Anything a first-time attendee should know? Downtown Indy is under construction. No noisemakers, vuvuzuelas or missile-like objects are allowed in Lucas Oil Stadium. The Starbucks at 14th and Capitol opens at 4:30am, if you need good coffee before the first band. Lucas Oil is entirely cashless - there are machines in the west side concession area to turn cash into a card that will work at the stands In what universe does Starbucks being open have anything to do with getting good coffee?

As opposed to the coffee in the lobby of the downtown Tru hotel or the catered swill at Lucas Oil, it is a step up. You try finding better in downtown Indy before 5 am......I am tempted to pack my Nespresso this year....

They closed down and dug up my favorite secret parking spot, so I don't recommend parking there. Worlds of Wonder garage is my current go-to place, but there are other places to park. Don't park under the mall.

Really feeling for the Dobyns-Bennett kids who are all still out of school due to flooding from Helene. Hopefully everyone is safe and they'll be able to get back to rehearsing soon! They've been rehearsing. Their school is closed. They still march forth regardless of the weather. They are in tip-top shape!

Only other BOA event I've attended was the 2018 Canton regional. Were you at Prelims, Finals, or both at Canton 2018? I went to that show's Prelims and then to the OMEA competition at Copley that evening. It was an unpleasantly cold day!

Though there seem to be some.. we'll say "questionable" panel balancing? I will say. The Powers that be really cooked with some of these blocks. From like 5:45PM on Thursday to 1:45PM on Friday, just some non stop fire! And really you can make an argument it starts from like noon on Thursday. Worth the flobox5marching ticket for sure.

I'm ready to see how many predictions will change this week, especially BOA Prosper

Alright let’s have fun. Finalists predictions.
In no particular order:
Avon** Mason** Tarpon** Broken Arrow** Cedar Park** Carmel** Dobyns Bennett** Leander Brownsburg Castle O’Fallon Bridgeland**
**= Finalist lock (in my opinion)
Ultimately, this seems to be one of the most competitive grand nationals in recent years. Other bands I could see potentially squeezing in are Prosper, Jenks, and Fishers. American Fork could make it but it’s such a tight year. I would love to see Mustang make it but perhaps in a less stacked year.

Glad they’re pushing forward Its such a shame that Florida is getting hit again, but in my head, I imagine Florida bands practicing in knee deep water lol

As long as the eye of the storm stays south of Tampa bay I think Tarpon will be okay. There is also an extra week in Nov this year which will help Tarpon in the nice Florida weather vs the midwest which could freeze over

I think American Fork is def cleaning up nicely to possible clench a finals spot, but boy that singer in the ballad… l do not think is doing them any favors.
I really don’t mean to sneer at one particular performer I’m sure she is working her tail off - but every point will matter to make this finals appearance with such a large presence she has in the show.
It is just so hard also to blend and balance with large band which is why Avon was smart to mostly have her sing on her own in 2013, but that’s a different conversation.

Seeing Cheney right in the middle of that block especially after Tarpon... if they end up making semis, there'll be no doubts lol

Checked out the Indiana thread and didn’t see scores. Did they end up finishing ahead of Fishers (or within a point at least)?
