I saw a question over the reasoning for lower enrollment cap for Chattanooga, so I'll answer in this relevant thread specifically.
In most stadiums, the buses would be all delegated together in a single parking lot. Many of these are arduously small, BUT the parking people are absolute wizards in getting them all to fit. Heck, the Texan regionals, even with everything being big (including parking lots), barely can fit all the buses for the major programs.
Chattanooga does not have a major parking lot for buses at all. The bus parking is literally a two-lane avenue that stretches around the north, east, and south side of the stadium. Last year was filled to the capacity completely.
I'll also add that logistics in the last block was one of the most hectic I've been in. I had one band that arrived on time, but was nearly late for their performance because:
1. One band (about 2-3 bands later) was bringing their props for their performance.
2. Another was preparing to enter their warm-up area because the deemed flow WAS BLOCKED
3. A band finished their performance and was exiting, and needed to exit through the above ASAP
4. And said at-ready band was stuck behind ALL that congestion. No fault of their own.
Chattanooga can't handle anymore than 24 bands and I don't really see how to improve that beyond the city shutting off W 20th St. to the south entirely.
I'll say to all band directors on the fence about this that it is an INCREDIBLE venue. Once you get your buses and trucks in, it is such a special experience. If the current enrollment is any sign, you'd best get your name in hat as soon as possible.
